I had a lot of problems with a lot of my cars. I don't just have one I have many. And I took one of them here. And they got it working the next day. And I paid them and drove off with my car. And couple years ago my a/c broke and I forgot about them so I took my car to another auto repair shop and they said it was my a/c broke like the whole thing and I needed $800.00 to get it repair i didn't have funds for that kind of money and all of the sudden I forgot about Japanese auto repair and I brought my car back to them and they fixed it for me and it was only 250. And all I needed was a freon. There is people out there that will lied and this place is the best. I will forever bring my car here. read more

I'm so disappointed in this place. I recently purchased a new used vehicle that apparently had a security alarm issue. Every time I opened the door, the damn alarm would go off. The alarm fob did not work, despite new batteries. I couldn't find a kill switch, so the only way I could turn it off was by putting the key in the ignition and turning it to the "on" position. I stopped by this place after work, with new title and plate in hand, and asked how hard it would be to disable the alarm, for the time being at least, until I had more time to deal with the issue. He offered to secure my plate, then said, let us take a look. Less than 5 minutes later, they were so sure they solved the problem by simply pulling the fuse, then wanted to charge me $40 for doing so. When I objected since they spent less than 5 minutes on the issue, I was then lectured on how I was paying for their knowledge and expertise, when in fact all they they did was pull a fuse and fasten a license plate, (the license plate, which I did not ask them to do, they offered). He then asked how much I thought the service was worth, which I really didn't think was was worth anything, but I just slipped him a $20 just so I could be done with the deal. As it turns out, just pulling the fuse did not work. I made two more stops after leaving, and the alarm went off again, but stopped on it's own. Later in the evening, after getting home, I forgot something in the truck. Once again, the alarm went off. This time though, despite inserting the key to "on" position, it would not turn off until I reinserted the fuse. So "geniuses", I suspect you need to go back to school. For what you did, that should have been a good faith gesture, in hopes that I would bring my vehicle back for when I needed real repairs. But since you only thought you fixed the problem and tried to gouge me in the process, trust me, I will never come back to you again. Fortunately, I found someone who actually did fix the problem, and only charged me $20 to do so! Put this up on your wall!! read more

Don't go to this place. I took my truck (NISSAN TITAN) in for overheating with the AC on while in idle. Doesn't do it unless the AC is on. They said it's the thermostat, drive on way home, truck does it again 300 dollars later. Call to ask wth, did you leave it in idle with the AC on? I can't recall he says, what do you mean you can't recall I just picked it up and you guys fix it. We don't recreate the problem we just make our best educated guess. I don't need people guessing whats wrong I need people who KNOW what they're doing. You're supposed to specialize in Japanese makes and models, and you're taking a guess. Customers can't afford guesses man. I'm not made of money. I can guess myself. Mechanics are supposed to be the pros! Save your money and go somewhere else! read more

Drove in from California to bring my daughter, along with her car, to college. Unfortunately the check engine light came on during the ride in. just happened to notice the shop as I was staying at a Hotel very close by so I decided to stop in. Spoke with Kevin and he verified what I already suspected was a bad Air/Fuel Sensor. He researched and cross referenced the correct OEM part number for me, and the next day installed it for just $50. He sensed I was a bit concerned/distressed as I would soon be leaving back to Cali and time was running out. He had his mechanic double and triple check everything, as well as clean the MAF and another sensor just to be sure the light would not come back on. Although this took him quite a bit of extra time and effort, out of kindness and consideration he charge me nothing. As a car guy myself (don't work on imports) I will say that Kevin is a stand up guy. The car lives the majority of its life in AZ so I would/will definitely go back to him whether it be for general maintenance or something beyond that. My husband and I the misfortune of our air-conditioning breaking midway through the drive down to Phoenix from Seattle to drop our daughter off at school. It was very hot. When we arrived in Phoenix it was about 105. Obviously, we were not excited about the prospect of finding a reputable honest mechanic so far away from our town. We asked some people for references, but no one had any so we looked on Yelp and landed at Japanese auto pros. We cannot speak highly enough of them. They fixed the problem quickly, fit us in at the last minute, charged us way less than we were expecting, and went above and beyond. Came here after work to get my car repaired. I told the mechanic my driver side axle was broken. he told me the axle was fine and said he could do a diagnostic for 50 bucks, but that would come off the cost of the axle. he drove around for 15 minutes and with the help of another mechanic.. diagnosed that it was, in fact, my axle. Quoted me 300 for a Nissan Murano axle. I told him brakes plus did it for 200 (read my review on brakes plus for my experience after this one), he didn't believe me, saying that he had the best prices in town and he would match Brakes Plus. We called up Brakes Plus on speaker- and they quoted me 200. he was angry, lied and said he couldn't do it for 200 any more. He wanted the diagnostic money, but I told him they had incorrectly told me it wasn't my axle when I walked in, so he shouldn't charge me up front. He was cool with that, so I drove off. read more

