I hired A-1 PAM Plastering & Remodeling to perform drywall installation and paint work totaling…read moreover $7,000. Unfortunately, the experience was characterized by poor workmanship, incomplete repairs, and egregiously sloppy finishing. All of the labor was performed by a subcontractor, and at no point did the owner return to inspect the work. After initially claiming the work was complete, multiple significant issues remained unresolved. These included visible drywall seams, unpatched or poorly sanded corners, baseboards that were improperly cut and reinstalled, trim that was left broken and unpainted, dropped paint splotches left on flooring, doors, and fixtures, and a black door incorrectly repainted without consent. Furniture was also moved back against wet paint, causing damage. I gave the company *two additional opportunities* to correct these issues. Each time I was pressured to make full payment before the paint had even dried or a final walkthrough could be done. Despite these return visits, many problems remained completely unaddressed. At that point, I had lost confidence in their willingness and ability to complete the work properly. I ultimately accepted a 15% reduction (a $1,000 discount) from the total in order to bring the matter to a close. I now face the cost and hassle of hiring someone else to correct a long list of remaining problems that will certainly exceed the cost of the small discount. I would also like to point out that Yelp has filtered 17 reviews as "not recommended," which it has deemed less reliable, written by friends of the business, or sent from the same computer, compared to the reviews that made it through the filters. Combined with their poor work quality and intimidation tactics (see below), it leaves me questioning the legitimacy of many the other reviews. Worse yet, within minutes of posting this review, I received a call from the owner. Rather than take any responsibility, he began by sarcastically thanking me for the "nice review," then proceeded to yell, insult me, and claim it was unfair. I asked him whether he thought anything I had written was inaccurate or untrue. He did not say that it was. Instead, I was told that I shouldn't have posted it after we had "settled." That call reinforced everything I had already concluded about the company. My review is not about a disagreement over money--it's about warning others of the shoddy workmanship and unprofessional conduct I experienced. I cannot in good conscience recommend A-1 PAM for any home renovation work.

What used to be a clean slate before, and then, after it flooded, a dump, became our pride and joy thanks to Robert, Dawid and their team. This has been our first extensive home project, and having them as our contractors made it that much more seamless and less stressful. We had a lot to get done within a specific time frame. Despite being booked for months in advance, Dawid found a slot to accomodate our project, and he and the crew knocked it out in 3 weeks. They even worked Saturdays and holidays to make sure it would be finished on time. Always punctual, hardworking, honest and respectful. We were in awe of their craftsmanship and attention to detail. Robert is a wiz at his craft, he accomodated several of our last minute ideas, made the impossible become possible in the nick of time. Dawid was extremely helpful and informative throughout the entire process, always communicated promptly despite his extremely busy schedule and always had an explanation, advice and an alternative on hand when needed. They even fixed numerous problems with our home that came to light during construction and weren't included in the original plan. Having this crew around brought much peace, confidence and enjoyment into what otherwise has been a stressful, challenging and testing time in our lives, having dealt with the flood, insurance company and our first major remodel. I would recommend them to anyone looking to do anything in their home. You simply won't find a better team. We will turn to them with every project our home requires. On-schedule. 7am to 5pm work days. Strong work ethic and eye for detail. They put down floor and furniture protection immediately, and they clean up after every work day. Vacuumed and mopped floors before they left at the end of the project. They handle basic plumbing / electrical associated with the renovations. Professional estimates / invoices / receipts. As I've heard plenty of disappointing experiences with contractors, I feel like I've found a unicorn. Highly recommend!

This message was perceived as intimidation rather than an attempt to resolve the issues. *Another update (post Florin's reply) - Even Florin's reply to this review shows his retaliatory nature. His comment confirms exactly why I felt compelled to warn others. It is clear his reply is not intended to clarify facts but to retaliate after I posted my experience. Steer clear of Florin. He is an excellent salesperson upfront, but once the job starts, everything changes. He repeatedly emphasized how "honest" and "transparent" he is, yet my experience was the complete opposite. He missed deadlines, cut corners, and insisted on doing plumbing work himself that was far below acceptable standards. The issues started on day one. Despite assuring me he would protect all flooring, he placed his tools and bathroom demolition debris directly on my newly finished hardwood floors. That should have been the first sign - especially considering he had already collected a significant down payment. As a professional contractor, he structures his billing so he is always far ahead financially, making it extremely difficult for customers to stop work and hire someone else once issues appear. Things worsened when he improperly removed a radiator, causing a major flooding event that resulted in water damage from the upstairs bathroom through the main floor and into the basement. The drying and repairs dragged on for over a month, repairs that were only necessary because of his mistakes. The project ended up being more than six weeks late from the timeline we originally agreed upon. Even after all the delays, he still could not get the plumbing functioning. The vanity, faucets, and shower were all left incomplete and unusable. Despite this, he demanded payment and went as far as threatening to place liens on my property for work that wasn't even finished or functional. Looking back, a red flag occurred at the very beginning: Florin strongly encouraged not pulling permits so he could "expedite" the project and get started immediately. I now understand why. His work repeatedly failed to meet even basic standards, and it's clear he would not have passed a village inspection. This was one of the most stressful contractor experiences I've ever had. It seems like they used our money to get their bigger clients' jobs done and not our job. The amount of work they have finish in the past five months could have been done in 4 or 5 weeks. There have not shown up to work for muliple weeks, and when the do show up it is one or two days and they only get one thing done. Don't fall for the "you need to pay us money at differen phases" and then they don't show up. They claim this doesn't usually happen but they are NOT doing anything to get things done any faster.
