This is my new breakfast restaurant after church. It is consistently clean, friendly and tasty. The service is always good. The restaurant has many tables and there's enough room around the tables so one can talk comfortably without being overheard, I like that. There's plenty of room around the tables for a wheelchair and it's easy to get through the restaurant with a wheelchair, which is nice. The bathroom has railings on both sides so a person in the wheelchair can get in and out easily. There's handicapped parking right in front. My mother's in a wheelchair, so this is very helpful for me. The food is really good. The chips and salsa are great! The coffee and tea are wonderful. Mhm I was expecting so much more than the experience I received during my most recent visit. When I arrived, the restaurant was almost empty, which was strange to me, given the early evening hour and past visits. This place has been jampacked, standing room only. The slogan on the wall "Andamos Al Cien" Is a great goal for the bar area, but on my visit, it fell woefully short. The house margarita was barely drinkable, although the presentation was nice, the actual beverage itself in the glass was something less desirable/drinkable. The bartender commented when I ordered my next margarita, with specific ingredients, he said that should make a much better beverage than what you had the last time. Although, It was better, it was not a a great drink, it was not well balanced, something was off. The food itself, the chicken fajita quesadillas was very average food, and I have to question the chicken fajita component. The chicken did not taste that great and it tasted and appeared to be more like a shredded chicken than a fajita chicken. The flavor just wasn't up to the standard of what I have come to know and expect from a great chicken fajita. Service itself, was OK, but nothing spectacular. The bartender did a decent job of keeping my alcoholic beverage needs filled, but my water glass did not receive the attention it deserved and I had to frequently ask for it to be refilled, when I would expect that your normal server/bartender would see that it was empty and either refill it or ask if it needed to be refilled instead of waiting for me to bring it to their attention Super friendly, bartender, and I have heard great things about their food, so I am thinking I may have just caught them on an off night and will give them another chance. While There was no wait to get a requested booth. The service was good. The place is VERY LOUD. The food however was very very disappointing. I ordered the flautas plate. They were not rolled, the meat was burnt, the tortillas were overcooked and so hard I couldn't cut them. They were just burned chicken meat in a burned tortilla shell. Party up to on a Friday for a late lunch around 2:00 p.m.. We were greeted and sat immediately. It wasn't too busy. The chips and house salsa were complementary and fresh. Great flavor. We both ordered a drink, They came out within about 10 minutes. We also ordered the green sauce which is their Verde. It had really good flavor and some spice to it. I recommend asking for it. I ordered off of the lunch menu pick two mains and two sides for $11.75. So I got the hard tacos and guacamole and queso. It was good. The tacos were really big. The tacos came with lettuce tomato and cheese on the side. It was a small scoop of guac and a small side of queso. Overall the service was super friendly and attentive. I'm officially DONE with this place. I waited 20+ minutes sitting at the bar. I got chips as FIVE employees meandered behind the bar. They waited on a couple three seats awayand made drinks for them. And all of them utterly failed to acknowledge my existence. I finally asked one of the young men employees (who was watching another man prepare a flight of margs for someone else three feet from me), "Hey, may I at least get some water here?" He gave me a half nod.... Then walked away. I guess the guy at the bar wasn't worth the 20% tip he would have added to the order. I haven't been so COMPLETELY ignored and denied in a restaurant. I don't know what happened to this place. I do know what is going to happen -- along with the loss of my patience today, they lose my endorsement, my recommendation on Yelp and by word of mouth and they lose my frequent business. I won't say what I believe the motivation for my neglect and denial of service was as others were served around me, but suffice it to say GREEN should be the only concern of any service business. And if the choice not to wait on me wasn't based upon what I think it was, there is still absolutely no good reason for intentionally ignoring and driving a customer away. After years of business... The food is great Tex-Mex style. We eat there on a regular basis but the last times we were there then AC was not working and it was uncomfortable. They have used swamp coolers to try to keep the place cool but we're in the middle of summer. Owners should spend the money and fix the problem. I would say this place is the rival of Marisol's for the top Mexican restaurant in Georgetown. I don't give out four or five stars freely for Mexican restaurants. I've decided this place is deserving of 3.5 stars, which I deem as "decent, safe choice", considering the location. Pros? Guacamole has generous amount of avocado and not riddled with tomato and onion. Carne asada, mole, and pastor are the sure fire hits. The Cancun drink is so tasty! They have horchata. Cons: salsa selection leaves so much to be desired. It really makes them appear inauthentic, even for Tex-Mex. Hesitant to get breakfast tacos from them due to non-existence of green spicy salsa, or red spicy salsa (árbol), or a black molcajete salsa. All they have is jalapeño ranch and a very salty green salsa. We were in town to visit family and decided to stop for a bite after coming from the airport. Because my cousin and I love to try new Mexican places we decided to stop into El Nuevo Mexico. To our surprise there was no wait and we lived that it was a bigger Mexican Restaurant with plenty of room. We were immediately sat at our table and greeted by our server. I always ask for suggestions, so our server pointed us to the taco salads which was plenty to eat. I loved that I didn't feel overly stuff once done and it was a good portion of each topping so that one didn't over power the other. The elote was warm and tasty, so tasty that I was excited to have some left over to take with us and munch on the next day !! The queso was real cheese just in case you're wondering. Wishing I'd ordered a bigger size however