This was a nice spot for brunch.. we sat outside and it made for a nice relaxing morning. Food was really good. My friends were so impressed by the breakfast potatoes, they were delicious.

Sunset grill was a great post-winery hungover breakfast. Food is decent but the vibes are impeccable. We were on the patio and had amazing service despite it being so so busy.

Cute cafe with more of a diner feel inside, but they have a big outdoor patio with plenty of seating. The menu has plenty of options, making it so hard to choose from because everything sounds so good. I got the yogurt and granola bowl, wow it was really fresh and a pretty big portion. My mom ordered the TBLTA and she really liked it, plus the vinaigrette on her salad was so good! Highly recommend giving this place a try.

We kicked off our bachelorette trip with brunch at Sunset Grill, and while it didn't blow us away, it was a solid start to a fun weekend! First, the vibes: the restaurant is cozy and charming -- exactly the kind of spot you'd want for a relaxed girls' brunch. Our waitress was sweet, attentive, and made us feel right at home from the moment we sat down. Now, the food was a bit of a mixed bag. The bacon? Absolutely on point -- crispy, savory, no notes. And the Mexican coffee was a delightful surprise -- rich, flavorful, and the perfect way to ease into the morning. The French toast had a great foundation, but I was hoping for more of a true banana foster experience -- caramelized, charred bananas with a glossy glaze. Instead, the bananas came as-is, which felt like a missed opportunity to really elevate the dish. A little time in the pan would go a long way! The breakfast potatoes were the low point -- they came out a little overcooked and underseasoned, which is an easy fix but made them hard to get excited about. Overall, Sunset Grill has a lot of charm and the service was genuinely warm.

Loved it! It's been a number of years since our last visit. At that time, they were in a different location. This location is SO much better. Lots of seating - indoors and outdoors. Dog friendly outdoors too. The service - wow. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. Our server, Maria A was amazing. We arrived about 9:30 AM on a Monday morning. Being a holiday, Presidents' Day, it was quite busy. I thought we'd have to wait quite a while but surprisingly there were some open tables inside. Being a nice sunny morning a lot of the outdoor seating was pretty full. Our party of four was seated quickly. Water came, followed quickly by coffee. Someone was always making the rounds with the coffee pot. That was nice. My wife and I shared a breakfast as follows: - California omelette with sourdough toast - Single pancake with blueberries I'd say the omelette was decent. Four out of five. It had good flavor. The way they make them here is slightly dry, but still decent. Next time I'll ask for mine to be less dry on the outside. The pancake was really good. Nice and fluffy and flavorful. We're so happy we returned to Sunset Grill for breakfast this year and we look forward to eating there on our next visit to Fredericksburg.

This became our go to brunch spot when we are in Fredricksburg. We were seated immediately because they have a ton of tables, which is a huge plus in this town. We sat on the dog-friendly patio and the service was incredibly quick. The food was 10/10--everything tasted so fresh. I highly recommend the Señorita Omelette (it's loaded with veggies and super flavorful) and the Avocado Toast, which was absolute fire. Don't skip the fresh-squeezed juices! Plus, plenty of parking out front made the whole experience stress-free.

    Sunsetter Eggs Benedict

My wife & I spent 3 days in Fredericksburg for our anniversary & hit up Sunset Grill for brunch one day. I'm a big fan of eggs benedict, so I tried Sunset's "sunsetter benedict" & was not disappointed. The surprise of the dish was the house-made country potatoes that came as a side. They were crisped up just right with the perfect amount of salt & pepper for a simple seasoning. It may be hard to tell from the photos, but the Sunsetter is bigger than most other eggs benedict platters I've had. Many places use English muffins that I'd say are baseball sized, but these were more like softball sized. My wife enjoyed her eggs & bacon platter as well, with 3 strips of thick cut applewood smoked bacon & the same country potatoes. All in all I'd go back to Sunset Grill in a heartbeat on my next visit to Fredericksburg. It's a great food spot with great service IMO!

Such a delicious brunch spot! Very busy but worth the wait. Efficient and very nice server. The menu is well rounded and quality. Casual and bright interior with outside seating. My Josephine was a perfect amount of savory & sweet with a fried egg, ham, biscuit, and the best fig jam! Coffee was dark roast and delicious. There is a nice menu of hot and cold coffee drink options also. A total local gem.

The food was absolutely superb; simple, fresh ingredients executed to perfection. The margarita was excellent. It was well-balanced, smooth, and neither too sweet nor too strong. The service was prompt, polite, and professional, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. We sat outside and it was so nice with the breeze and the shade.

Family ate here before going on our Enchanted Rock adventure. I could have stayed just to try all of their different coffee options alone! The space is smaller than what we are used to, but it's not bad. We appreciated how clean and bright everything was. Next time we will try out the patio seating- it looked so inviting even with the heaters but we sat inside this time.

Come with time to spare because this place is always packed - and that should tell you everything! We initially asked about the wait time and were told 45 minutes. We were starving and considered going somewhere else, but decided to give it a try. We ended up waiting a bit longer than expected, but it was absolutely worth it! The food was delicious - we ordered burgers and they were amazing. Despite how busy and chaotic it was with the crowd, our server was super attentive and friendly throughout our meal. I love that the food was on point and fresh, and the staff remained so pleasant even during the rush. Definitely recommend, just plan ahead for the wait or avoid weekends!

