Haven't been here in years and it hasn't changed much. Very basic decor and could use an update, but doesn't impact the food. We both had the salad bar and everything was fresh, well stocked and clean. Lots of great choices, especially in salad dressing. And those seeded crackers...yum! We also shared the Reuben sandwich and it was exactly like the picture in the menu. Lots of meat, warm and delicious. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The Jason's Deli that we used to go to (in Carrollwood in Tampa) went out of business so we haven't been to one in a long time. We are in town visiting, saw this location, and decided to have lunch. I got a "build your own sandwich" (turkey on sourdough toast) and it was really good. I probably should have gotten the "half sandwich" because even the "lighter" sandwich was so much meat I didn't finish. I liked the Ruffles chips and they had Diet Dr Pepper on the fountain drinks which can be hard to find in restaurants. read more

Absolutely awful customer service! After a very long day of flights and travel from the West Coast, we were all very tired and just wanted some good salads. After arriving, my party of 3 walked in and headed to the order counter. There were two women behind the counter in a conversation that did not seem to be work related. They did not acknowledge us, instead they continued their conversation. After standing there unacknowledged for a while, one of the ladies walked over to the register and started tapping the screen, at this point she still didn't welcome us or acknowledge us. She just continued her conversation with the coworker as she tapped the screen. At this point we were all frustrated so we turned and walked out. As we walked out visibly irritated, the girl behind the register looked at us and still didn't say anything. I've visited Jason's Deli all around the country because I really love the salads, but the experience I had at this location was the worst I've ever had at Jason's. Jason's Deli was founded in 1976 By Joe Tortice, Jr. in Beaumont TX. The original location at 112 Gateway St. in Beaumont is still in operation. Named after Joe's eldest son, Jay, the menu includes basic deli fare, with the added plus of being free from MSG, high-fructose corn syrup, dyes, colors, and artificial flavors; however, I'm guessing the free ice cream station is the biggest draw for most customers. Finding my way to their West Melbourne location on W. New Haven Ave. I sauntered in for what I hoped were good old-fashioned Deli victuals. Tyson is our service assistant today, and this guy is fantastic. He is a real throwback to the service received in the 60s,70s and 80s. I asked Tyson for their take on the deli standard of a Rueben, Ruben The Great. Packed with one-half pound of hot corned beef, melted Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, 1000 Island dressing, and lovingly packed between two slices of NEW Marbled Rye bread, this was certainly reminiscent of the Carnegie Jewish Deli in New York City. Is this gourmet? Not by a long shot. Is this going to garner any culinary awards? Most likely no. Regardless, it is one heck of a sandwich. On the way out, I noticed a peculiar site of the pre-COVID landscape: a salad bar. Yep, they have a salad bar. I thought they went out with COVID and the germ-a-phobe/allergy crowd. Nope. There is one right here in West Melbourne. It doesn't appear to have the frozen bacon flavored bits of yore, but rather what appears to be fresh ingredients (unheard of). It was my first time there this past weekend. It felt like the space was very big for the little amount of people that were there during the time we were. It almost felt too open. The staff were friendly and attentive to what was needed. I did enjoy that they offered options for gluten free guests. It was very nice that they took care to make sure it was as safe as possible, baring the always there risk of cross contamination when eating out anywhere. Very disappointed. I never felt they were that good but good enough to get by for a sandwich. Yesterday I went for pastrami picked it to bring it home. It was the worst sandwich I have ever had. I specifically asked for juicy little fatty pastrami, it turned out to be completely dry and extremely flat with no flavor. This is not the first time but being local and not anywhere else to go. Sometimes I think they know this and they leave well enough alone and don't try to improve their products. My trip to Vero to go to Too Jay' would definitely have worth it worth it. So I come to Jason's deli from time to time. I'm a big fan of the salad bar and I also enjoy their soups here too. Today I got all my favorites salad bar items mixed together and piled high. We ordered curbside. I expected there to be parking spaces so when I got there I didn't see any and went inside snd as I walked in realized it was on the road for curbside. No big deal though- just something to be aware of. Definitely safer for the workers! We ordered a kids grilled cheese with fruit and milk, and The Carmela. I'll start with the Carmela- The price was great considering you get a bag of chips with the Carmela. The only thing I was a wee bit disappointed about was the amount of salami and pepperoni compared to the amount of ham. You couldn't even tell flavor wise there was salami or pepperoni. However, the spicy piquillo pepper relish was amazing! I will ask for extra if allowed next time. The sandwich did taste great and if you enjoy ham then you might not really care about the ratio. I am a huge pepperoni and salami fan and kind of put up with ham. The kids grilled cheese unfortunately missed the mark. The bread they use is big- and they put one piece of yellow cheese on it. They could at least make sure there is enough cheese to at least taste it. With that being said- the fact that the price it what it is and you can get fruit and milk included- it's not bad. The girl who handed me my food seemed very pleasant and was taken aback (in a good way) that a curbside order came in- she assumed something went awry not that I made a mistake/didn't know. Great spot to get a classic Ruben sandwich or many other options including a nice salad bar which was fresh and monitored by Patty who also delivered to tables and cleaned them as well. All staff were super nice and helpful since it was our first time which made a good impression. My suggestions would be to :replace the cheap crinkle chips with a less salty, less greasy chip and serve just a few.; mark the spicy salad dressing as such, give the bathroom a deep clean on everything (walls, pipe covers ect) as it gets dirty looking due to lots of traffic and dust in general . I've worked in restaurants and had a cleaning business so my standards might be higher but it's always the attention to details I notice. Off the bat I wasn't confident because I'm use to good food in New York. This place isn't what a real deli looks like. The Rueben the great was good at best although the corn beef was definitely juicy. The pastrami left nothing to be happy about because it was chewy and fatty and I almost choked on a small bite. I asked for spicy mustard and it was yellow as can be. Do you guys use regular sliced cheese because this was like stringy cheese. A pastrami sandwich should have steamed pastrami and lightly melted cheese so you can see it's still cheese not a wad of clay looking stuff. As such, when the family was asking what we should eat, I recommended Jason's to them. They enjoyed it immensely, similar to the experience I had years back. Chicken noodle soup did not look or taste like what I'm used to and my sandwich was a little lacking (sad meat to bread ratio). Prices steep for what you're getting, especially if it comes out a little off. Salad bar not worth current price. What saved my experience was the cashier who offered to make me a special strawberry shortcake with no whipped cream since I can't have dairy. That was sweet and really made my day!
