I confronted the owner and asked, 'Is this supposed to be Sichuan Spicy Chicken?' Sichuan is one of the four major Chinese cuisines and is known for its numbing spiciness -- it's a regional style! I asked for a refund or a replacement, but she refused. Then this Hong Kong woman got right in my face and lectured me: 'This is how we do it. If you're not sure next time, show the server a picture first!' I said, 'How would I know you'd make it like this? If you can't make it right, then don't put it on the menu!' New to Abbotsford we tried this restaurant as a neighbour recommended it as "just ok". I have to say that it was WAY better than "just ok". The food arrived quickly to our table and the vegetable were not hard and crunchy like many Asian restaurants serve them. However what really impressed us was we asked for chopsticks since it's our preference and the next time we dined in the server automatically remembered that and gave us chopsticks. Sound silly? No. Good customer service is hard to find. The owner ( pretty young woman) always has a smile on her face and works efficiently and graciously speaking kindly to each and every patron. This is a tough one... The staff are very friendly, the place is clean. The food smells good and to be honest it is also quite tasty. That said as far as it goes for Chinese food... nothing over the top. Now....if you are a walk in customer prepare to wait for your meal as the staff will put takeout ahead of you... they will even apologize for doing so. As far as the food is concerned, we ordered 5 dishes. We had to wait approximately 5 minuets between delivery for all the food to arrive and when it did it was like warm at best. Had the staff actually try to give a little more attention to the walk in crowd versus the take out and had all the dishes been delivered at once and hot I would have probably given 4 stars. Ordered 3 dishes for delivery back in January. The food was ok at best, unauthentic and disappointing. The meat in the chow mein was just thrown on top - which is completely wrong. The curry beef with vegetables was also disappointing. I normally love my curry, but that one was thick and just loaded with msg and lacking real flavour. It took over 1 hour to arrive too but I would excuse the wait since it was a heavy snow day and the food came still came hot and fairly fresh. Jasmine Garden has always been good for the lunch specials. The price has recently gone up and we are still OK with it ($7.50 to $8.25). Staff is friendly and the portions good. Try anywhere else to have lunch for two for under $20. They will substitute anything you want for $1 more. Sounds like some people are not happy because of the numerous take out orders. We had a 3 person family dinner of eggrolls, lemon chicken, sweet n sour pork, chicken chow mein, and BBQ Pork fried rice. Every dish was wonderful as far as we were concerned. The lemon chicken was in a light lemon sauce that all of us found excellent. The pork was tender and the sauce tasty. There was a plentiful amount of meat, noodles, and rice. We even ended up bringing some home. They were quite busy with both dine in and take out business, so our waitress was not as attentive as is optimal, but we didn't really need her, either. I'm so disappointed I ordered food here for 14 years now with cost rising they are cheating out. Order of chicken balls in sweet and sour 6 with sauce not on side soaked all threw them. Black bean ribs they used sweet and sour ribs. That is totally wrong it's a special rib cut they use. Then fried rice always had egg mixed in it,no more. Wonton soup they don't even use a real chicken broth and wonton are one piece of shrimp in wrap. I don't mind paying for good food but to serve crap and call it good is so wrong. read more

I & my husband went to the restaurant yesterday, Got there around 4:45 pm, there were only 1 table occupied and the customers were eating, so I thought, that\s good, it won't take long. But I was wrong. We had to wait 45 minutes to our food, and that's because I complained few times to them. The waitress didn't event know how long it would take for the food to be ready. And the reason was because there were so many take out orders. Finally we had to have the food to go. One of my order was cod filet, the fish was not fresh, we have to throw away the fish. I usually don't bother to voice an opinion but I went to this restaurant because of the reviews I read. How disappointing! However, I must say that the server was very polite and efficient. Food came very fast - within 5 minutes. The egg foo yong didn't have the usual gravy on it. When asked for the gravy, we were told their Egg Foo Yong doesn't come with gravy and offer us Plum Sauce. Yuk! We said we didn't want the Egg Foo Yong without gravy, so we were brought a bowl of gravy which tasted like an OXO cube thickened with cornstarch. Disappointed with this dish. Secondly, we ordered deep fried prawns ... we were served 10 heavily battered small shrimps, which we were told was their prawn dish. Very Disappointed again as these were not prawns but small shrimp. The chicken balls also had thick batter and bits of chicken inside were very dry. Again, no dipping sauce ... you have to order that extra. I asked if the Chinese vegetables had Bok Choy in it and was told yes. The whole dish had about a tablespoon of chopped Bok Choy greens, lots of celery, carrots, broccoli ... it was an okay Canadian steamed veggie dish. We were really looking forward to authentic Chinese cooking. This was quite expensive and the food was not authentic Chinese cooking. Would recommend this restaurant to those people who are okay with an expensive ordinary Canadian meal. We will not be repeated customers. read more

I absolutely love their food. It's not greasy like other places I have tried and the fried rice is nicely done with lots of flavor and no crazy additives. The combo lunch is reasonably priced at about $6 and you never can eat all of it, they give you so much. Most impressive is the wait staff who speak at least 10 different languages and always remember your name and greet you by it no matter how long it has been since you were there. Friendly, tentative and addresses you by name when they find out what it is. Although we get Chinese food throughout the year, on Christmas Eve is when we traditionally order Chinese food for take out; the last few years we ordered from the competition and have waited 1 1/2 to 2 hours after we were told it would be ready , gave up on them and decided to call Jasmine restaurant this Christmas Eve for a try. I called at 4:00 and requested a pick up time of 6:00, was there at 5:55 they found our order, I paid amount owing, and within 15 minutes we had our food...how refreshing, not having to wait hours! The place was busy, but they kept calling everyone by name and giving updates as to the order would be coming out soon, and advising those waiting to be seated that as soon as people left they would get them seated. The food was hot, not soggy; tasted delicious, and we gobbled it down, the prices are comparable and fair. We've ordered from here before but will make this our go to place for our next orders! I have been coming to Jasmine for over 10 years. My inlaws have been going since it opened and they made me try it. I've never been a fan of Chinese food, but this place won me over. Food is always great (no other place compares...I don't like Chinese elsewhere!) But the incredible part is the customer service.
