There was a funny smell that hit me when I walked in. They have an extensive menu and it was hard for me to decide. Finally decided on a carne asada taco and rice. The meat was cut very thick and there was a lot of gristle in the serving. The meat was seasoned nicely. The salsa I put on the taco was HOT!! Very spicy. The rice was cold and tasted like it had tequila or some other alcohol in it. I didn't eat any of it. The staff was very nice. My colleague got a plate with a tostada, taquitos, and a taco. I'm not sure why this place doesn't have more stars. I always order the pollo asado, it's great! They have good rice, their beans are flavorful. Their salsas are great as well! The pollo asado is dry as well, but that's how I expect it to be. A lot of Mexican meat is usually cooked on the dryer side. I think it would be much better if it came with some sour cream and/or a little more guacamole and cheese. - Oregon Burrito - 5/5; You get what you expect - a nicely loaded burrito! - Taco Salad - 3/5; Ehhh - This was more of a taco with a dash of lettuce. - Taco Plate - 2/5; Least favorite dish of the evening. I don't recommend this location. They're not 24 hours (at least inside), they prices are higher, and their quality is less. I recommend the Lombard location, which has never let me down. Go next door to Taco Bell if you're in Hillsboro. read more

Had their sausage breakfast burrito... they tell you what all is inside, but I found it to be lack luster and dry. Mostly potatoes, overcooked dry pieces of sausage, limited amounts of cheese, and no pico de gallo which I think would help improve the burrito overall. Ordered on Uber eats since it was the first Mexican food to come up but wish I had read these reviews first. Half the order was wrong. I got no tamales and something I think maybe an enchilada combo instead. My child cried because the whole point of ordering was for tamales and she didn't want the other thing. The burritos were good but very expensive. I had a California and carnitas burrito. They were big enough that I could eat half of one and save half for later. The other kid combo they gave me a bean burrito instead of beef. And a sprite instead of coke. Would not recommend because you don't get what you paid for and you get half the wrong things. Oh Javier's. My first clue things might be awry was how devastatingly empty you were at 6:30 on a Monday night. There was NO ONE in the restaurant as I pulled into the lot. No cars in the lot either. Next door, Taco Bell had a line of cars in their drive through. Uh oh. Undeterred, visions of quesadillas dancing in my head, I pulled into Javier's drive through. A nice woman seemed puzzled by my choices, indeed when I arrived at the window ( after squinting to read the stupid sign in the pouring down rain and the dark with the menu on it, hardly lit up and arranged now in such a way that the pictures are larger than the names of the food, I hate it). Anyway. I digress. I pulled up to the window after ordering at the speaker/sign, and she said "Cinco quesdillas?" and I said " NO!, DOS. Uno de pollo y uno de carnitas." "OHHH okay", she said, and she disappeared. Uh Oh. I waited a while, she came back and took my money, and disappeared again. Eventually a grumpy man came and thrust a big white plastic bag with styrofoam containers in it at me. He did not ask me about salsa they way they usually do, nor did he say thank you or come again, or anything much of anything. We are done with you, was what I felt. Ok. I drove the stuff home. Upon opening, the quesadillas had been only partially cut apart and sort of crammed into their containers. WHO DOES THAT? and there was section of soupy white stuff ( sour cream? maybe in another less watery life, we didn't eat that) and a section of white icebergy lettuce I could do without. No guac. No tomato. Some containers of hot red and green salsa that saved the day, really. My carnitas quesadilla was okay, not cut apart, but the carnitas was pretty good. My daughter did not like her chicken quesadilla at all. The chicken was red with spice or chili powder or salsa or something, and not recognizable as chicken... maybe it was dark meat. It did not taste too chickeney. She did not eat it. She did eat her cold french fries, they were nothing special. Not crinkly as anticipated but she poured ketchup on them and ate them anyway. Ketchup solves the world's problems, or at least hers. I think we will stick with Don Pedro and Don Chilito for drive through Mexican on the cheap in the future, our experiences there have been better. Sour cream looks like sour cream, and the people are way more friendly and the food is presented nicely. This was a bummer visit to Javier's. Their weekend and evening people simply aren't as good as their daytime peopleI don't think they care as much, and I think that has been noted a few times in reviews lately. I hope they get their act together, they can't afford to slack with Taco Bell right next door, and Ochoa's and Don Pedro mere blocks away. If only Ochoa had a drive through. (sigh) read more

