Purchasing a car from Van and Matt at Japanese Auto was a great experience! We were given ample time to test drive, no hassle pricing, it was backed by CarMax history, and they eased our anxiety by listening to our questions and offering professional advice. Highly recommended location! We will be going back for future car needs.

Horrible people owner guys was great but sales people are racist liars and try to sale me a lemon and blame it on a open door homophobic as well made a joke about a friend who he had no idea i knew this person i would not recommend any person of color ever go there apparently i was to detailed for my first review yelp took it down but i stand by what i say i have video and text of the racist rants after i brought the car back on a tow truck half my family drives BMW guess no ones never drove with the door open because what I experienced not even 24 hours after taking home was unexceptionable for any person spending 20k blk or white.

DEALER - PAY YOUR BILLS TO YOUR SUPPLIERS! When you need to close your credit card account so as to not pay for services authorized & delivered, something is really wrong with the way you do business! BUYER BEWARE!! NO MATTER HOW AMAZING THEY MAKE THE DEAL SOUND, .... DON'T HOPE that your experience will be any different than some of the unpleasant stories below. JUST DON'T STOP HERE!! Find a dealer that takes care of their customers when they have a problem after the sale.

BUYERS BEWARE....NOT A REPUTABLE BUSINESS AT ALL!!!! Don't make the same mistake I did by even walking into Japanese Auto Sales In Portland. They lack ethics business practices, and they say anything to sell a car. Once they make a sale, their customers are treated horribly! From paperwork not turned in so you can get license plates back before temps expire. To they claim "they are connected to an auto repair shop that checks out all the vehicles before they go on the car lot" which is sad if even true. The car I bought should have never allowed on the road and my life endangered by the piece together parts along with the fact they had to have known if they check out the vehicle as they claim. From all mismatched tires to one directional tire mounted backward and brake pads below safety. From the severe complications of multiple failures in the engine, such as drive belt excessively cracked, and the intake hose being held together with duct tape too many more complications leading to needing a complete engine replacement and new turbo. Due to all these factors it would not pass admission control system and should have never been sold. I found all of this out plus more when taking it in for a simple oil change and that there is no way this could have happened during the not even the two months of owning this car. It needs way more work done than the car is worth. They took advantage of a lady buying a car. When I went in to try to work with them and took in the documentation, I was met with a hostile, non-ethnic, attitude of "oooh well, you bought it as AS -IS, and you stuck with it now get off my property." Clarity on what you can expect if you buy a vehicle from Japanese Auto Sales In Portland.

This is the one owner clean title honda they got me for under 1000 dollars!!!

Prior to scheduling I called and no one was available but they had a texting system. I left a voicemail prior to the text coming in and they answered my question about pricing before I booked the appointment. It was very convenient. When I got to the dealership, Matt the advisor got me in. Although he did not see my appointment I made online he still got me in for a walk in no problem. I did make the appointment an hour before arriving, so wondering if that's why my appointment did not show up in the system. Regardless it was nice he got me in still. Service: 5/3/26 they took my car and did an inspection of my tires and found that I had multiple studs/lugs that needed replaced. It took about 1.5 hrs for the inspectio and I was on my way. The process was easy and I scheduled my appointment for the following week to come back for full service of replacement. Service: 5/5/26 took my car in and everything went smooth. Gave me an estimate of how much cost may be and came out even lower than estimate which was a win. During the wait they send you a video of multipoint inspection and what was done. Very helpful, because they also recommend what should be fixed or flag you wants needs done now. I really like that tool from the waiting room I just responded if I wanted to take care of the issue then or decline it. The whole process was smooth and Matt was great. I will definitely be back. Thanks!

Watch for fraud when signing any paperwork!…read more When purchasing the sales person was great, then they send you to the back room for signing paperwork. Suddenly three other salesman and/or managers were standing behind me and trying to get me to buy the extended warranty. I said no to it. THEN one of them offered me a "new type of warranty" that covered everything at no fault. Including damage I had caused. I eagerly agreed asking for that in writing and he agreed. There is no such thing as this "new kind of warranty". A straight up lie. I only found out when I asked the service department about it. Do not go here. They are frauds.

So, there was this lady out driving around on February 1, 2023, and she wasn't paying attention to my car going through the intersection and I couldn't avoid her. I'll spare you all her drama and hysterics. End result, this particularly unpleasant lady's negligence resulted in my car being totaled. After what I thought was an appropriate mourning period, I felt ready to welcome another Ford Escape back into my life. Finding right one was a tiresome process. Some didn't match their profile photo, and that was just a deal breaker. I wanted to have my dads blessing when I thought I found one I could be happy with. He inspected the profile and agreed. So yesterday afternoon we drove to Barron's Auto Sales and Details. It was pretty much love at first sight. My soon to be 2010 Ford Escape was just sitting there all golden and gleaming in the sunshine peeking through the clouds. We got the keys and me and my dad took it for a little test drive. I felt right at home sitting behind the wheel. My dead was impressed with the way it drove. We both agreed I should buy it. My finances were limited as I haven't been paid for my beloved 06. We went into the office and met Hugo Lara and discussed a price we were both happy with. I'm almost embarrassed to admit this but I've never bought a car on my own. Ive always used my own money but my dad has always been there and I'm so grateful for that. So I thought I was going into this with pre approval. Nope. So I'm also grateful for Mr. Lara for giving me a brief education on how pre approval works and his efforts to secure an auto loan for me with a reasonable monthly payment and interest rate. Thank you Hugo Lara for making a used car purchase a pleasant experience. 2023 Review-#5

