You want pancakes? Biscuits? Hash Browns crispy? Omelette? Dimples Diner does all of these perfectly. The menu is classic diner and the prices are good. Their coffee is a little too "diner" style for me. If you can't stomach bad coffee, then get an OJ. The walls are full of amusing vintage posters and photos. There are other vintage pieces around like gas pumps and toys. The exterior looks like a classic East coast rail car diner. They have a wraparound neon sign on the facade but I heard it doesn't work? All the seating is red vinyl booths and counter seating. Their mascot is a riff on Betty Boop, hance the name "Dimples" There's plenty of parking in their lot but sometimes it's so busy that the lot is full!? This is also a hub of the community where many of the guests are regulars who chat with the owner and other members of the staff. This place was recommended to us by our tow truck driver from West Coast Towing. He has lived in Visalia all his adult life. Good morning Visalia. So I read the reviews on this little gem and I'm a big fan of chicken fried steak but not all places make a good a one. Now this place got it right!! Crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. The gravy was tasty and the hash browns were crispy on the outside and well cooked but not dry on the inside. Our server was super friendly with a beautiful smile and very efficient. This is a really small restaurant and you might even get lucky and get a front row seat to watch the cooks do their magic. Unfortunately, the reviews were deceiving. The waitresses were nice and it has a welcoming aesthetic like a vintage diner but the food was just not it for me. The waffle had to be one of the worst waffles I had in my life. It was dense, thick, dry, and rough. The butter seemed to be generic vegetable oil spread, not real cream butter. The fries were shoe string freezer, dry and cold. I wanted to send the plate back but I felt bad because the girls were nice. The only pro was the burger. I asked for it medium rare and it came back well done but it was the best part of my brunch. Sadly, I won't be coming back here again. After getting my butt kicked at work that night, I was in desperate need of sustenance in the morning. Wanting to try a different breakfast place I decided to give Dimples a try. It's an old school diner, with stuff from the 40's to 60's on the wall, with "old school" music playing overhead. You have to give it up to the people working here. There was over 10 groups of people here, and only 1 waitress and 1 cook. But they were getting it orders out and people through. It was a great example of efficiency. Waitress was great. Systematic, but friendly, made sure my coffee was never empty. Getting diners in and out quickly, but not at the cost of customer service which is always great I ordered their ultimate breakfast, which was some sort of sandwhich and I had it with some country potatoes. Food was ok. I really enjoyed the bread from the sandwhich. It was well toasted, crunchy, soaked up most of the juices. Everything else was so so. Potatoes had no flavor. Added a lot of salt and ketchup and hot sauce. They were cut thick, so some was soft, others were aldente/raw. Actual sandwhich was so so. No bold flavors. Again had to add lots of salt and ketchup and hot sauce. It was messy with juices and egg yolk dripping down. Wish it translated to great taste but it didn't. Overall it gets the job done. This is a really cute local diner. Make sure to put your name down at the register and pay attention to how quickly the parties ahead of you are moving. There is no microphone system in place to call party names and if you are not in the waiting area you will miss your turn! Our waitress was sweet and provided great service. Packed with bacon, sausage, hash browns (I recommend ordering them crispy), and medium egg, cheese, and delicious house sauce. I think the bread was sourdough. Honestly soooooo good if you've worked up the appetite. It also comes with a side of hash browns, breakfast potatoes, or fruit. We did order a side of french fries, I would opt for the hash browns or breakfast potatoes instead! The waffle was a nice touch to our savory meal. Lots of cool old-school memorabilia at the diner, including Betty Boop, I Love Lucy, and Marylin Monroe. The best part is watching the cooks right there in action on the grill.