They have authentic style Mexican food for a fair price . The breakfast burritos are enormous full of flavor and stuffed to the max . Terrible experience! When pulling into the drivethru we were almost backed into by a customer that was leaving the drive thru line aggressively (we should have followed). They rushed us through the ordering process. After every word we said they rudely asked if we were done ordering yet. We only ordered 3 things. We almost left because of that alone but didn't want to be rude. They read the order back and it was wrong. We corrected them to what we actually ordered. They ended up giving us the wrong thing anyway. We tried to go back around or in the building but couldn't get in at all. When the bag entered our car it smelled like someone had handed us a bag of dog poop. We had to spit out our food immediately it was so inedible. Also there were black flecks in the drink (wrong drink anyway) which means they don't clean the machines. We ended up getting different food 5 minutes later because it was so disgusting. And we eat out a lot and rarely complain about food or an experience. read more

I tried their Carne Asada fries and Carne Asada with Tortilla Chips (basically Carne Asada Nachos). Both were okay. *Internet high-five to Jesse B.* I'd effectively written Muchas Gracias off after falling in love with another certain Mexican restaurant at the other end of Hillsboro, thusly, I didn't even note the transformation of MG into Javier's. Once I *did* take notice, of course I'm going to turn to Yelp, and Jesse's endorsement was enough for me to swing by last week for lunch. *second internet high-five to Jesse* I'm not so much convinced it's a reboot with new owners/operators as it is a "rebranding" with... the same owners/operators? The reason I'm compelled to make this statement is that, upon outward appearances, the menu is EXACTLY the same as MG. Oregon burrito? Yes. Carne Asada fries? Yes. Even the option of 5 rolled tacos (without rice and beans by default) or 3 rolled tacos (WITH rice and beans). Tack on the same exact phone number as before and it's just a bit head scratching. No matter. How does it taste? I'll get to that. Jesse ain't kidding when she says they've spiffed up the joint. I won't label the old MG "run-down", but it could always have stood for some spit-shining. Well, that's been done in spades here at Javier's. It was clean and well organized when I was there. Same Wendy's style gated waiting line type deal, same counter, just... everything was in it's place at Javier's, and seemingly wasn't at MG. They've spiffed up the salsa bar quite a bit, too, and there were nice fresh limes, cilantro and everything you'd expect out there. On this trip I got 5 tacos. Admittedly I'm on a huge (authentic, as best I can approximate) taco kick, and I seemingly can't avoid them. So, yeah, 3 carne asada and 2 pollo asada. The tacos are $1.30 each, which is $0.30 more than the other across town joint I mentioned. How were they? Carne asada: not bad, not as good as the other joint. More meat. Pollo asada: VERY good, again more meat, *better* than the other joint. Interesting! One thing I'd prefer is the cilantro and onions on the side, as they include them right in each of the tacos. Not a huge deal, but I like it that *other joint* includes those on the side so you can doctor your tacos at will. If subsequent trips are like my first, I will be a repeat customer. This joint is just too convenient to skip by, and I'm glad my first experience was a good one. read more

I'm not a big insta-review update but I will do so here. Because... I've fallen in love with their chicken quesadillas. For $5.50 you get a huge quesadilla topped with guacamole & sour cream (like REAL sour cream...so good) and you'll be full until the next day's breakfast. The chicken is delish, well cooked and season and delivered fast. Also let me comment on their condiment bar - red and green salsa, hot sauce, ketchup and all sorts of things I can't even recognize but are oft used. I frequented here because it is really close to my house. One star for being close. Everything on the menu is gross. They usually mess up the order. The tacos are really dry, worst Carne Asda I've ever had, their customer service sucks, and they are super expensive for a drive thru Mexican dive. Tonight we ordered 2 tamales and the nachos. We got one tamale that seemed to have canned sauce on it. Over $20 for nachos with no cheese or toppings and one tamale. No thanks guys After tonight I won't be going back to Javier's. Surprise! This place is actually good! Lol I had been here one time before and got some nachos that I was not really a fan of. I ended up coming here again because I was on my lunch break and being on limited time i didn't want to go somewhere crowded. I didn't know what to order so I ended up getting the two dishes they had on posters in their windows. Two sopes de pollo(chicken) and the steak fries. We also ordered a basket of chips because they don't give you any here, so that dose suck but it was worth it, best chips iv had in a mexican place in a looooong time. The steak fries were amazing, fries were nice and fried lots of steak and cheese and they also added a bit of salsa on top, it was also pretty big portion.The sopes were good too, the actual sope might have needed a bit more frying cuz it was a bit wobbly for me but the chicken was delicious, they seasoned it very well. They have a nice salsa bar with 5 different kind of salsas including a spicy avacado salsa. They also had cucumbers and a lettuce salad...isnt that awsome. I think many people don't go in here because it doesn't look like a good place to go to, from an outside view. From the inside its actually not bad looking at all, place is clean, just looks like an older building. If you live near this place give it a try, well worth it! read more

