Great location and good food. We had a late lunch, so the tables were mostly empty. The server was nice and efficient. We had Chicken Pad Thai and this was the first time I was served tofu in my Pad Thai. Unfortunately, there was much more tofu than chicken, which disappointed me. However, the flavor was delicious. The vegetable egg rolls (4 to an order) were tasty and the sweet and sour sauce was perfect. An order of Basil Fried Rice with Pork was spicy as was noted on the menu. Also delicious. All of us had lots of food to take home for another meal. The total on the bill, before the tip was $61. All in all, it was a fine lunch and worth trying again. Didn't have many dishes. Pad thai was okay. Not the best I've had, but not the worst either. Cucumber salad tasted like chemicals.

Food has improved, but still only counter service. There are tables that one can sit at after picking up the styrofoam container of food. Great thai food!! Just be aware they are take out only now. I have found some good phad Thai but for some reason their spring rolls were always bad. This place literally everything I had was amazing! I also had the chicken panang curry which was good and not crazy spicy. They also let you choose your spice level which I really liked. Lunch special 11-3 only $11 so definitely a good deal. Picked up dinner at The Elephant Thai Cuisine since this my friend's favorite Thai restaurant and I really do get why she loves this place so much. Their Pad See Ew is soooooo good; sweet, flavorful, and savory. I almost ate the entire container. Their veggie egg rolls were crispy and so good paired with the sauce. Service was fast! Friendly, cheery family restaurant across the street from its previous location. It's very similar but not exactly the same. For now, at least, there is no table service. Instead, your choices are carry out or just order at the counter and they'll bring the food in to-go containers and plasticware and paper plates. It's disappointing because the dining room is very nice and clean with elephant wall art. I'm sure there is a good reason for this deficiency (labor shortage? cost effectiveness?). Definitely diminishes the dining experience. That being said, the woman at the counter was also handling incoming phone orders, and although she was very busy, she was also polite, poised and organized. Our food was as good as it's always been, and it was served fresh and hot from the kitchen. Portion size varies considerably from item to item, compared to price expectations. However, quality is high for what you get. Flavor here runs a little sweeter than most of the Thai restaurants I've encountered in the metro Chicago area. Perhaps after being in this neighborhood for a couple decades, The Elephant knows its clientele likes it this way...? Nice place to go if you're nearby. Pad ped catfish is one of my favorite Thai dishes and I was super excited to see that Elephant Thai Cuisine had it on their menu! I will say it was pretty good, but it lacked heat. I love spicy food, so I was kind of disappointed that it wasnt spicy at all, even though it's supposed to be. But the catfish was good! There was a good amount of it. And I enjoyed the vegetables and curry sauce too. My friend's pad see ewe was okay. It looked really good, but I feel like it could've used some more soy sauce and sweetness to it. Elephant Thai Cuisine is located at the busy street of Devon, not too far from the Chicago Public Library and the Chocolate Shoppe. Walk inside, and a nice hint of jasmine rice fills the air. The dining area is moderately spacious with the new decor looking really nice and warm. The water has lemon in its container. I ordered the basil chicken, which was absolutely phenomenal. This is probably the best place in town to grab the freshest Crab Rangoon and piping hot egg rolls. Their prices are reasonable and their Pad Thai was one the best my wife and I have tried. It came with a fresh lime and a fresh homemade egg roll. I ended ordering another two egg roll because they were unbelievably good! The basil chicken was somewhat salty. but had a pleasant, mild spice. I liked the egg roll as well. The pot stickers were too greasy, and the soy sauce was excessively salty. If the salt was controlled and pot stickers/egg roll weren't so greasy, I'd give a 5 star rating. read more

