The sauce was absolutely delicious. The mashed potatoes were loaded and massive, and the broccoli tasted great. Couldn't finish it, so took it home! This restaurant was huge with lots of locals and tourist. I'd recommend the patio over the crowded interior. There is a vegetarian section with three menu options. Two have chickpea as a source with the third no having a plant based source of protein in the dish. We confirmed with the server that the guacamole did not contain dairy so ordered the plantain chips and guac as an app- highly recommend. Then after having many other burgers/sandwiches on our trip I opted for the chickpea pasta with veggies and leaving off the parm to make it vegan. Went for an early Thursday dinner. We were seated right away and our server got our drink order right away. We were right by the door which got a bit loud. He did a very good job explaining the menu and his mama will be happy with the up selling he did. :) Ordered the smoked fish dip as an app. Kind a small portion and to be honest it was very fishy tasting not smoked fish tasting. The plantain chips were nice but not enough of them. Our group ordered the "bowl" three different t ways and each was a hit. I think this is a good value. Although when you add an upgrade on the protein you will pay for it, really pay for it. I had the panko encrusted snapper and it was a miss. It seems like they put it into a panini press. There was way too hard of a crust on it. The sauce was flavorful and the asparagus was well cooked. The filet wa maybe 3/8th of an inch thick to half inch thick, Almost inedible. I would not get it again. We had beignets and they were warm and delicious. This was a pricy meal for four. 142 bucks plus tip. And there were no alcoholic drinks. Recommend the bowl. We will be back, 100%. We kept seeing this place pop up on Yelp, so when we stumbled across it, it seemed like something we needed to try. We are glad we did. The server was great. Very personable and right there seeing if you needed anything. Really, the entire staff were really nice. The place is very clean and nice furnished. Now to the food. I had an octopus/yuca hash. I love grilled octopus so when it's on the menu, I'm getting it. This was great. The entire dish was delicious. The hash part was so flavorful. The yuca was perfect. Not mushy, not hard. The octopus was a little chewy, but the flavor from the preparation and grilling made it YUMMERs!! My wife had the Mojo pork grilled cheese. She loved it. And she must have. Went here because it said it was rated #1 restaurant in the area. Maybe so but still pretty mediocre. There are 3 vegetarian options so I got the house-made veggie burger. Was just okay. All the sandwiches and burgers are priced like they come with a side but you actually have to pay an additional $5 for one. The yuca fries were small. 5 fries so $1 per. The bean hummus which was just bean dip was fine but nothing amazing. I would probably give the food like 3.5 and if our server wasn't so grumpy and inattentive then maybe could have squeaked a 4 star review but unfortunately that was not the case. read more