Chile Verde, yum! Beans are somehow 10 times better than anywhere else, and the rice is nice and moist... no heimlich required. Fish tacos - to die for! They filet and bread the fish to order! So nice and crunchy, not too bready, and not greasy. They also know how to make a good fish taco sauce (just like Rubios). They aren't stingy with their salsas, and there is a good selection so you can always find the right spice level and compliment to what ever you are eating. Go here! Even if you have to drive a bit farther. I am pretty sure it used to be a Wendys cause they have the standard curved windows that every Wendys used to have. read more

Fish tacos. Everyone I know keeps trying to convince me to order them. So I did at Javiers. Yukko!!! Steak for the nachos was reheated on the flat top that they were cooking fish on. Smelled like fish something awful and there was even a fish bone in the steak nachos, disgusting! We used the drive thru and the intercom was impossible to hear through so we were forced to pull up and confirm our order. When we got home we noticed half our order was missing and we had to drive back and show our receipt. They consulted with the cook to validate that we weren't trying to pull a fast one. The chorizo breakfast burritos were massive and tasted ok but nowhere near good. As mentioned before the nachos were horrific and ruined the meal. We've made this our go to fast food Mexican spot. Everything we've had here has been excellent, but we have only tried a few things since they're so good we don't want to change. Bf always gets nachos with ground beef, it's huge and filled with lots of great ingredients. The meat is flavorful and plentiful. I recently tried the chicken quesadilla and it had a ton of meat in it, I was impressed. I've also had the enchiladas with carnitas and chicken and really enjoyed both meats. They had lots of meat and flavor. I like them better than Don Chillito's, where I used to go to for enchiladas. Their green and red salsas are also both really good. We had 4 different kinds of tacos at Javier's and they were all horrific. The meat were old, dried, and smelled like my dead grandmother's old socks. Not even Gorden Ramsey and his top chefs would be able to rescue them. In matter of facts Gorden Ramsey would shut down Javier's Tacos due to the the worst tacos in the history of tacos. I've been in twice now and really liked what I got both times. It's pretty fairly priced and clean, which is a plus. The salsa bar is hit or miss, the first time it sucked the second time it was really full. I was it around lunch on a Friday both times so no idea why it was so different. Javier's has the BEST CHILE VERDE in the area. The Carne Asada Fries are decadent and very filling. I always eat inside the restaurant because of the salsa bar. Lots of choices of salsa and condiments. The staff is always friendly. There is a bit of language barrier but still doable. For what i have tried, the prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of food provided. I'm so glad I came across Javier's Tacos on Postmates! We decided to drive by since we live pretty close and did need some fresh air. The woman working the drive thru was great, the food was even better. The carne asada fries were perfect for my 7 year old who likes them pretty basic: fries, guacamole, cheese and carne asada. The real superstar was the #1, the beef taco plate. I had them add avocado and believe it or not, they were the best fried tacos I've had here in Oregon. The shredded beef was full of flavor! Love this place! I was SOOOO happy as I drove past one day in March and saw them putting up the sign for this place opening. I went about 2 weeks before they had their grand opening-- I was that nosy I had to check it out despite it clearly not being finished... but to my joy! The drive thru was already open. I love Javier's in Nopo and since I just moved here from San Diego I had been making weekly special visits from Beaverton to Nopo for some REAL mexican food. (sorry Oregonians "Taco Time" is a non MF factor!) This Javiers is BETTER than the original Nopo location (that one is ghetto fab), this one is much nicer, clean, the workers are nice & helpful. Food is delish!! Love the beans, love the rice, love the pollo asado, taco salads, chicken tacos, carne asada fries.... ok I like the food in general. haha Prices are awesome for a lot of food. Could turn into a gordito off of $5 or less! This location is closed 10p-6a unlike the Nopo spot thats 24hrs, but then again Hillsboro is dead after 8 anyways. For true taco enthusiasts its comical that this Javiers is directly across the parking lot from a Taco Bell where you pay $8 for a combo half the size full of doritos and fritos. o_O No thanks!
