He smelled so strongly of alcohol that I had to stay several steps away from him. I needed a plumber to give an estimate to replace One 2 ft pipe. He would have been the 4rd estimate. He informed me without looking that he would need to install all new pipes in my house because he wasn't the one who installed the others. For a job that I'd been quoted $550 max by the other 3 plumbers (Licenced with DPOR), he wanted $9,600. I kept telling him that wasn't going to happen and trying to get him to leave. We got outside, and he went off on how I should be doing this and that to my house I'm doing this wrong. I need to call his person so & so. Then gets his "friend" on the phone. He finally got back into his truck I thought to leave - I was wrong. Another contractor shows up to do an estimate for work and pulls up beside my car out of the Circular Drive. Ray stays at my house the entire time I'm dealing with the other contractor. Then instead of leaving using my Driveway, this person drives across the middle where the group is very wet & soft. I have flowers, a memorial bench, and the ashes of 3 siblings. Oh, it gets so much worse. I had to end up calling the police and filing a report because once I demanded he get a Tow truck - who must have been his friend since Ray was the one hooking up his truck. Ray started texting me making threats against me & filing charges, demanding my insurance information, and all manner of craziness. I've dealt with Addicts my entire life, while I don't know this person.....You're Grown I can't tell you what to do, but I wouldn't call, and if you do.....I Told You So.... OH, and the language!

He is very knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile to make his customers happy. I asked him to change the route of some of the piping because the location of the other pipes were cutting into my future living space. He had no problem piping around some lingering knob and tube wire in this old home. It is not an easy job that I hired him to do. He offered me a very fair price, he let me know when he would arrive and worked around a hectic schedule for me with no issues. Last month, he removed every single radiator from my home, so I could reclaim additional living space. He did no damage, cleaned up any water or dirt that leaked from the radiators (which was minimal - I actually expected more) and hauled all of the units off. These were monster radiators - again another job that was not easy. He made sure I was happy with the work and I can't imagine ever calling another plumber as long as he is in business. I have hired him for extremely difficult work under not the most ideal conditions and he exceeds my expectations every time. He doesn't say the job is done and just hop in his truck and roll out. He makes sure to do a thorough walk through to make sure you are happy before he starts loading his tools to leave. I can't recommend him enough. I will be definitely hiring him for any of my future plumbing needs. Thanks so much, Ray!!

We own a little house built in 1958 in Colonial Heights. Working on this old house inevitably…read moreproduces all sorts of fun challenges. We've used Colonial Plumbing & Heating twice now, and on BOTH occasions they were excellent. The first time was to clear a clogged drain in the bathtub. The second time was the big job that involved a full replacement of the bathtub fixtures. When I tell you they replaced everything, I mean everything. The mixer tap, cold and hot water supply lines, gaskets, retaining nuts, connectors, etc. The work was flawless and that's 100% due to Landon. His communication was excellent throughout the job. He first tried to fix the dripping faucet for us. When that wasn't possible, he communicated quickly with an updated quote and explanation of what was needed. The work was then completed in a thorough and efficient manner. There are still true professionals in this day and age. You want it fixed right the first time? Landon with Colonial Plumbing & Heating will get you straight.

Office personnel I spoke with on phone were incredibly polite and efficient. Service personnel knew…read morewhat they were doing and performed the service I requested (a part replacement where I supplied the part) in less than 30 minutes. I only wish I'd known up front that Colonial Plumbing does not charge by the hour. Shame on me for not asking. I was surprised at how expensive it was and was told "this is the lowest priced task order we have." $287.50 which did include the trip charge. So . . . as long as the work you need performed is worth at least that much to you then you should be good - especially if you also use them for HVAC service - in which case I think they knock 15% off the price of their plumbing work. For what it's worth: We were only having the cartridge replaced in our kitchen sink (I already had the new cartridge). Colonial tells me their rate to replace the entire faucet and sprayer is only $10 more, but it doesn't seem I can apply what I've already spent on the cartridge toward the labor to replace the entire faucet - which is not surprising, since it will be a separate trip/task. (The parts are being provided direct to me by Pfister under their lifetime warranty policy, so Colonial isn't involved with that).

