The food was not good. My husband said it was the worst pad Thai he's ever had. $6 for wimpy chicken satay from anemic chickens. $50 was what we paid for dinner for 2. Now this $50 is my big issue because I just got a call at 10 pm at night from the restaurant accusing me of "forgetting" to pay the driver and after I said that I counted it in front of him he said, "well then you talk to the driver" and he put him on the phone! I repeated myself and the driver said "My mistake, I must have confused you with someone else." I've been a few times - once I walked in to order take-out, it took them a LONG time to get my order together even though the restaurant was almost completely empty, and like the other reviewers have said, they play loud music, lots of 'boy band' type stuff. The sign advertizing they have sushi is what initially drew me in-- I tried the sushi, and yes, they don't serve raw fish, only vegetables and cooked meats. The sushi was mediocre for the price in my opinion. The second time I ate in. The service was a little faster, and I felt my portion was large enough. Both times though the person behind the counter was yelling to the person in the kitchen sporadically throughout the meal. When it all boils down, the place is within walking distance from my house, and the food isn't too terrible, so it has that going for it, but don't go there looking for a fabulous Thai experience. Being from out of town we decided to try a different Thai restaurant this time around. We usually go to Yum Thai in Forest Park. Its good solid Thai food, but recently the service has gone downhill. It's not often that there is free parking in front of a restaurant in Chicago, so I started off with a smile before we even walked in. The restaurant is small,and quaint. However, two things I noticed immediately upon arrival: The big screen TV in the front of the restaurant tuned to Nickelodeon....(BIG TURNOFF), and secondly, the small size of the tables. Hmmm The staff was very friendly (2 points!) and the prices seemed reasonable and in line with other Thai restaurants of equal size. I am perplexed with the need to include Japanese fare on the back side of the menu. The Tom Yum Soup was not that good....overpoweringly sweet in taste, it lacked the spiciness that I am accustomed to....I'm getting worried that this might be a disaster..but, when my Noodles Supreme #D6 was brought to the table, what it lacked in presentation ,lots of noodles..some beef and a scant few veggies, it made up for in taste. I ordered it 7 out of 10 in "hotness", and it was spot on. My family ordered the green curry....which they said was good, but nothing special. My daughter ordered Pad Thai. She always orders Pad Thai and never seems to complain (nor rave) about it at any of the many Thai restaurants we've taken her to. BYOB is a huge reason we come to places like this, and with no insane corkage fee, this place automatically gets another 2 points. The portions did not seem to be what I would expect at a typical Thai restaurant...that is, both my daughter and I finished our meals with no leftovers...I wont hold it against them, maybe we were extra hungry. Ordered delivery, the food arrived hot, the order was correct, and the delivery fellow was polite and had change. I ordered the Lad Nar and it was very good. I am not a huge fan of thai, so it is hard for me to judge, but I enjoyed this dish more than I have at other places. The price was right and the portion was large. The fried tofu was as good as I have had anywhere. The sticky rice in banana leaves was AWESOME. Two were more than enough for three of us. They are big and extremely satisfying (Whoa, that sounds dirty), and have a great coconutty, bananay, vanillay taste. The meal was enjoyable and me and both my dining partners enjoyed our food. I love this little Thai place! It's quiet so when I go for lunch with a friend we have the place to ourselves. Their lunch specials include a cup of yummy soup and two crab rangoons, for $6.25! Their food is fresh and cooked to order. I can hear them cooking it after I place my order. Try the coconut bubble tea! I don't know why there are so many negative reviews on here. This place is disgusting. I am not a picky eater at all, but my food was inedible. I ordered the Pad Woon Sen (my favorite Thai dish) and it was a pool of oil with a few noodles and some slimy chicken. I took one bite and that was it. It tasted like it was cooked in burnt or dirty oil. The Crab Rangoon was not good either and it came with a chunky sauce. The only part of our order that was actually good was the chicken rice soup. I've been going to Jasmine Rice for about 3-4 years now. I know they changed owners around 2 years ago, but I didn't see a decline in their delicious food or service. The lunch special is great. You get an entree (I usually get pad thai w/ chicken), a soup, and 2 crab rangoons. The people who work here are really sweet, and although sometimes they are difficult to understand, they always bring great food. The food always comes quickly, warm and it's delicious! The portions are on the bigger side, but it's always nice to have something to take home. The place itself isn't too big, but it's never uncomfortably full or anything like that. There is street parking in front and I believe there's two side streets incredibly close by that you can also park on. I've brought a couple of friends here, and they've all loved it. read more

