I ordered an iced coffee, nothing special just an iced coffee. The girl working at the counter was busy chatting with her friend who was standing in front of the pick-up counter and blocking it. They never called my drink so I waited because I was confused about the girl standing in front of the counter. I then walked over and the coffee had just been sitting there but they never said anything. The coffee was just plain drip coffee yet the bottom of the cup was filled with coffee grounds? We came here specifically to get iced lattes and grabbed breakfast as well. The place is really cozy and smells like a cinnamon roll! Their kolaches are good but their breakfast tacos are just ok. First of all, they are huge! So think twice before ordering 2. And the tortillas are thick, too large and taste like flour. Not overly impressed. Family and I came to this place while on a vacation for Labor Day weekend. We were so used to our morning coffee at a local Starbucks, but stumbled upon this place off Main Street. The coffee was pretty tasty and the actual shop had a warm feel. There is not that large a selection of snacks, so don't plan on eating breakfast or lunch here. I had a blueberry muffin that was good, but family and I will be going down the road for brunch after this. The only real downside to the place is the service. There were plenty of staff, but they seemed a bit more interested in catching up on gossip from the night before than attending to customers. The wait was about 15min to get our food and it probably could have been about five minutes if he staff was all working together to turn out food and drinks. With that being said, when I got to the front of the line, the people were very nice. Overall, check this place out for a good cup of coffee, but don't be in a hurry. read more

This place was okay, but not outstanding. There were quite a few customers there so my order took awhile, but what irritated me was that they got my very easy order wrong so I sat there longer than I needed to since I didn't realize my order had been completed. A nice young man who made the coffee (didn't catch his name, but he's tall, slim, with short, light brown shaggy hair) helped me out and fixed the order, and remade the drink for me very quickly, apologizing for the mix-up. I would recommend this place if you don't mind waiting a little bit, but honestly if Ranch Road Roasters is open I'd suggest going to him first instead of here. MUCH better coffee. read more

This was a cozy little cafe, it kept true to the Western theme of Fredericksburg with it's wood heavy interior and beautiful murals. The coffee was good, and they had almond milk. So, that was great for me. Their breakfast tacos are build your own. So, you pick what goes in. They are actually really big tacos! They also have pastries and merchandise, but we stuck to coffee and tacos. I saw other complaints on wait or the tacos. What a great place for coffee and relaxation. After shopping Main Street, you can come in here and order your caffeine made to order. If you're in a hurry, they have better than national brand coffee in urns to pour for yourself. I've only had breakfast here, but I can recommend the breakfast burritos. And the pastries are a great pick-me-up. Very helpful young employees, who give great answers to questions as only locals can. My friends & I were staying in Fredericksburg looking for a quick & hearty meal before we headed out to Enchanted Rock to do some hiking & take photographs when we wandered into the Java Ranch Espresso Bar & Cafe. We were immediately taken in by the signs in the window stating you could get "coffee, grub, hooch, & stuff". Hooch? Really? Well OK! The inside is all Texas. There are big leather couches, lots of wooden table & chairs, a plethora of TX memorabilia on the walls, counters & even in the bathroom, funny hand-painted signs (apparently "country cookin' makes you good lookin'!" Who knew?), shotgun shell Christmas lights hanging over the counter (you can buy a pack or 12 for yourself to spruce up your homestead), & the friendliest people behind the counter you could ever meet. Heck, one of the ladies behind the counter even tried to set us up with a cute cowboy in line! Now that's what I call service! I bellied up to the counter & placed my order of a potato, egg, & cheese breakfast taco, paid my $2, got my ticket & waited at the small wooden kitchen island around the corner from the order counter. As my friends & I waited for our orders (which were all made hot & SUPER fresh), we perused the little gift shop area & enjoyed going through cook books on gourmet meals made from Twinkies & 101 things to with yogurt. When the kind gentleman delivered our breakfast tacos to us, (which were quite large) we poured on a dash of the homemade salsa they come with, took one bite & immediately our eyes open extremely wide, we let out the biggest sigh, & made almost obscene yummy noises. Oh my good God in heaven, these were the BEST darned breakfast tacos we have ever eaten in our lives! These things should be called breakfast tacorgasms! The eggs were scrambled perfectly, the potatoes were wonderfully seasoned, & the salsa was the freshest & most flavorful I've had in a LONG time. We hadn't even finished chewing our first bites before my friend was up at the counter telling the staff how incredibly fantastic the food was. They were tickled pink & giggled at our food ecstasy. While I didn't sample the croissants, my 2 friends that did say they were equally as orgasmic as the tacos, & the price of everything couldn't be beat. We left Java Ranch with very full bellies & big smiles on our faces. We wished we were staying a few extra days so we could try out the rest of their goodies & of course, maybe sample a little hooch. If breakfast is an example of their quality & hospitality, I can't imagine being disappointed in anything else. So if you're ever in Fredericksburg, be sure to stop in at Java Ranch. You won't be disappointed. And who knows? You may end up with a date with a cute cowboy! read more

This is why I am giving the Java Ranch only 3 Stars. We heard that it was a place that had great coffee. When we got there at 8 am for breakfast and a cup off coffee They were out of Crescents for a breakfast sandwich, they were out of cinnamon rolls and we just had to settle for a breakfast taco. Teenagers behind the counter were aloof an unfriendly. My chai tasted like a small girl had made it at a tea party where all her stuffed animals held seats of honor. My girlfriend ordered a cappuccino which was 80 percent foam in a medium cup. They were completely out of pastries except for cookies at 12:30 pm. We were underwhelmed to say the least. Cute place. Great stop for coffee but don't go here for sausage and eggs. You will be paying $7-$9 for a literal scoop of eggs with microwaved Kraft cheese and a piece of grocery deli ham. Probably same quality as McDonald's $3 breakfast biscuit which is just down the street. No offense java ranch but keep it to pastries and coffee or bring down your sausage and egg prices to the level of quality you're serving. We felt a little ripped off. read more

I loved this place! My husband and I needed a nice, lighter lunch while we were shopping the main street. Java Ranch was open until 3pm (thank you Java Ranch!), and we were not disappointed. The wraps were perfect, generous in size and ingredients and very tasty. The guy at the counter that took our order was adorable, he was so friendly and polite, it was nice to see. We were so impressed with him that we purposefully came back here the next morning to grab coffee on our way out of town. Great lattes, not cheap, but worth the splurge. I came to this place for a latte and some kind of pastry at 4:45 in the afternoon. I always have a hard time finding a nice pastry and a nice coffee that late in the afternoon. These guys had muffins and strudels along with some other things. I ordered an apple strudel wish I would've ordered a cherry one as well, they were so good. The latte was splendid as well!