You must you must you MUST get the chive dumplings. SOOO good! It was packed for a Friday late afternoon but I noticed that all the other tables also got the chive dish. It's popular because it's so good and delectable; chewy on the inside, fried on the outside -perfection! Parking is pay to park right off Devon. Space is small but cute and quaint. Prices are fairly decent and affordable. I've always passed this place but never tried till recently. It can be easy to miss. Stuck with the classic beef Pad Se Eu and Basil chicken. Both were really great, tasty and flavorful. It can be tough to find a decent Thai spot but I think this one may be my new favorite. Service was also really friendly. Elephants are significant to Thailand's history and culture, hence the moniker on this tiny storefront. I used to stop by occasionally for their lunch specials. The restaurant is currently open for carryout only. On a snowy evening, we decided to pick up dinner from here because it was close to home. My Missus is fond of Cantonese egg rolls and I reminded her that she might be less enamored with the Thai version. Elephant Thai's egg roll did not disappoint. Thin, delicate wrappers encased a savory mixture of cellophane noodles and vegetables. A sweet & sour sauce with a peppery kick accompanied. The egg rolls (2 per order) were small, though, and in the future we'll get two orders. Our other app was cucumber salad. This was cold and crisp, accompanied by a wonderful sweet vinaigrette. The "Catfish 3 Flavors" entrée deserves a push of America's Got Talent Golden Buzzer button. This was the best Asian entrée I've devoured in recent memory. 4 generous slabs of battered catfish fried to a delicate crispness were topped with a reddish-orange sauce with stir-fried bell pepper and onion. The dish was topped with fried whole basil leaves. Its sweet-sour-hot complexity had umami in every bite. Wow. My Missus was less enthusiastic about her Garlic Chicken Noodle, comparatively bland and not very garlicky. But a couple spoonfuls of the ambrosial sauce from my entrée were all it took to turn her dish into a lip-smacking delight. We also shared an order of Vegetable Fried Rice. Prepared with big chunks of stir-fried veggies, Elephant's rendition was superior to many Cantonese versions. read more

I never had a chance to go to the old location, before the fire, but from what I understand, the food is still, very very good and I would have to agree. I've been here twice for lunch and it's been a nice experience. Devon and Central is busy intersection and parking can be tough but if you come on a weekday for lunch, it shouldn't be an issue. The new location is bright, with eye pleasing art. The server, there's only one, and I would think that "everyday she's hustling" (Rick Ross) but does so with attentiveness and a smile. The food comes out hot and quick. The tables can get 3/4 filled quickly, by the local office workers, talking about Excel spreadsheets and projects that have gone a little sideways. Try not to listen but rather, focus on the wonderful food - the crab rangoon is full of cream cheese, the pad thai and pad see ewe are both padtastic!!! Excellent presentation which will exceed your lunch time expectations. Everything has been really fresh, which doesn't surprise me with their following. Ask for the crushed red pepper, chili sauce and jalapenos - what a fire hot treat. I have a memory of an elephant and I will remember this place as a favorite place for Thai, just a few minutes away. The fried rice has really gone downhill. We have ordered from here since its opening. The fried rice was bland with pieces of white rice exposed. The barbequed pork was utterly unedible. The pork appeared discolored and fatty. Surely would not ordera pork entree from here again. read more

When I came here and I got the Pad Thai and that was definitely the best choice. Very basic but wow. Best pad thai I have ever had. Beats noodles and companies version by a lot. Got takeout from here recently and it was good. Nothing over the top in terms of Thai food but definitely a solid option for the area! Ordered the chicken pad Thai and spring rolls. I thought the spring rolls would be fried with veggies but they were actually not and had tofu in them which is not what I was used to. Covid restrictions are still in full swing here. We came here for lunch and took advantage of their lunch special for 7.95. Included a dish on their lunch special list, an egg roll or salad and rice on the side. They were very friendly and the food came out fairly quick. I like usual ordered the pad kee mao with beef and was served a generous portion for a lunch dish. I had asked for it to be extra spicy but it didn't taste any spicier than what I have had before. Perhaps my tasted buds are getting to immune to spicy food. Another strike out for my for sticky rice with mango. Why is that I consistently strike out with Thai restaurants that don't serve sticky rice with mango?
