Gotta say that I was a little hesitant. I came in in the morning, looking for some quick sustenance before hiking in Sequoia, but found that the taqueria side is closed while the donut side is open. Yes, it's the same place, just divided into a donut and Mexican side. Pretty weird and I almost left there. But they still have a bunch of non-donut breakfast options available, including a burrito. Maybe I was just hungry, but this was honestly one of the better burritos I've had in a while. Really large with big chunks of bacon. Excellent salsa. Good tortilla. What I didn't think about was the fact that breakfast burritos often don't agree with my GI tract, and that eating one before hiking was probably not the best idea. But no problems, and I didn't get hungry until about 2pm. Maybe the rest of the menu is garbage, but I would still recommend it for a burrito. read more

My last visit ever to Javi's was last Tuesday. I love their Taco Tuesday special and have been a regular customer most Tuesday afternoons for over two years. But I live out of town and with lockdown had not been in for a couple of months. I was dying for a carne asada taco. Food was still ok, but I was shocked to see that none of the servers or kitchen staff were wearing masks or gloves. No visible precautions at all. The red salsa was spicy and well made! That we did enjoy. Or favorite had to be the chile verde fries, the meat alone had a very good flavor. The presentation lacked... it was just covered with lettuce, cheese and a couple sliced tomatoes. Overall I wouldn't recommend a trip out here. I called to place an order for pick-up. The lady that took my order was super nice and my food was ready within 15 minutes. The food is always good here, I've never had a problem. Some of my favorites from here are their chili verde burrito, carne Asada fries, and tequitos! Definitely worth trying. You can even had food from Javi's delivered via Grubhub. read more

Food is good, not amazing. Prices are VERY good. Customer service was very poor. We weren't greeted when coming in, nor when we left. The woman working the register didn't make eye contact when we talked, and never initiated interaction. So I had to go up and sort of grab their attention from the back while they were chatting any time I wanted something. No "thank you" when our orders were placed. Also, it says they open at 7am. But when I arrived around 7:15, nothing was ready. There were 4 pastries cooked, but that's it. One would assume a 7am open means you could actually buy stuff at 7am. Overall, would have been a very very solid 4 or 5 stars because the food and prices, but the service and experience was pretty disappointing. Javi's by Target is our go to for all things Mexican food. It is close by, always great food and more than enough. The Chile Verde is awesome in burritos, tacos, and Taco Salad Bowl. Carne Asada burritos, tacos, and Asada fries are great! (my hubby's favorite) Also the best Chile Rellenos in town. (my favorite) I recently tried a Chicken Taco Bowl, it was excellent. The Tamales are authentic and always yummy. Scopes are great too, even the chips are great, the guacamole or added avocado is yummy, salsa bar awesome. We eat here at least once a week. Went for lunch today, ordered the kids mini nachos. Asked what comes on them as I have a picky eater who won't touch certain things with a ten foot pole. She told me the toppings and I asked for no tomatoes. They come out and are covered in sour cream and some kind of chipotle mayo. Kid won't eat it, can't even pick around it. Ask them to remake it because they never told us any sauce came on the nachos and the woman refused saying she told us and directed us to the menu (which doesn't say what comes on kid nachos hence why I asked to begin with). Poor customer service to say the least.. won't be coming back. I recently visited a taco place out of town, and they had cheese shelled tacos and burritos on their menu. Great for those on a low carb diet or ketogenic diet. I decided to stop by Javi's today and I requested for a cheese shelled taco. Lady looked at me kind of funny, so I showed her a picture. She said she's never made it before and was afraid to try it, but she will try and make it for me anyways. She fulfilled my request thank you to the lady cook at Javi's downtown! We came in on an early Sunday afternoon & there were a few customers, but once we were seated they had already left & we had the place to ourselves. It's a tiny shop (the bakery side was closed) but they have room for 2 large tv's (playing football much to my husband's pleasure). There's a counter with seating & i think only 2 or 3 high tables & that's it. Fountain drinks are available as well as beer (they even had some on tap) & bottled soda. There's a large sign in the window advertising 99 cent tacos (I just remember Wed & Sun being the days this deal takes place. I know there was a 3rd day but I can't recall). My husband has eaten here before & suggested it since I was borderline hangry & he was too impatient for me to yelp a sit down restaurant :) My husband is my secret weapon to these kind of taqueria places. I don't speak spanish very well & he's fluent.. The woman working the counter was ok, but she wasn't what I would call perky by any means. It was more of a strained politeness, give me your order already kind of attitude. When he started speaking in spanish, she was a bit more receptive. I'm not sure if it was because maybe she was more comfortable speaking spanish vs english or what. This doesnt really affect my rating, just noted. We ordered different kinds of tacos, and they were all ok. The salsa bar had all the usual condiments, but there was sign of only allowing 4 tiny containers per customer. whaaat? I'm a girl that loads up on salsa & radishes! We ordered fish tacos which are not 99 cents but she let us know that up front. Those were meh; I wouldnt order them again. Visited the shack this morning, got 2 chorizo burritos, 3 tamales, and a donut. Please do not go here! There's better options other than this place. It's gone down hill since it changed to Javi's. The tamales were HARD! The whole outer side of the tamale you couldn't eat. As for the donut, the dough was BAD! It tasted like it was expired and they coated it with lots of sugar to try to disguise the taste. The initial taste isn't bad cause it's all the sugar but once you start chewing the dough, we had to spit it out cause of how strong/bad the taste was. Def will not be returning. read more

I wish I would have read some of the reviews before coming in to eat lunch here today. The lady at the counter was extremely rude and generally seemed bothered by our presence. I made a last minute change to my order and she was not happy. I noticed the kids menu said it came with rice and beans or fries and she had not asked us which we wanted. When I asked her about it she said the mini nachos do not, although their menu does not state that. It also says free mini donut, which we of course didn't get and I didn't bother to ask. The food was not very good either so it's definitely not worth putting up with bad service for. We will not be back, it's hard to enjoy your feed when you receive such Terrible service. read more

I wish I could've brought this place back to Vegas with me. The food was excellent. One of the first taco restaurants I have gone to where they actually season the food. The breakfast burritos are so amazingly delicious! You have NOT lived until you've had one of these!! HUGE burrito stuffed with bacon, egg, potato, beans and cheese. Absolute heaven in a tortilla! Grab one as early as 7 (maybe earlier, i think) and they serve them until 2 or 3! I've taken some to work and most of us eat half for breakfast and the other half for lunch! This place used to be really good. Most of the focus is on the new restaurant now. I've gone back twice to see if it was just an off day but no. I ordered Shrimp Cocktail and literally saw the woman come from the back and just grabbed spoonfuls of the pico de Gallo out of the salsa bar in the front and put it into a cup and used that as my Shrimp Cocktail base.