Kailey our waitress was phenomenal such amazing energy. So welcoming and personable. We stopped in town and had to try this place for brunch. I ordered the Bourbon street Benedict 9/10 enjoyed the Louisiana flavors and it had a decent amount of shrimp. Wish there was more hollandaise sauce Friends ordered: Banana pecan pancakes 8.5/10 pancakes were soft but wish they were more fluffy French toast 6/10 it was just French toast nothing special about it Avocado toast 10/10 it was fresh and light and nice balance of ingredients. Drinks: Mangorita so refreshing and nice balance of sweetness The sunset was underwhelming! Strong champagne if youre a champagne person yet the blueberry and pomegranate didnt really shine. I thought by the name it would be a pretty drink. This is a cute place that offers farm to table. Offering both indoor and outdoor seating options with friendly welcoming staff and a good variety of food options. A must try for this quaint town

    Carlsbad

The ratings suggested that this would be a great way to end our weekend in Fredericksburg. The predicted 15 minute wait turned out to only be 10, so off to a good start. The 'bennies' all looked interesting, and we ended up with 2 Josephine and 1 Carlsbad. The orders came out quickly. The eggs were all done well (not "well done"), perfectly runny. One of Josephines was good, although it could have used more brie. The other Josephine was not even hot. Our guess is that because the place is so busy, they queue up some of the popular orders and then they're ready to go. We should have sent it back. The Carlsbad was a unique (to me) take, and the crab cake itself was good. The combination was interesting but didn't become exceptional until I used the lemon that came with my tea to add a little acid to the dish. (I suggested to the server that this would be a great addition to the standard plating.) If we return, we'll be a bit bolder with possible returns.

Egg & Bacon (potatoes & toast included). Just look at those golden yolks.

I was very excited to write this review about the positive experience and I had here. In my images, I showcase a beautiful French omelette. It is so easy for people to get omelettes wrong and overcook them until they are a rubbery mess. But mine was very soft, decadent, and fluffy with a very beautiful balance of all flavors present in the dish. I also appreciated the salad that came with it because I think starting the day off with some fiber is very healthy for the body. In the past, I've had the steak and eggs and it was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. But when I came to visit on this specific day, they were out and happily recommended the omelettes instead. It can get crowded, but I don't agree with the reviews here that say the restaurant gets too loud. Let's be honest. Fredericksburg has a certain type of demographic and at times I feel they are unfairly nitpicky to the local businesses. When the restaurant is crowded, it's lively and full of smiling faces and servers who are eager to serve and make sure that you enjoy your meal. Restaurant was also clean on our visit and the restrooms were well taken care of. I can't wait to come again for breakfast!

When the dish arrived, however, the steak was clearly overcooked and closer to well done than medium-rare. When we raised the concern, the waiter claimed she had told us the meat would come out anywhere from medium-rare to well done due to how it sits in the warmer, and then suggested we must have misunderstood her initial explanation. This contradiction was frustrating and unprofessional, especially as it felt like our concern was being dismissed rather than addressed. Both the waiter and manager insisted the steak was cooked correctly, despite it clearly not being medium-rare. After we sent it back, they replaced it with a filet that was prepared properly. They did remove the original entrée from the bill, but then charged us for the filet at cost. Given the situation, it would have been more appropriate to simply substitute the filet at the original menu price. Unfortunately, my meal was also very underwhelming. The fish lacked flavor and was not enjoyable. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, especially for a special anniversary dinner. I will say -- the hummus plate was delightful. Light and great flavor for an appetizer. The drinks were also very good too.

They were pretty booked up but as it was cold outside they let us switch our reservation from patio to bar seating. We really enjoyed our meal. The waiters were very attentive and happy to talk through the menu with us. Ultimately we decided on a pretzel as our appetizer, with lamb chops as our entree to share and a side of kasespatzle. The pretzel was warm and a nice size and we thoroughly enjoyed the beer cheese. We finished the cheese halfway through the pretzel and the waiters were kind enough to bring us another one. Next for the kasespatzle - which from my understanding is the German version of mac and cheese. It was very tasty and hearty! More filling than I expected. The lamb chops were the crown jewel of the night - rich and succulent and paired so well with the asparagus. The chef was kind enough to make another lamb chop for us as she saw how the meat shrunk while cooking it. The meal was so tasty and a good size for sharing! We were very full by the end. One of us had the schnitzel au gratin, which seemed more to be like a chicken Parmesan. I had the duck schnitzel. I would say they were just both OK. The fried potatoes that came with the au gratin schnitzel were left largely untouched on my companion's plate. There wasn't much flavor to my red cabbage, and my spaetzel seemed to be more like a modern day risotto. Unfortunately, this experience felt less like a restaurant opening and more like a dress rehearsal no one stopped. First problem: location confusion. We went to what turned out to be their second spot--which, crucially, was not called Nurys on the sign. Same ownership, new space, old identity crisis. Walking in felt like entering a building that hadn't yet decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. The lingering aroma? A strange duet of fish, antiseptic, and industrial cleaning agents. Not hunger-inducing. More "urgent care with a fryer." There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted.