My transmission went out at work and Was able to make it to the shop. The guy said he had to do a diagnostic. I wasn't happy about it at 1st but I'm glad I got it done. The sensor I wanted to replace was over $200 at another place. It turned out the sensor wasn't the problem. My car was leaking transmission fluid from the casing. The guy told me I could replace the transmission or just keep checking the oil until I got a new car, (since my car is older...I am saying my car is old not him). Excellent mechanics! Most importantly, HONEST and fair. I had to tow my old (240k miles) car to their shop, it was my first time doing business with them. Gave them recent history and another mechanic's diagnostic pointing to a potential timing belt adjustment or replacement (which seemed premature, by the way). They took a look at it, and it turned out it was the crankshaft position sensor. They checked the timing marks and made sure everything was OK. I am doing this review for my Grandmother. She was having a/c problems and took her car to Fletchers in Peoria. They quoted her $700 for some knob adjuster thing. (not quite sure). She called around for other prices. Ended up taking her car into Japanese Auto Pro, since she was quoted a great price to fix this piece. As it turned out, it wasn't broken, the a/c button just wasn't clicked on. These guys at Japanese Auto Pro figured it out within 10 minutes and drove down the road to find my Grandma. (As she was going to find something to do while it was being fixed.) They could have easily fixed this piece and charged her a couple hundred dollars for it. Instead, they were honest about it! It's such a great feeling to take your vehicle somewhere and feel like you can actually trust someone. She will take her car here from now on and no where else! read more

On 07/07/2012 I brought my car in for a routine oil change for $30.00. Afterwards, I went about my various errands for the day. When I pulled into my complex, I became aware of a strong burning odor. It didn't take long to figure out what it was. Smoke was billowing out from under my hood & when I pulled into my garage, I took a look under the hood didn't see much until I got on all fours and realized my car was bleeding oil like a stuck pig and there was a trail of oil leading out behind my car. I promptly called Auto Pros who were closed by that time. My check oil light was now on as I high-tailed it to a AAA shop down the street, praying that my car would make it without sustaining serious engine damage. According to AAA, the wrong size filter was installed. After hoisting my car up, the mechanic showed me the rubber seal that was protruding out from the filter as the last few drops of oil dripped out. AAA Performed a proper oil change for $20.71 and recommended that I get the undercarriage car washed which I did at the nearest car wash that offered it. On Monday I went back to the shop to state my case for what I felt I was entitled to in terms of reimbursement: Auto Pros Oil Change: $30.00 Car Wash: $13.00 Millage: $15.00 (27 mi @ .55) Total $58.00 My reasoning as stated to Auto Pros for the above is as follows: - Auto Pro did not provide me with a proper oil change so I feel they should have reimbursed this cost. - My car was smoking like a chimney due to all the oil splatter that was still cooking on the underside of my engine. AAA mechanic said that he did the best he could, but a good, thorough was the best way to get rid of the excess oil. - As for millage, it's about a 10 mi round trip from my home to Auto Pros. It was a 3 mi round trip from AAA to the car wash, and then home. The trip from work back to Auto Pros was about 9 mi and another 5 mi to get home. I do a little driving for work & the rate of reimbursement is .55 per mile. Auto Pros acted like I was trying to swindle them. They claimed I had no proof & it was inconceivable in their minds that they performed an inadequate oil change. 1st off, who in the hell would get 2 oil changes in one day on the same car!? Even if I was a conman, why would I be going thru this amount of trouble just to gain a few bucks? It just wouldn't be worthwhile. Auto Pros only agreed that to pay the cost of the 2nd oil change leaving me with a $9 deficit. Their explanation? They "still provided me a service" that they needed to get paid for and that they were already being generous for agreeing to reimburse me for the 2nd oil change. If I would have paid $40 for the 2nd oil change, I bet they would have then decided to reimburse me for the cost of their oil change so they could keep the extra $10. They totally refused to pay for the car wash saying that there was still a lot of oil under the engine and therefore they weren't paying for a service that wasn't performed or at least not properly rendered. See the irony here? They did however attempt to clean the remaining amount of oil caked on the underside of the engine. Finally, they only agreed to pay $5 for 1 gallon of gas. The grand total for my actual reimbursement was only $26 - not even enough to cover the cost of 1st oil change which they done incorrectly. Auto Pros may have did a great job minimizing their short-term losses, but they have cost themselves my repeat business. I have a 2000 accord with more than 100k mi which stills runs nearly as good as the day I bought it. That's because I take good care of it, getting all regularly scheduled maintenance & oil changes religiously. With about a dozen auto shops less than a mile from my home offering oil changes for significantly cheaper, Auto Pro should have been honored that I was willing to travel out of my way and pay more to do business with their shop. But now there's no way I'll ever go back. How can I when these guys won't fully stand behind their work? I shudder to think what would have happened if my engine was seriously damaged by their faulty service. read more

