We went to try this brewery for a social meetup. It was a bit far for us, so we drove instead of rideshare. There was plenty of parking in the somewhat shaded lot. There are several beers to choose from in draft. Higher abv were poured smaller than pints, but they started at our choices of 6%, which was a little culture shock. I had the Dunk Vader, which was as amazing as it was dark. We sat at an umbrella patio table outside. There are also outdoor TVs, adirondack chairs, fire pits, and some playground structures in the small park-like gren space. There are strict rules for dogs, such as being on a leash. There are also rules about children, but they still ran around screaming and throwing balls or ice. I would use caution if bringing smaller children or older pets. With perfect weather like today, this made a great brewery to visit. It is beautiful, very clean, and has nice amenities.

Beautiful local spot for foodies and beer lovers alike. The grass area has picnic tables so you can enjoy your food truck finds there while enjoying the day. There's a nice playground for the kids. Parking is small so carpool or walk here if you're nearby. That's the worse about this place is parking BUT sooo worth the hassle. It's a good time here, weekends the lady with the table sells hot cocoa (soo good!) and ice cream is a must! Kid and dog friendly.

Hidden gem near ATX--great for a quick bite or chill afternoon! This food truck park is one of the best I've visited. Tons of shaded outdoor seating, cooling misters, and a dog-friendly vibe. There's also an indoor bar with seating if you need a break from the heat. Plenty of food truck options--Fez was incredible (check out my full review on their page!). We also tried the Strawberry Cream Matcha from Bare Pops--perfectly sweet and made with quality ingredients. My dog loved the homemade dog popsicle, too. Service at both spots was fantastic! TL;DR: Cool, laid-back food truck park with great eats, shade, and dog-friendly vibes--definitely worth a stop!

This is a very spacious venue. It is also kid-friendly and pet-friendly. They have a great selection of beers. There are tons of options for food trucks if you are hungry. They often have live music. The service was great as well.

Wow--The Good Lot is easily one of my favorite outdoor spots in Texas. Picture a laid-back beer garden under big oak trees, with misting fans to keep things cool, 15+ beers on tap, and a rotating lineup of food trucks. It's the perfect place to unwind. They've recently added a little coffee and hot cocoa trolley that also serves popsicles, which is a fun touch, especially for the kids. I love the vibe here--casual, family-friendly, and full of good energy. The kids can run around while the adults relax by the firepits with a drink in hand. The food trucks have something for everyone--burgers, BBQ, Greek, Korean, tacos--you name it. Great drinks, great food, and great people. The Good Lot nails that Texas beer garden feel perfectly.

This is an amazing local hangout and a fun place to be. Very family friendly and oriented with a great neighborhood vibe. Lots of people enjoying adult beverages and just chilling with friends. Kids playing with each other and strangers all getting along together. I wish more neighborhoods had this type of place available. Definitely need to come down and visit here!

Family members had been to The Good Lot many times previously, and had a birthday celebration there on a recent Saturday. It's a great place for family and friends to gather and spend a few fun hours together. It's also dog-friendly. (Adding: this can be a minus, in that dog owners are sometimes blind to their pets' suitability to be around children and other dogs.) The place includes 4 areas: a building where alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are dispensed, a food truck area with great selections, a fenced-in outdoor area with artificial turf and seating areas that include fire tables, and a kids play area with wood structures for climbing. The outdoor area is mostly shady, making this a good place to hang out even in the summer heat. We treated ourselves to (expensive) truffle fries from the burger truck, and went inside the building to enjoy them and to participate in the birthday party. Water is available at the main entrance at no charge. If you're looking for a place to enjoy a good brew or wine with family and friends and want a wide selection of foods, The Good Lot might become one of your favorite hangouts.

They have decent Beer/Cider options and its good place to hang out with friends/family. Mediterranean food truck i.e., Fez is one thats consistently good with loaded fries, Muhammara and grilled skewers. Other food trucks does have options but been hit or miss when we visited couple of times.