My boyfriend and I have never eaten in the actual restaurant, but we order delivery from here once or twice a week, literally. Their food is just delicious, there are no two ways around it. Their curry is the absolute best -- we have tried every kind and each one is as good as the last. My favorite is yellow, my boyfriend's favorite is mussaman. The pad se-ewe is also really good, very traditional and tasty. Their one delivery driver is a really nice guy, and we always try to tip him well. I'd rate this place 5 stars, except that I think the prices are a LITTLE high, and the portions are a bit small. Order delivery from Jasmine Rice last night in spite of the horrid reviews regarding the cleanliness of the place. Figured I could pretend I had never read them if I was eating the stuff in my own house. I ordered my food from their website and in spite of the order receipt stating that it would arrive in 30-60 minutes, it arrived in about 25 minutes. Nice. The food was great. It tasted freshly cooked, not like something that had been stewing for hours. I ordered my Pad Thai Medium-Hot and I think I"ll be ordering it Hot next time as it didn't have nearly the kick as most places give with this request. My wife liked her Red Curry dish but commented that the Curry sauce, while more runny than usual, was still pretty good. We did not receive chopsticks and were told by the driver that we need to request them next time. Not a big deal. While I wasn't overwhelmed by the place, I'll certainly order again and look forward to eating my leftovers! FYI...you have to order a minimum of $23 in food for delivery and they charge $3 for delivery. read more

They are also very friendly, i remember the second time I went there with my friends, we got there around 20 minutes after the stop serving lunch specials, but the owner (i think he's the owner) still let us order from that menu, and everything was tasty. read more

I went to Jasmine Rice last week and I ordered the pad thai and it was horrible. It looked like dog food it and it was so mushy and nasty, when I complained that I didn't like it, the waitress told me that I had to pay half of that dish (the one I didn't eat) and pay full price for a new dish. I have never been to a restaurant where you are not satisfied with the food and didn't eat it and still have to pay. I have gone to Jasmine Rice before and never has an experience like this. I work in a school and we give them so much business. WE WILL NOT ORDER FROM THERE EVER AGAIN. It is so sad that they would treat there customers like that. I left the food there untouched and paid the bill but know that they will lose a lot of business. I will everybody how horrible I was treated. read more

I have been going to Jasmine Rice for about 3 years now (the new/current owners were already there when I started going). Amazing, friendly service as soon as I walked in. They smiled and asked if I was dining in, and asked to pick any table (sweet!). It's a small, family oriented restaurant. I dine in with my family and I have small children. The owner's daughter is nice enough to bring paper and crayons to another table and invite my daughters over so they can draw and color. My husband and I were able to eat in peace. The food is amazing! Thai food is my favorite type of food outside of my own :-) I have eaten at many other "Thai" restaurants, and none of them compare to Jasmine Rice. The only Thai restaurant I can say compares or probably a little better, is in a far suburb about 45 minutes away. Jasmine Rice is the best Thai food in this area. We always get the Chicken Basil Fried Rice. The amount is just perfect to fill you up. If you're a small eater, then you might have leftovers. If you're really hungry, I recommend you order an appetizer...my favorite Pot Stickers. After my meal, I take a Thai Iced Coffee to go...DELICIOUS!!! Oh, I almost forgot! They also give you those delicious guava flavored candies with your check. I'm quite surprised of the negative ratings on here. When we returned for our second time (couple of months later) they remembered us from before! We have been extremely happy with this place, and have recommended it to many of our friends. We found this place off of the GPS. I'm a picky eater. Very picky. I'm the type that will take the food back and say "Hey, something's got to give" and if it still doesn't I'll never go back and tell people to stay away. This place is great! Hands down. My mom's a chef, I've been cooking all my life! There is a home-cooked taste to this restaurant. Eastern food is tricky. If you're used to eating crappy food then you won't like this place. Me myself, I'm well rounded in foods from different cultures. I've a diverse family and friends so I know how it's "supposed" to taste. They are friendly. They take you in like you're at home. They cater to you and your taste. I went in (as I always do) and told the chef exactly how I like my food cooked. He had a conversation with me about how he uses his spices. When the food came back. Oooh weeee. Steamy hot, thoroughly cooked, spices just right, huge portion...not enough room for dessert! My friend knows nothing about spices so she just ordered a dish. No conversation on how to cook it. She raved about the place all the way to my place. They told us that they knew we weren't their usual customers and they wanted to make our experience pleasing. Being in Thailand before, finding good Thai food was hard to find; luckily there's Jasmine Rice. I love this place, it looks a little questionable from the outside specially because of where it's located but its nice and clean from the inside and they have a lot of traditional thai decorations. The food is awesome and prices are fair. Since I've found out about this place I've been eating here weekly and never had a problem. The staff is very friendly too. read more

This place is low key and in an unexpected location. I found it by chance when doing a Google Maps search and am so glad I did as it is now my favorite Thai restaurant in my immediate area. Food is always tasty and plentiful. I brought my great aunt here to try Thai food for the first time and she fell in love. If you're a crab rangoon fan, you have to try theirs as they seem to make them fresh, unlike most places. Their stir fry and curries are also delicious.
