    Carne Asada Fries
    Michelle C.

Javier's Tacos is good if you're looking for a quick, late meal as they're open until 10pm on the weekdays. We tried the: - Carne Asada Fries - We gave this a 3/5 and thought the fries were alright. I think it would be much better if it came with some sour cream and/or a little more guacamole and cheese. - Oregon Burrito - 5/5; You get what you expect - a nicely loaded burrito! - Taco Salad - 3/5; Ehhh - This was more of a taco with a dash of lettuce. - Taco Plate - 2/5; Least favorite dish of the evening. The tacos were so soggy that the tortilla ripped apart when you tried to hold them. I would probably pass on these next time! Overall, it's what you'd expect from a drive through experience. The staff was friendly though, and you can place a take-out order over the phone as well.

Javiers burritos and a mystery plate?

Ordered on Uber eats since it was the first Mexican food to come up but wish I had read these reviews first. Half the order was wrong. I got no tamales and something I think maybe an enchilada combo instead. My child cried because the whole point of ordering was for tamales and she didn't want the other thing. The burritos were good but very expensive. I had a California and carnitas burrito. They were big enough that I could eat half of one and save half for later. The other kid combo they gave me a bean burrito instead of beef. And a sprite instead of coke. Would not recommend because you don't get what you paid for and you get half the wrong things. I should have just ordered from the taco place I KNEW tasted good and half the price. That's what I get for trying something new.

    Bacon breakfast burrito. $4.55.

Oh Javier's. My first clue things might be awry was how devastatingly empty you were at 6:30 on a Monday night. There was NO ONE in the restaurant as I pulled into the lot. No cars in the lot either. Next door, Taco Bell had a line of cars in their drive through. Uh oh. Undeterred, visions of quesadillas dancing in my head, I pulled into Javier's drive through. A nice woman seemed puzzled by my choices, indeed when I arrived at the window ( after squinting to read the stupid sign in the pouring down rain and the dark with the menu on it, hardly lit up and arranged now in such a way that the pictures are larger than the names of the food, I hate it). Anyway. I digress. I pulled up to the window after ordering at the speaker/sign, and she said "Cinco quesdillas?" and I said " NO!, DOS. Uno de pollo y uno de carnitas." "OHHH okay", she said, and she disappeared. Uh Oh. I waited a while, she came back and took my money, and disappeared again. Eventually a grumpy man came and thrust a big white plastic bag with styrofoam containers in it at me. He did not ask me about salsa they way they usually do, nor did he say thank you or come again, or anything much of anything. We are done with you, was what I felt. Ok. I drove the stuff home. Upon opening, the quesadillas had been only partially cut apart and sort of crammed into their containers. WHO DOES THAT? and there was section of soupy white stuff ( sour cream? maybe in another less watery life, we didn't eat that) and a section of white icebergy lettuce I could do without. No guac. No tomato. Some containers of hot red and green salsa that saved the day, really. My carnitas quesadilla was okay, not cut apart, but the carnitas was pretty good. My daughter did not like her chicken quesadilla at all. The chicken was red with spice or chili powder or salsa or something, and not recognizable as chicken... maybe it was dark meat. It did not taste too chickeney. She did not eat it. She did eat her cold french fries, they were nothing special. Not crinkly as anticipated but she poured ketchup on them and ate them anyway. Ketchup solves the world's problems, or at least hers. I think we will stick with Don Pedro and Don Chilito for drive through Mexican on the cheap in the future, our experiences there have been better. Sour cream looks like sour cream, and the people are way more friendly and the food is presented nicely. This was a bummer visit to Javier's. Their weekend and evening people simply aren't as good as their daytime peopleI don't think they care as much, and I think that has been noted a few times in reviews lately. I hope they get their act together, they can't afford to slack with Taco Bell right next door, and Ochoa's and Don Pedro mere blocks away. If only Ochoa had a drive through. (sigh)

Took my wife there for lunch . She was amazed how crunchy and tasty the food was. This is the west side location they have 2 in Ne Portland and they are just as amazing . They have authentic style Mexican food for a fair price . The breakfast burritos are enormous full of flavor and stuffed to the max . So I give them a 5 star awesome little restaurant and authentic food just right for the gut ... Check them out ..

Average Mexican fast food. I got their California Burrito. It was decent. The tortilla was the best part. I tried their Carne Asada fries and Carne Asada with Tortilla Chips (basically Carne Asada Nachos). Both were okay. If you're looking for semi-quick Mexican fast food then this is a good option.