Have brought my cars her multiple times. My first experience here was when I had a problem with my trailblazer, I originally took it to a Mechanic who charged me $120 for a diagnostic and gave me quotes for multiple problems ranging from $100 to a thousand I took it to Japanese Auto Pros they were able to find the problem and fix it at a cheaper rate. Another experience I had was when I needed to get my transmission replaced, I'm not one to trust mechanics so after Japanese auto told me I needed my transmission replaced, I went to multiple auto shops to make sure I got the best price and right diagnostic, i ended up going back to Japanese Auto Pros after getting the cheapest quote with them. I once had an issue with my engine, instead of having them fix it they told me to go to my dealer to get it fixed as it should still be covered under warranty. I know nothing about cars and they could have made money off of me but instead they did the honest thing. Everytime I've compared prices they were always the most reasonable. Dealer wanted $1000, Japanese Auto Pros did it for $260 fixing the broken one the dealer screwed up. It's amazing to know you have a quality auto shop near you incase something happens. I brought a Honda Civic to this repair shop. I asked them to diagnose the shudder that the vehicle makes when you first step on the gas. They charged a $75 diagnostic fee. After they looked at the vehicle they said the shudder was from broken engine mounts and it would be $950 for the repair. I told the employee that I believed the shudder was from the start clutch on the transmission which is a known problem with this vehicle. He promised me that the engine mounts would fix it. I told him I would think about it and I left. When I got home I looked up the cost of 4 genuine Honda motor mounts which was $437.87 and I ordered all four. When they came in I installed them the next day. Of the four engine mounts only one has some some small cracks in it. So they lied about the engine mounts being broken. The second thing is it took me, (someone who does not wrench on cars very often) two hours to replace all four mounts. I would think that they could change them out faster but lets just say it takes them two hours. That means they are charging $256.10 per hour. The third thing is that it did not fix the problem like they said it would. So basically they lied, over charge and clearly don't know what they are doing. All I wanted was a price to fix the transmission but they could not provide that. read more

I've been taking my vehicles (and my girlfriend's) to Kevin for about 10 years now. One of the (many) good things about his shop is that they work on American cars too (two of our cars are Domestic). He is honest and won't replace items unless absolutely necessary (I've been to many 'Brand Name' repair shops that have tried to do services that were not necessary, just to make extra money. I had reservations about bringing my BMW here, guess I thought that a German car needed a German or foreign mechanic, boy was I wrong. These guys just know cars! They were able to address all of the warning light issues, replaced my brake pads and rotors with BMW authorized parts, did it in half a day and they didn't upsell me on ANYTHING! In fact, I had a few concerns I mentioned to them about belts, hoses and the heating and cooling. They told me they checked everything out, test drove it twice and there was no cause for concern. What?! A mechanic that doesn't try to replace everything under the hood needlessly? Unheard of! The car drives beautifully and I payed three times less than what the dealership would have charged. I'm bringing my Kia in to them in two weeks, these guys are amazing and my new mechanics for as long as I own these cars!