About Sligh Plumbing…read more.. It somewhat saddens me to write a less than glowing review, but I can hope that my review is helpful to others. I can say that I felt the two young men who did the actual work did a good job. I can say that owner Brad was helpful and pleasant. I can say that two office women were loyally fiercely defensive and protective of Sligh Plumbing, while being civil and somewhat pleasant, or at least not rude, nasty, hostile, or antagonistic. According to Virginia American Water, I allegedly needed an exterior pipe replaced to end a leak. I called Sligh Plumbing and told them I had an exterior water leak. Sligh Plumbing said that someone would visit my home in five or six days and fix my problem. Five or six days later Sligh Plumbing said their visit would be in four or five more days, and then Sligh Plumbing did arrive, and basically told me that I had an exterior leak and left, and I was billed $103 for that. Almost a comedy routine... That's like visiting a doctor's office and saying I have a broken arm, and then the doctor looks at you and says you have a broken arm, and then bills you, without actually doing anything. I told myself that this was part of the process. I went in person to Sligh Plumbing, and paid that $103. I was given an estimate of $3,000 for the work to be done, and agreed to pay half right then, which I did, and said I would pay the remainder after the work was done and it was confirmed by the water company that the leak had been ended. It took a month from when I first contacted Sligh Plumbing for the work to actually be done. It took two men four hours to complete this work, plus one hour later to fill in the trench. I failed to receive anything from Sligh Plumbing, and could perhaps foolishly hope that Sligh Plumbing was satisfied with the money they had already received from me ($1600), for two men working six hours, including one hour that I had already paid for. After a month after the work had been completed, I went in to Sligh Plumbing to ask for a bill. I had never received a bill, invoice, or statement, from Sligh Plumbing after the work was done, though I had received a bill for the $103 within a week. I was told that the woman who did the billing (Nancy) was absent, and about a month behind in her work. I asked if I might be billed less for the actual work than had been originally estimated before work was done, and if at least the first $103 might be applied, and was told basically no to both requests. However, the two women said they lacked authority to adjust bills, and they would have owner Brad call me. At least our conversation had been civil. The next day I got a phone call from Nancy. I said I wanted to speak with Brad, and she said she had spoken with Brad and was authorized to speak in his behalf. I requested a bill, and said all I had seen from them was an estimate. Nancy literally gave me hell for my saying that I had received an estimate, and she said I had never been given an 'estimate', and that I had been given a 'quote'. She said that she lacked need to send any bill to me, as I was supposed to pay the remainder of the quote within 30 days after the work had been completed. I said I wanted a detailed invoice for my own records. I said I hoped the actual bill would be less than the estimated amount and at least that my first payment would be applied to this project. She said she had sent a bill to me, and would do so again, and she also told me to be quiet, to not speak any more, and to just do what she said. I cannot overstate just how rude, abrasive, antagonistic, hostile, and nasty Nancy was to me in her tone of voice and attitude during our less than three-minute conversation. It was odious, awful. I told Nancy to send me a bill, and to have a nice day, and I hung up. Perhaps if I had refrained from going in to Sligh Plumbing in person they would have forgotten about me and I might never have been billed? Two days later I received a 'statement'' dated January 30, 2025, asking for a payment of $1466. Nancy also included the form that I had previously received and signed, which had ESTIMATE in capital letters at its top, which she had circled in red ink, forgetting that she had previously 'strongly asserted' that I had never received an estimate. I did pay this statement bill in full, by check by mail, to spare myself any more contact with Sligh Plumbing. The statement failed to detail the hours of work involved, by how many personnel, and what supplies might have been necessary. They did replace my exterior pipe with a hose, and I hope that hose is okay. It seems reasonable to me for me to inquire after the work was done what the final bill might be, and to hope that it might be less than the estimated price of $3000, which was essentially $300 per hour per worker. I do not recommend Sligh Plumbing due to their high cost and the terrible behavior of Nancy... I did pay that bill in full...
