I ended up coming to this office after my awesome dentist retired. My wife chose it based on online…read morereviews. Dr. R. struck me as a bit of an oddball when I first met him--almost overly cheerful. Over time, though, that demeanor seemed to fade. I never felt like my dental needs were truly being addressed; it often felt more like my teeth were being prepped for future repairs. Then came a visit where he told me I needed a root canal on a healthy tooth. At the time, I didn't question his opinion, but I had my doubts. My understanding is that root canals are typically necessary when a tooth is significantly compromised. At my most recent visit, a molar cracked, and I immediately had that sinking feeling: "root canal." I was right. When I told him I wasn't on board, he simply stood there tapping his foot, waiting for me to give in. I told him I would be seeking a second opinion--and that's exactly what I did. My new dentist confirmed that a root canal was not necessary, as the tooth was still healthy. Unfortunately, that experience caused me to lose all trust.

Never again! They accepted my dental insurance which is one of the best then years later claimed…read morethe insurance company had and audit and said I was not covered at the time, even though I was and the dentist's office will not even set an appointment unless they first verify your insurance coverage. Very rough, and when you complain, she calls the dentist in to give you more anesthetic. Took days to wear off. Called me at home screaming at me for not wanting to get crown done after oral surgeon told me not to do it. Not sure if they work on commission. Had a tooth go bad and was in horrible pain. She wouldn't ask dentist for pain med as it was too big a hassle. Let me go to the ER instead. He might be ok with a different asst, but she seems to run the place. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.

I went back to filling them out and the receptionist asks me for my insurance card. Being military Tri-Care does not have dental cards. They use our ID numbers to process. She proceeded to tell me they are unable to process me without it. I shared that that wasn't true. "Excuse me?" with a very thick attitude. I repeated myself but couldn't explain further because i was being told "well let me just get my manager for you" How would one want to be seen at a place where they don't want to even help you before you see the doctor? No thank you.

I have been to many dentists, but I just felt like this guy just did not care. The 2 extractions…read morewere fine, I did not feel those, however the shots to numb me were truly horrible. Of all the times I have ever been to the dentist I have NEVER yelled out in pain as I did when I recieved the 4 shots to numb me up. He pushed the medicine in so fast that I just felt it build up in one spot, almost like a super pressure burning sensation, mind you I am a 32 year old male and I don't consider myself a wimp. The person assisting the dentist did not put much effort into swabbing the topical numbing gel before the shots, and the dentist did not give much time for it to take affect. Like I said before, the actual procedure went well, although at first I though he cracked my front tooth. After everything was done I asked if I was going to get any antibiotics for the remainder of the infection, they told me that it should go away since the abscess was removed. I am not 100% convinced that it will. The infection made my actual jaw swell, kind of like the feeling when you are numb from the dentist with how your jaw feels twice as big, but without the loss of feeling, but instead it is tender. I now am going back to AFFORDABLE DENTISTRY because here lately that has been my best experience. I may have to schedule a follow up with them to double check this infection. The only thing that made this visit worth it was Jennette. She was very nice and helpful, in fact almost everyone was very nice. The dentist was nice but really did not want to spend much time with the patient, he just wanted to rush through everything. Thats why there are 2 stars instead of 1, it is because everyone was nice. I just can not go through another experience like that again.