He is also funny and cool; as one of the other reviewers said, you'd like to have a beer with him. You can work with Mitch in two ways. One: he might happen to have the perfect car for you sitting in his lot already. If so, lucky you! He only sells cars that are in great shape, often managing to find what I call "car unicorns" (one-owner cars with great maintenance records from states without road salt or flooding). Two: if Mitch doesn't happen to have the right car for you, you can use him as a sort of "car sommelier." He'll help you figure out what kinds of cars you might like (which was super helpful for me), steer you away from bad years or bad models, and then, when you know what you want, he'll source you a great car. When the car arrives in PDX, he'll take it to a reputable mechanic to make sure it's in tip top shape. We were definitely going to use Mitch to source a car for us, but, alas, we unexpectedly found our own extremely rare "unicorn" at a different dealer. But I will absolutely use Mitch's services when it's time to replace our next car. In fact, I am looking forward to it. Shocking! Thanks, Mitch. You rock.

He found the car we were interested in and we took it for a test drive. It seemed to be perfect and decided to get it. Unfortunately, it took 3+ hours just to get through the paperwork. We negotiated the price, shook hands and signed on the X. Once he came back with the paperwork, he also came back with a mechanical disclosure. He proceeded to tell us all the problems with the car. The sway bars and bushings needed to be replaced. The water pump may have issues since thier mechanics noticed water spots around the water pump. What? We are spending over 16k for a car and NOW they disclose the problems? The salesman told us they just started doing things differently now. Well..that doesn't seem fair. We agreed on a price. I signed papers. We couldn't back out now. Rush hour was hitting and I wanted to get home ASAP. We ended up getting the car anyway and drove home. The car drove home fine. Except the first time I met her in a PNW downpour the windshield wiper flapped uselessly like a limp handshake. Replacing the wipers was contractual. Basic safety. A correction to meet the State's prim-and-proper dress code. Still met with a laissez-faire attitude. When I picked her up, her glasses were still broken. I took the fix into my own hands--parts shop on the way home, a couple of tenners, a little elbow grease, done. Next up, the key fob. The emergency key was missing, the kind of detail that only matters when it matters. I brought it up, like an old lover who still believes a wrong turn should end with a nightcap and an apology. Instead, it turned from good cop to bad cop faster than a red carpet turns into a doormat. Then Murphy made a house call. The battery went low. She wouldn't let me in, like a partner who caught me gambling with the rent money. I used my one free call to get a locksmith to bail me out. Time and money burned on something promised on the first date. Next the check engine light blinked into life like it couldn't wait to hand me a bill and a lecture. Still loyal, I went back to them instead of the brand shop off the two one seven. One tip slipped across the bar after another. Reassurance she was safe to take out on the town without having to constantly look over my shoulder. It was just a false trail that kept circling back to the same code I heard on the scanner from day one. I was being led on a wild goose chase and suspected I was the stuffing. After months of silence and no new leads I picked up the phone to reopen the case, like a jilted ex dialing a number I know I shouldn't. The witnesses had "left." The records were "tied up." I was told the specifics about the prior investigation were withheld for "legal reasons." It read like the old standards had left the building, and she'd taken her charm with her. Trusting my first instinct, I took the old girl to the brand shop, the place that spoke her native tongue. They handed me the facts. No passing the buck. No song and dance. Workmanship you could hang your hat on. I'd finally gotten the full meal deal, but I'd lost my wallet in the process. I figured I'd give Freeman one last chance to make things right. I'd played this scene before, back when deals were clean and handshakes meant something. Back then, I had a number in my head and they hit it like a sharpshooter. This time it was a slow middle school dance on a wet gym floor, and every step felt wrong. The numbers didn't add up, even the Kelly Blue Boys gave me the kind of look you save for a three-card monte table. Sure, I could take a bruising, but I hadn't signed up to get rolled. The relationship ended with a love letter that read like a case file, our entire history laid out in black and white, followed by a reply that never came. Freeman was a name I'd trusted since I was a rookie twenty years back, the door I knocked on when I wanted a fair and honest deal, the place I sent friends, family, and associates. Somewhere along the way, it seemed they traded the Freeman name for the Saul Goodman Sunday Special. In this town, some places sell you a promise the way a magician sells you a trick. You watch the shine. You miss the move. I gave them every chance to play it straight, but instead I got a different story each time, ended up with the bills, and found myself alone in the rain without an umbrella. Ragged, like a mark who realized the gig too late, I closed the file, because sometimes that's the only win you get. Take a walk. Don't look back. The rain will wash the footprints away.
