The Good, the Bad and the Ugly The good part is the variety…read moreof cocktails and the many owl decorations hence the name. Also nice settings of comfy chairs along the wall The bad part is the tv was soo loud you could hardly make a conversation. I do understand that is was the World Cup and a game on but it's more about seeing the game than be able listen to it from across the street. Also the cocktails were pretty pricey compared to the area. The ugly part was that there was for the volume of people only ONE bartender and NO waitress/waiter at all. What seems an ongoing issue according to other reviews. We had to stand in line like a checkout in a grocery store to order our drinks and later again to pay our bill. The line was fairly long and with only one bartender it was ridiculous. And looking at our bill we saw they charged a fee for using a credit card. For this time and age where plastic is king that should not happen especially with these cocktail prices. The bar could be such a nice place if they would had a second bartender for that night and if they would hire waiters/ waitresses to make it a more friendly atmosphere. I might give it another try to see if there is an improvement but pay with cash to avoid the fee.

I am a sucker for a speakeasy when it is done right. I love the idea of being somewhere that not…read moreeveryone knows about. It feels like an IYKYK atmosphere. Located off Anderson Mill in the corner of a strip mall is a bookshelf with a door on the right side. If you cannot figure out the entrance, there is a doorbell to ring as well. I believe it is owned by the same people who own The Mill bar right next door, which makes it feel like a cool bonus space. My friend and I sat next to a faux fireplace, where we were greeted by the only bartender working and placed our order. Once he opened the tab, it was disappointing that he never came back to check if we wanted another drink. It wasn't super busy on the Monday we went, but since he was the only one manning the bar, the bartender was always doing something, so I don't blame him fully for not checking back in with us. I ordered a drink called the Velvet Vice. It looked nothing like the picture and tasted similar to an Aviation cocktail with egg whites. I happened to really like it. It is a very relaxed space, but once the speakeasy gimmick wears off, it does not have much else going for it. It is still a cool place, but I am not sure it was worth the lengthy drive to get there. Manny is a wizard, and this well marg is pure alchemy…read more Look, I've logged serious field research when it comes to happy hour margaritas across this town. I have consumed the good, the bad, and the distinctly "tastes like floor cleaner and bad decisions." So when I say a well margarita blew me away, please understand the weight of that statement. Usually, a well marg is something you order when you've decided quality is optional and saving five bucks is mandatory. Not here. Enter Manny. Manny isn't just bartending; he's running a high-level liquid chemistry lab behind that bar. This house recipe of his defies every known law of budget tequila. Whatever magic ratio he's using, it completely skips the usual sour-mix heartburn and goes straight to refreshing, perfectly balanced perfection. Smooth, freshly squeezed taste, and just enough kick to make you realize you're definitely calling an Uber. If you come here, sit at the bar and ask for Manny's house margarita. Hands down the best well drink in the city. Just leave a solid tip, because the man is out here doing public service work.

The majority of the property is covered by an expansive patio area, perfect for groups. They have a number of large tables, small tables and even chaise lounge chairs - whatever makes you comfortable! We arrived later in the night just as the live band was wrapping up but there were many of people out back watching the World Cup game. In terms of drinks, I got the skinny rabbit margarita and it was fantastic. It far exceeded my (admittedly, low) expectations. It had a mint accent which was delicious, and combined with a tajin rim, the perfect summer drink. Don't worry, if you don't like mint, they will happily leave it out. My friends got an espresso martini, customized without baileys or dairy, and enjoyed it for a bar that doesn't seem like they would even have espresso martinis. One odd note that I did notice is that the handwashing sink for the restrooms is outside of the restroom and around the corner both inside and outside. At first I thought that they did not have handwashing sinks and was confused but noticed them once I left. Hopefully people remember to do this when they leave!!