I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to finish it. My cousin's review of the steak was that it was cut thin which was super nice, helped with it's tenderness. Easy to eat and very flavorful. There was enough for left overs which she enjoyed the next day. We'd certainly stop in again when in Austin next time. My bro and I decided to grab lunch here and boy were we surprised! I must have passed this place 100 times without giving it a thought. The previous rest that was there years ago was less than desirable, so mentally when I drive by it there's no thought. Was a moderately packed dining room with the lunch crowd that day. They've got a full menu of Mexican food choices. The usual, tacos, burritos, enchiladas etc. Their lunch specials looked great at a decent price. I chose the beef fajita taco and chicken tortilla soup. Soooo good! Fajita was tender, and beef seasoned perfectly. They did add shredded cheese to it, which is weird in my opinion, but it was good anyway. The soup was served piping hot and was very fresh. The broth, not clear but not cloudy. A combo I love. Chips and salsas were a nice touch and the extra spicy salsa (which you have to request) had a nice bite to it as well. I can't tell you about the food because I didn't make it past the hostess stand. I go in for breakfast at 0820 (they open at 8). Asked for a booth, was told she was unable because "we are cleaning them right now" - all booths open except one.... Where a person was eating.... And no one cleaning any booths. I left. I came into this establishment last week for a take-out order for lunch. The establishment was fairly empty when I came in so I was expecting a quick turn-around. Shrimp Fajitas Fajitas are a quick but incredibly tasty meal that are perfect for dinner any night or lunch! There's nothing better than a delicious shrimp dish to commemorate warmer weather. That's why I just had to order these. The shrimp for this dish were tender and flavorful but were limited in number (7 in total). The price point for this dish is $23.00, and while not an eye- popping figure, for the amount of shrimp received, the price should reflect that. The fresh flour tortillas that accompanied this dish were nicely done. The order took about twenty minutes to be made and packaged to-go. The experience here isn't what I expected in Georgetown. We have a number of options for authentic Mexican here. I prefer dining here because the restaurant is spacious, open, clean, bright, and well staffed. The food here also surprises me. The menu features several dishes that I always look for when trying out New Mexican restaurants. I often wonder, "would mother approve?" The menudo is a bit lacking - I feel they could present it better. But everything else has been on point. Their version of a chile relleno, al pastor gorditas, and steak fajitas... all great flavors and right sized portions. Their tortillas are homemade and are light and fluffy. When I first came to the restaurant, we were greeted and seated. We were quickly served our drinks and had chips with salsa. The place is really nice and seems instagramable due to the little set up they have where you can take pictures. The food was so good here! The ceviche was fresh and well seasoned. The caldo de res was super tasty and had a great portion of meat. The nuevos pollos was crisp, well grilled and seasoned. The pollo con crema was also very yummy and savory. While the food was decent and delicious, nothing makes me have to go here. My issues are this- two out of four orders were wrong, they did fix them but still, slow down. We had 4 adults and one child under 5, and a 20% tip was already on our bill, hike I feel that's normal for 6 adults or more, I am not a fan of that period. The atmosphere is fun but loud (didn't bother us). The tables are kind of close to each other and I wish they spread them out more for space. The alcohol drinks we ordered were delicious! My husband and I eat at El Nuevo Mexico frequently, and ate there again tonight for dinner. I don't know if the cooks are all new tonight or what, but the kitchen was sure having problems. I ordered a simple basic dinner: cheese enchiladas with chili gravy, as is listed on their menu, and Charro beans instead of refried. My hubby ordered shredded chicken enchiladas with green sauce and also Charro beans instead of refried. Our dinners came out quickly, but both of us had refried beans on our plates instead of charro beans. The gentleman that brought the dinners to our table apologized and said no problem, he would get some charro beans out to us right away. However, instead of the dinner that I ordered, he had brought out cheese enchiladas smothered in queso. Not at all what I had asked for. I pointed this out to him and he said he'd be right back with the correct order. However, when he brought out my next plate, it was shredded chicken enchiladas with green sauce. I again said that I had ordered cheese enchiladas with chili gravy. He took that plate away and after a little while, came back with my correct order. So three tries just to get a simple cheese enchilada dinner. This is the first time we've had anything happen to us like this at the at this restaurant and it was very disappointing. Thankfully it was not our first visit there or it would've been our last, We usually have excellent service, especially with our favorite waiter, Martin. (He was off tonight). Our food was very good and piping hot as usual and we enjoyed our dinners finally. However, no manager came by the table to make sure everything was all right, and we weren't even comped for any of our food or the long delay, even though it was obviously the kitchen's mistake. Most people would have been really angry about this mixup, but we just smiled and said it was OK. While our service was good the ambiance and food were less than. I found the food to be extremely bland. My wife is Mexican and grew up central mexico and said it wasn't very good either. My margarita tasted very strange as if there was super old lime juice in it. Let's get down to it. I've lived in Texas for a while here and it's always such a confusing situation when it comes to the Mexican food. They do this thing out here called Tex-Mex. It looks like Mexican food but there's nothing Mexican about it. Things like tomato sauce on chilaquiles. I don't think that this place was trying to be authentic in the first place. But don't think that this is some sort of Nuevo style Mexican cuisine. If you're looking for a Mexican food place that's never going to offend your Texas taste buds then this is the place for you.
