I was really taken aback when I got there, and it was $24 bucks for an asada burrito. I went back to the hotel room and took a bite, and there really wasn't any flavor. I got two different salsas that came with it, and it was needed. I was very hungry, so I woofed it down, but again it was flavorless and probably $10 more than it should have been. We used to go to Juan Colorado (Hillsboro), but the servers act like they hate their jobs and are bothered by having to serve you. And, no more refills on soda at JC's! At Pepper's, the prices are a little high but the servers are welcoming and friendly! They offer refills on soda and their salsa is the bomb, especially if you mix the hot & mild! It's really hard to find good ground beef in mexican food, and Pepper's beats all others, hands down. It's not greasy, mushy, or loaded with mexican oregano. Their enchilada sauce could be a little less bitter, and the rice & beans could use a little more flavor but, we'll keep going for the service. read more

I've been craving their flautas for months! Fantastic options, good prices, and great service! The staff were very friendly and accommodating for a dog on their lovely outdoor patio. I don't know where to start. Everything was amazing! They started us with chips and salsa which was fresh. Our meals were delicious and you can tell it's made from scratch. The only thing that wasn't was the tortillas I believe. My partner loved his margarita, perfect ratio. Ambiance was excellent. The service here is exceptional. Yum yum yum. their tacos were great. We got lengua and cabeza. The nachos were our least favorite but that's because we got our food to go so by the time we got home, they didn't taste good. We decided over a year ago to give Peppers a try. It's become our 'go to', especially in warm weather, where we really enjoy their outdoor patio. A bit of street noise if it's afternoon commuter time, but far from drowning out normal conversations. The food is definitely better than the other local establishment. But what REALLY makes it even more enjoyable is how well they treat customers. Daniel makes wicked good margaritas and martinis and between him and Shay, they make it extra special with how genuinely friendly and engaging they are. We always try and support local restaurants, but in the Hillsboro area there are a few Mexican restaurant options. The service was great! The price per plate was not justified in my opinion. The dinner was small on protein shrimp and heavy servings of rice and beans. Flavor and freshness was just Ok. Considering all the other Mexican food options in the area it's doubtful we'd return. read more

Pepper's has really decent food. They do some things very well and some things that are just okay. The bar is not amazing. Bottled beer is the only option for beers and unbelievably overpriced. They have a wide variety of other drinks but be prepared to pay. If I want a beer with my dinner I choose a different place to eat. Service is not consistent. Sometimes it's over the top and sometimes it's just not so great. Ambience is fine. Overall it's a solid place to go. read more

I had read recently in a Hillsboro website article that answers to where to find the best margarita in Hillsboro consistently stated that Pepper's was the overwhelming choice. So of course we had to try it. And the masses were correct...incredible, perfectly balanced, and so flavorful. We have now gone to Pepper's twice in the last three weeks and the food and service continues to excel. An example is the preparation of the enchilada's. Many simply smother the enchilada's with sauce and cheese. At Pepper's, both are there, but they are used sparingly so you can actually taste the enchilada. The vegetarian options are plentiful as well, so my wife has many choices. The service continues to be on another level as well. Last night our server came out to the parking lot to assist me on the best place to park. How many restaurants/servers will do that?? The servers continue to provide more chips and salsa when needed. They hand clear when necessary. They are also very engaging and friendly. Pepper's has definitely become our go to restaurant for quality Mexican food and service. read more

Fabulous service. I thought the prices are high for lunch (look at menu photo), but the portions for the price are large. I had leftovers for dinner. The food was fresh, delivered to order and delicious. Chips and salsa are free and again, delicious. Beautiful murals on the wall and the music was at a perfect level for visiting. Our group enjoyed the outdoor patio with shade for the shade lovers and sun for the sun lovers. The staff are super friendly and helpful. We ordered a couple of the burritos including the breakfast burrito, which is full of meat, for meat lovers. I enjoyed their nachos, replacing meat with shrimp. Some of the best Mexican food around! Everything is delicious from the chips and salsa to the entrees and margaritas. I've been here multiple times and they never disappoint. Portions are huge so be prepared for sharing or leftovers. Some of my favorite items: pollo ala crema, enchiladas, flautas, chimichanga. QUALITY QUALITY QUALITY. I was in the area and wanted some Mexican food. There were not many people on a weekday during lunch hour, so service was quick. I ordered their fish taco and a shrimp taco (don't ask why I had ordered two of the same dish). At first, I was disappointed by their portion size. It was smaller than other places that I have gone to, and was certainly expecting more than just one taco for their lunch price. However, on a closer examination, it was really good. The rice had flavor and was not dry. The black beans was garnished with diced onion and tomato, adding a subtle flavor to the overall beans. The chef did not shy away from the seafood. He added a thick slice of fish for the fish taco, and added just enough shrimp. The chipotle sauce mixed with the lime once you squeezed it onto the taco unified the overall taste. The avocado was sliced very thick as well. Price is good. Staff is attentive. It is a short walk from the public library and the swimming pool. There is outdoor seating as well. read more

First visit was quite a bit better than the second. Small private parking lot. Plenty of tables. Staff was inattentive. I came during happy hour but not many people were in the venue. Took a while to get the waiter's attention. Also, the waiter was in such a rush to drop off my food that part of the quesadilla slid off the plate onto the table. Waiter saw this happen and said "Oh" but then left without trying to rectify what just happened. Bar is small but has a large selection. So glad we had a chance to eat some authentic Mexican food while visiting family in Oregon. Awesome service and really quaint dining environment. They offer such an expansive menu that made it difficult to decide what I wanted to try, but I'm so glad I went with my favorite. Their rice was flavorful, the enchiladas were delicious and their guacamole sauce was perfection. I like that they had both a traditional kids menu and the addition of chicken strips & fries for the pickier eaters. This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in town. The servers are so attentive and the food is served in huge portions. And dont get me started on the margaritas! For the first time we tried something new on the menu just to be brave. I ordered a hidalgo combo and my husband ordered the tampico combo. We wanted to get stuff we hadn't had before. They always deliver homemade tortilla chips and salsa almost as soon as you walk through the door. The homemade salsa is my favorite. But my hubby has to order the hot stuff. We also order guacamole which is fresh and just the way we all want it...with loads of avocado flavor and chunks of avocado. And please. A margarita. Dinner was actually served pretty quickly. My chicken enchilada was moist and flavorful, but the flautas was really dry with too much breading. The tamale filling was good but the corn matzah was awfully thick...more like corn bread. I do love their rice and beans though. Yummy! My husband's combo came with chili relleno, two tacos, a spicy pisco de gallo and rice and beans. He said the tacos were awesome, but didnt really care for the chili relleno. It was a little too mild for his taste. I had some margaritas and the botto.less tea is fresh and never ending. All in all this is still our favorite place. The parking is a challenge, but it is so worth it. The service is consistently excellent, and the food no matter what we get is usually great.