    Yep, it's an old Wendy's

*Internet high-five to Jesse B.* I'd effectively written Muchas Gracias off after falling in love with another certain Mexican restaurant at the other end of Hillsboro, thusly, I didn't even note the transformation of MG into Javier's. Once I *did* take notice, of course I'm going to turn to Yelp, and Jesse's endorsement was enough for me to swing by last week for lunch. *second internet high-five to Jesse* I'm not so much convinced it's a reboot with new owners/operators as it is a "rebranding" with... the same owners/operators? The reason I'm compelled to make this statement is that, upon outward appearances, the menu is EXACTLY the same as MG. Oregon burrito? Yes. Carne Asada fries? Yes. Even the option of 5 rolled tacos (without rice and beans by default) or 3 rolled tacos (WITH rice and beans). Tack on the same exact phone number as before and it's just a bit head scratching. No matter. How does it taste? I'll get to that. Jesse ain't kidding when she says they've spiffed up the joint. I won't label the old MG "run-down", but it could always have stood for some spit-shining. Well, that's been done in spades here at Javier's. It was clean and well organized when I was there. Same Wendy's style gated waiting line type deal, same counter, just... everything was in it's place at Javier's, and seemingly wasn't at MG. They've spiffed up the salsa bar quite a bit, too, and there were nice fresh limes, cilantro and everything you'd expect out there. On this trip I got 5 tacos. Admittedly I'm on a huge (authentic, as best I can approximate) taco kick, and I seemingly can't avoid them. So, yeah, 3 carne asada and 2 pollo asada. The tacos are $1.30 each, which is $0.30 more than the other across town joint I mentioned. How were they? Carne asada: not bad, not as good as the other joint. More meat. Pollo asada: VERY good, again more meat, *better* than the other joint. Interesting! One thing I'd prefer is the cilantro and onions on the side, as they include them right in each of the tacos. Not a huge deal, but I like it that *other joint* includes those on the side so you can doctor your tacos at will. If subsequent trips are like my first, I will be a repeat customer. This joint is just too convenient to skip by, and I'm glad my first experience was a good one.

They never disappoint. Very authentic Mexican, ample portions at fair prices. This restaurant is more informal than most and is more of a fast food place. Totally fine with me. You order at the counter, get your own chips and salsa and they bring the food to you. They do a brisk business but if you have limited time for lunch this place is perfect. They will get you in and out fast.

And I've had my fair share of bad ones in the area. Not as great a folks advertise it to be. However when I first stepped foot on Ochoas' greasy floors, I knew this place would be exceptionally legit! Here's what I've tried and here's what I dig about Ochoas: ~ Their variety of Combos (about $12-14). I've done their tacos enchiladas, and chicken fajitas type of combos and man they've been belly filling silly! So stuffed, so good! SO worth it! I would reduce a star due to tortillas being sold separately, but I didn't mind not having tortilla. ~ Two recommended plates, the Tacos Dorados ($14) and the Enchiladas Suisa ($16) man'o'man are these plates are dope! I usually get them filled with chorizo, but I say get them with campechano (asada and chorizo). Super flavorful! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Their lengua and pastor are also tasty! ~ My favorites are actually their breakfast burritos. Chorizo is chorizo, but their Combo breakfast burrito ($9.50) is filled with sausage, ham, cheese, and stuffed with eggs they're not shiesty about adding. Can't go wrong with their breakfast burritos! ~ I'll be honest here, I wasn't really a fan of their tamales. They look good, but I've had better. Not enough to reduce a star either. ~ Legit "Salsa Bar" that usually has six different types. Loved a lot of them too! But really it depends on what salsa goes with what. ~ Another bonus, they've got a catering booth at the Orenco Station Farmer's Market! As far as dining-in, it's nothing fancy. Clean enough to eat there even though I mentioned the floor condition earlier lol. Had to tell them to kick on the heater when it was cold too. Regarding service, I've have to turn up my broken Spanish, but for the most part they've been patient enough to take my order with ease. No issues with service. Again it confirms the legitimacy. That's all I've got to say, and to me they're "one of the best for Mexican food in Hillsboro". I don't care about the negative reviews and what others may think. I say, if you're hesitant like I was, give them a try them and compare for yourself. If you've got a place that's better, let me know.

I am just not sure how to rate Casa Lola…read more.. My wife called at 10 to ask if they were open yesterday, (Sunday) as they were scheduled to serve brunch. She was told they open at noon?? Yet their website states the following: Sunday: 10:00 AM-9:00 PM I do see they have 4 stars overall. I gave it 5 stars a year and a half ago. It definitely doesn't warrant 5 stars. The scheduled hours in the front window area is missing half of the numbers. The threshold is filthy. The knife in my roll-up had something crusted on it. And we were told very nicely, by our server Johana, that she hoped the Chef would come back, as he had left earlier. Whew...he came in after we were there about 10 minutes. We arrived at 4:00. And the last irritant...the music sound level. I wanted to ask Johana to turn it down, but just put it off. We were told at 10:00 Casa Lola becomes a night club...fine, but at 4:00 on a Sunday. Johana was terrific and the food was good. My Al Pastor Tacos were okay. Not great, but not bad. Black beans and rice accompanied all of the dishes and they also were good...not great. My wife, being a vegetarian, had the Enchilada's stuffed with carrots and potatoes. She loved the sauce, even though it had queso fresco on top, as she had requested none be served. Again, Service 5 stars, Food 4 stars, Misc. 0 stars It will be interesting to see if the restaurant is open one year from now.
