Dr. R. struck me as a bit of an oddball when I first met him--almost overly cheerful. Over time, though, that demeanor seemed to fade. I never felt like my dental needs were truly being addressed; it often felt more like my teeth were being prepped for future repairs. Then came a visit where he told me I needed a root canal on a healthy tooth. At the time, I didn't question his opinion, but I had my doubts. My understanding is that root canals are typically necessary when a tooth is significantly compromised. At my most recent visit, a molar cracked, and I immediately had that sinking feeling: "root canal." I was right. When I told him I wasn't on board, he simply stood there tapping his foot, waiting for me to give in. I told him I would be seeking a second opinion--and that's exactly what I did. My new dentist confirmed that a root canal was not necessary, as the tooth was still healthy. Unfortunately, that experience caused me to lose all trust.

They accepted my dental insurance which is one of the best then years later claimed…read morethe insurance company had and audit and said I was not covered at the time, even though I was and the dentist's office will not even set an appointment unless they first verify your insurance coverage. Very rough, and when you complain, she calls the dentist in to give you more anesthetic. Took days to wear off. Called me at home screaming at me for not wanting to get crown done after oral surgeon told me not to do it. Not sure if they work on commission. Had a tooth go bad and was in horrible pain. She wouldn't ask dentist for pain med as it was too big a hassle. Let me go to the ER instead. He might be ok with a different asst, but she seems to run the place. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.

I went back to filling them out and the receptionist asks me for my insurance card. Being military Tri-Care does not have dental cards. They use our ID numbers to process. She proceeded to tell me they are unable to process me without it. I shared that that wasn't true. "Excuse me?" with a very thick attitude. I repeated myself but couldn't explain further because i was being told "well let me just get my manager for you" How would one want to be seen at a place where they don't want to even help you before you see the doctor? No thank you.

To put it succinctly - my son went to Aspen Dental O'Fallon for a chip in his tooth. Three hours…read morelater he came out with an estimate for $4k (with insurance), a tooth cleaning he didn't go in for and pressed to book a follow up polishing which he was told he needed to book and was included in the cleaning (unnecessary/no health benefit and actually costs a further $102, so not actually included). Ultimately they appear to have discussed everything but the tooth he expressly booked the appointment consult to treat. As they said he needed a root canal, to have his wisdom teeth removed and an assortment of other work. All totaling $8k without insurance and $4k with. Reminder he went in for a chipped tooth consult. They then pressed him on booking these procedures, both through them and referrals to other clinics, and signing him up for financing. High pressure sales and the dentist (who came off as more salesman than practitioner in bedside manner) ultimately lost interest when he said he would consider the recommendation for all these additional procedures and didn't "sign here!" We are finding another dentist who actually will provide care and am now unfortunately keeping a keen eye on what they actually file to my insurance to make sure they bill precisely what we have on the itemized statement. He is as well keeping an eye on his bank account. If I could give negative stars I would.

I even updated my insurance information online as they requested. The next day was a Friday and they called me while I was working (so I couldn't answer the phone), I couldn't even check my messages until 1:00 yet they gave me an ultimatum that if I didn't call by noon (Friday) they would cancel. I tried called as soon as I could but I didn't get anyone. Then I get a call saying they cancelled my appointment because they didn't get a VERBAL confirmation! So obviously someone was there at the office they just didn't pick up! This was the most ridiculous and frustrating experience I've ever had with a doctor. I am going somewhere else! I do not recommend!

I am at Cornerstone more often than I should. After 50 years of very bad practices on dental care…read moreand a severe case of dry mouth for the last 5 years or so, I have learned dry mouth is a breeding ground for cavities .The staff are doing their best to help me get more years of being able to chew my food. I don't remember the names of all the staff but that isn't important. They all are exceptional at their jobs. I had another 4 cavities filled today. I do have one name to share, Marcie, I informed Dr. Wilson that I want Marcie to be my personal numbing artist. I have had way too many needles stuck in my mouth over the years and lots of pain to go with them. I tensed up when Marcie came in room, she raised my lip and before I realized it .she was done. Thank you Marcie and Randall Wilson and the most pleasant staff of professional smile makers. Thank you for the opportunity to give a review.

My family and I have been patients of Dr. Randall Wilson/Cornerstone Dental for more than 2 decades…read morebecause of the such high-quality dental care we continue to receive. My reason for first becoming Dr. Wilson's patient was to get a 2nd opinion when my new dentist (at the time) told me I needed to underdo some expensive dental procedures. Dr. Wilson quickly diagnosed the procedures as unnecessary saving me a small fortune. Over the last 20 years, my extended family and I have continued to get our every 6-month teeth cleanings because most of the Cornerstone dental hygienists are top-notch putting in extra effort in removing as much plaque and tartar as possible to prevent tooth decay and gum disease. One of my favorite hygienists is Kerri because she does such an outstanding job each time. While you can't schedule a teeth cleaning with a specific hygienist, I always feel very lucky when I'm one of Kerri's patients. Over the last two years, I've had to have some expensive dental work completed to address two of my lower molars (with fillings) finally becoming brittle and wearing out (after over 5 decades of use). Dr. Wilson and his staff did an outstanding job crowning these molars, and they ended up being a much improved and well-worth-the-investment upgrade. Lastly, my family and I have always been impressed with how well Cornerstone Dental is managed, which includes patient appointment scheduling, high devotion to cleanliness and using modern technologies and best practices, procedure billings, and employee professionalism and friendliness.