A little slice of Key West right here in Melbourne Hemingway's Tavern absolutely knocked it out of the park. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere pulls you in. The place feels like a blend of an old Key West bar and a cozy island tavern, with warm wood, nautical touches, and Hemingway memorabilia everywhere you look. It has that relaxed island vibe where you immediately want to sit back, slow down, and enjoy the experience. The food was outstanding. We started with a couple small bites and everything came out hot and perfectly prepared. The croquetas were fantastic, crispy on the outside with a creamy, savory ham filling. The empanadas were golden and flaky with a rich filling and a great dipping sauce. For the main course I went with the Cuban sandwich, and it was excellent. Perfectly pressed bread with just the right crunch, stacked with pork, ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard. Exactly what you hope for when ordering a Cuban. Then came dessert, which completely stole the show. The sweet plantain bread pudding was incredible. Warm, rich, and topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle. It's one of those desserts where you keep saying "just one more bite" until it's gone. I paired it with a café con leche, which was smooth, bold, and the perfect complement to the sweetness. The service was just as impressive. Friendly, attentive, and relaxed without hovering. Drinks stayed filled, food came out quickly, and the whole meal felt easy and enjoyable. What a great place to eat and have a good time. We were seated quickly inside at a very small two person booth inside. The outside seating had a waitlist, so we opted for the inside. The bar was crowded and very lively. Kaitlyn, our waitress, was not very personable, but she continually checked to see if we needed anything. The food was tasty and was the right portion size. The Guacamole & Plantain Chips were so good. We also had the Chicken Key West Bowl which was great! We will definitely be returning to eat. Had a nice experience here, after a long day. The menu has a nice selection, which made it easy to find something for everyone. Every dish we ordered came out nicely presented. The food itself tasted really good across the board. Fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked the right way. Joke was on me when a boy who may or may not have run track in high school insisted that we follow him to the farthest area of the restaurant with absolutely ZERO consideration of my lagging husband. I'd asked him numerous times to put us elsewhere , he seated us 2 tables away from his original choice, which was the absolute bowels of the place. I could go on, but I just want to mention the automatons blindly following their programming. The summer menu kinda sucked, and it was difficult for us to find a tasty looking choice. Melbourne~Headed home from Ft. Lauderdale and wanted to stop into a well known spot off of I 95. This place popped up and fit the bill! Right off the bat this looked like the absolute best place to hang out. The inside was cozy and they even have their own souvenirs! That told me we were in the right place. Their menu is really extensive and had something for every taste. I definitely need to go back and try more items on their menu. It happened to be Lobster Fest so I ordered a Cuban sandwich with lobster. There was so much lobster!!! My lunch mate had a Key West bowl. Both entrees were huge and delicious! I wasn't too happy with my lobster roll. It was supposed to be cilantro butter lobster and it had no flavor. The toasted bread tasted better than the lobster. The portion was plentiful. My friends enjoyed their veggie melts and keywest bowl but my other friend said the mahi mahi was tasteless. She got jerk seasoning on the side and that fixed that. Hemingway's Tavern is a family favorite and one of our go-to restaurants! Whenever family or friends come to visit, Hemingway's is always on our list of places to take them, and I also frequently meet friends there for lunch. The service is consistently excellent, the Key West-inspired atmosphere and décor are wonderful, and the food is fantastic. There are so many great choices on the menu, but my personal favorite is Ernest's Rib Platter--it's absolutely delicious! And whatever you do, save room for dessert. The Pineapple Upside Down Cake is fabulous! Hemingway's has that wonderful combination of great food, friendly service, and a fun, relaxing atmosphere that keeps us coming back again and again. If you're local to the area, then you definitely know Hemmingway's Tavern. It is always very busy here so be prepared to wait a little bit outside when you walk up to try to get a table. They do have a small café window where you're able to order some food and some alcoholic drinks while you wait, which is always very nice as well as some coffee. Everything on the menu so far has been delicious that I've tried over the years. Located right next to Premier Theatres you can always grab a quick bite before your movie. Staff is friendly, but keep in mind this place is not a quiet place to be inside. So don't come here thinking you're going to have a quiet romantic evening. Went here on a group dinner with some work colleagues on a weeknight. We started with appetizers: Yuca Cheese Bites, Conch Fritters, and Yard Bird on A Stick. The cheese bites were like very expensive cheese sticks - not really worth the money. The Yard Bird was okay, a bit tough but the sauce/seasoning was great. The real star were the Conch Fritters - everyone loved them, and we ordered a few more so everyone could have their fill. I ordered Papa's Cuban, which was on special. It was good, but not great. I hadn't had a decent Cuban in years (can't get a good one in Detroit), and this didn't quite satisfy the itch. The pork was dry, the mustard and Swiss didn't quite rescue it, and the bread was crunchy in an unpleasant kind of way. My colleague who ordered the rib platter got some of the driest, toughest, nastiest looking ribs I've ever seen. The service was nice - lots of attentive staff around to help us out. It's a shame the food wasn't overall up to par, because the decorations and the building and the staff were great. read more

This is the best meal we have had in a long time. We have lived here for years and never heard of Hemingways Tavern, until friends asked us to join them. There were 4 of us and we all enjoyed our experience from first walking in we were greeted immediately and taken to our table. We requested to sit on the patio. As we walked through the restaurant, there is a bakery/ espresso area and small gift area. We ordered the Hibiscus margaritas and they were spot on. From there we ordered the smoked wings and conch fritters both were delicious. Although, we are from Tampa home of the original"Cuban" sandwich we all decided to give theirs a try, and we were not disappointed. There are walls filled with pictures and memories of Hemingway throughout the restaurant. Most of us had the standard Cuban, which seems to be what this place is famous for. They were outstanding! The bread had that crisp crunch while being nice and soft on the inside. The sandwich itself was very good with tons of flavor but I added the pineapple slaw to the sandwich!!!! Absolutely! This took it up a notch h and was phenomenal. I went to Hemmingway's this afternoon and met up with 11 lady friends for lunch. We were seated on the patio. It was a hot afternoon, but we accepted the seating in order to avoid an hour wait. When it came time to order, I had my eyes set on a lobster roll and ordered it. I have had these delicious rolls before, but when my plate was put before me, I was very disappointed, but decided to give it a try. The roll was toasted and lightly filled with a few greens and pieces of what appeared to be overcooked lobster meat. I am used to and expected a lobster salad with lobster meat mixed with a delicious aioli and aromatics. What I received was nothing like that, but a roll with "naked" lobster. I must say that the lobster was ok even though it was cooked beyond reason. Hemmingway's is one of my favorites, but lobster rolls are not on their top menu items. I do not recommend them. Go for a burger or sandwich instead. read more

I normally come during the week & sit at the bar. Service is usually prompt. I went Sunday after a movie & had a different experience. Waitress was friendly. Guac app took a while. I was more than half way done the app & my son was asking about his mac n cheese. We ordered everything at the same time & asked for the app to come out first. Once we finally got our food, there was no yucca. She informed me they would be out shortly. I asked about them once I had a couple spoonfuls of beans & a corner of my fish left. Once I got them they were disappointing. Dried, overcooked & too salty. I sent them back for veggies. The manager came by & apologized. I wanted bread pudding but decided not to order.