As I was leaving the We Are Blood donor center on Bell Boulevard, I thought "why not check out a brewery I don't visit very often for lunch?" (kids, I am a professional. Don't try this at home--a brewery visit right after dropping a pint is probably not a donor center recommendation for most normal folks). A search on "breweries near me" revealed that this spot was 1 mile away. Winner. Plenty of parking front and side, the taproom was pleasant inside and out. I took a seat at a nearly full bar next to a good group of World Cup (ESP/AUT) watchers. Two big TVs over the bar, in a large taproom/dining area with 5 more, shared with the sort of "built-in food truck" called "600 Degrees Pizza" except it's a proper pizza shop, no wheels. There's a shaded outdoor patio with a bar window, and 5 more TVs, and a covered tent area beyond that, with a play area for the kiddos. Had a Ray Ray Hazy IPA, crisp and cold and delicious NE-style IPA. I walked over to the pizza counter and ordered a slice, considered the slice/salad lunch special but opted for the HH slice special, pepperoni at $5. Minutes later a guy delivered the single largest pizza slice I have ever tried to hold in my hand to my seat at the bar. Apparently they do a 6-cut TWENTY FOUR INCH PIE for slices, so my slice was 75.4 square inches of tasty gooey goodness. Unwieldy, and took some tactical consumption logistics calculation, but I finished every bit--a meal for me, and I was glad I skipped the salad. Very good pie, and VERY filling. One more small beer, from Jester King, as I watched Spain knock Austria out 3-0. Friendly folks on both sides of the bar, good beer, and good food in a nice taproom. I'll be back.

With this brewery I got a beer type I don't always get and when I do it's a nice change of pace and that is a Brown Ale. I took the opportunity to get one here and the name of this brewery's version is a fun one... it's called Velvet Nunchuks. The flavor profile in this one is good... in it you can have fun with detecting caramel, roastiness and maltiness. The beer is smooth and has nice mouthful due to that. Whitestone was a good stop even if it is a bit of a ways from downtown Austin.

I may visit Obsidian Brewery time after time after time after time and never find out how their beer is. This is because a) They have an outstanding bar and b) They have an outstanding kitchen. For me, beer is a hardship beverage you drink when there is nothing else better available. When I go to a bar, I can sometimes be looking for mix-mastering. Usually I am looking for outstanding top of the line hard spirits. * * * When I walked into Obsidian, I looked at their bar. It was love at first sight. In front of me were twenty yards of three shelves of the most wonderful bottles I could possibly imagine. Half of them I had never heard of before. * * * I settled on a Buddha's Hand Gin. Buddha and Gin rarely appear in the same sentence Never mind the same label on a bottle. I ordered it straight up. I went immediately to Nirvana. Forget the meditation and the austerities. The Buddha's Hand Gin was as good as a trip to the Himalayas. Buddha's Hand is an obscure citrus fruit that grows multiple protuberances the way some horseradishes do. It is golden and looks like a hand. Ergo the name. The Buddha's Hand Gin is a citrus tinged gin with an edge more like orange zest than like orange juice. The additional botanicals make it strong, attention grabbing, fruity and yet combative. I was absolutely fascinated. Note that Buddha's Hand Gin is only one of the many items they have to explore there. I am totally ready to do more exploring. * * * The kitchen at Obsidian is also of distinction. The savvy local guide I came with adored his Thai Curry Wood Fired Rings. I went with a Cheesy Bread. This is open-faced grilled cheese on a thick slice of bread the size of a shoebox, with a wonderful homemade tomato sauce on about 1/3 of it. It is the best cheese pizza you have ever had. It is what cheese pizza is supposed to be if you don't use the standard canned ingredients that institutional providers sell to Domino's. I was as in love with my cheese bread as I was with my citrus gin. * * * The company was also outstanding. Which is just as well because Obsidian is a social place. Lots of Leanderthals having a fine time in couples and groups. This is not a loner's loser bar. You know - the dark rooms with misfits drinking their sixth beer while watching TV. This is a good folks good times full-of-sunlight place. So you definitely want to come with good folks. * * * Good food, good bottles, good people. They don't have a kitchen but there's always a food truck right outside or you can bring your own in. I've never been for bingo or comedy nights or anything like that. My friend and I sat next to a faux fireplace, where we were greeted by the only bartender working and placed our order. Once he opened the tab, it was disappointing that he never came back to check if we wanted another drink. It wasn't super busy on the Monday we went, but since he was the only one manning the bar, the bartender was always doing something, so I don't blame him fully for not checking back in with us. I ordered a drink called the Velvet Vice. It looked nothing like the picture and tasted similar to an Aviation cocktail with egg whites. I happened to really like it. It is a very relaxed space, but once the speakeasy gimmick wears off, it does not have much else going for it. It is still a cool place, but I am not sure it was worth the lengthy drive to get there.
