We found this diner while searching for brunch spots during our stay in town for our Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park trip. They do not disappoint! It was busy during the lunch hour on a Sunday, so we got our name down on the clipboard waitlist. It was about a 20-30 min wait for a party of 6, with 6-7 smaller parties ahead of us. The food was good, and portions are very generous! I enjoyed the chicken fried steak over hash browns with eggs. Expect to take leftovers back if you're a small eater. Service was friendly and welcoming. What can improve: interior temp/AC - felt a bit hot/stuffy and couldn't tell if the AC was on inside, though it was better than the 100 degrees outside. You wouldn't expect to find an eatery if you didn't look this place up. Wonderful staff and dining area with indoor/ outdoor seating. The indoor seating place is well placed and doesn't feel too crowded. Being from out of town, been fortunate to have their breakfast and lunch. Breakfast: had the chicken fried steak, egg and hashbrown. Big portion enough to take some home. The breakfast was good but nothing flavorful to brag about but what you would expect for a good chicken fried steak. Cooked perfect. Lunch: had the fried burger and regular fries. The burger was a good size, seasoned well and cooked (medium) as requested. The fries were plain and i would recommend the curly fries. I also had the sampler plate. Onion rings: cut and cooked good. Fried pickles: tasted as they should. Cheese curds: batter well but needed and little longer to cook. The cheese had that laffy taffy stretch. Chicken wings: buffalo. The flavor and cook was tasteful but just too small. About the size of a fun size snicker. Overall: the service and food is still great. I recommend this place for sure. Mama Kay's is a favorite in our family. Some classic diner food, with fast and friendly service. We've visited Mama Kay's a number of times over the years. It's always packed, which is a good indicator of how good the food and the service are. I love their chicken fried steak and eggs. It's delicious! Mama K's is nestled back off the road, so it can be a little difficult to find if you don't know exactly where it is. I felt like Ron Swanson when I came here the other morning! I asked for bacon and eggs, and I got the best bacon and eggs I've had in quite a while. My dad and I came down for breakfast and they were pretty busy from ranchers at the cattle auction as well as regular patrons like us. Ambiance was nice inside, you walk towards an outdoor patio but inside they have a nice little counter with all kinds of homemade pastries. Mind you, waiting area is small, so if you got a big party, some of you might need to wait outside til you're called. Lucky for us, within 2 min of walking in we got sat by a waitress and got our drink order in and menus. Super fast and friendly. Pricing is decent for a breakfast spot. My breakfast was around $17 and I got scrambled eggs, (4) yes! (4) strips of bacon, hash browns and my choice of toast, biscuit(s), or hot cakes. Went for the biscuit(s) cause my dad said they were the best and he wasn't wrong! You get your choice of homemade jam with them and the option to also butter them. I opted for boysenberry jam and my goodness! Best jam ever! I was only expecting two pieces of bacon and maybe one small biscuit, nope! I got 4 thick pieces of bacon and (2) HUGE homemade biscuits. Dad got the corned beef hash, usually my "go-to" at all breakfast spots, but glad he went for it cause he told me it isn't like usual spots that serve it. He wasn't really a fan, said it tasted more "sweet" than usual corned beef and hash so I'm glad I stuck with the bacon and eggs. Service was very attentive at first, slowed down a little bit do to the fact that it was a pretty busy morning so it's understandable, but when the ladies were helping us they were super attentive and very friendly. Noticed when you're ready to pay you go up to the counter. My dad said last time he came in they took the check from the table, but that morning I saw different, so I suggested he just take the check up and cash out that way. Overall amazing place! Glad to have finally came down here after so many years! Really wanna come back asap, hopefully the "to-go" service will serve up just as much portions as we got inside cause I'm not really one to sit inside places right now, prefer to eat at home and enjoy a nice show with my breakfast. When I drove into the dirt parking lot with a tractor crossing it, I had my doubts. I was taken by surprise. This is a great hole in the wall with good food and friendly service. The portions were generous! We went for breakfast, and they had classic breakfast items and more. I had a classic American breakfast with eggs, toast, hash browns and sausage. Eggs were perfectly cooked, the hash browns were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. My partner had the Monte Crisco breakfast sandwich, and he said that it was excellent. Our go to breakfast spot in Visalia. A cute little country spot. It is literally on a livestock auction yard, you can't get more country than that. We love when there is cattle present because we can sneak a peek at them on our way into the restaurant. The service is great and the food is always delicious. The portions are big so you will have leftovers to snack on later. This is a popular breakfast spot so you may have to wait for while to get seated unless you go before the breakfast rush or after. Tucked into the stockyard sale building, Mama K's Diner at 733 Ben Maddox way, is a bit hard to find. But persevere - it is well worth it. Nicely apportioned with well kept & clean walls, floors, and tables/booths, made our visit comfortable. We were greeted by a staff of welcoming and helping servers. Upon seating, all of our questions were fully answered happily. Our breakfasts were delicious. I think the country potatoes stole the show, but everything else was tops as well. Next time we may do lunch. They have quite a burger list that I'd like to get into. The cattle sale is every Wednesday, so, being aggies at heart, we may go then and enjoy the cattle auction. There is a beautiful bakery case that greets you upon entry with affordable prices. Save room to take a couple home. The food was very good. The only complaint I have is the pancake I got was not cooked it was doughy in the middle. I let the waitress know & she had them make me a new pancake. The restaurant is a little hidden, it's toward the back of a dirt road. However, I would give this place another chance. Met a friend here this week for breakfast. I never even knew it was here. I drove past it a few times. All I kept seeing was a cattle lot. I totally missed the sign because I kept looking for something that resembles a restaurant. Then I realized it was actually on the property of the cattle lot. The parking is just a gravel lot. The restaurant looks pretty nice as you walk up. It looks as though there's patio seating. As you would expect the inside has that western feel. Warm clean and busy with people enjoying their food and each other. I really didn't look over the menu too much as I was too busy visiting with my friend. But they look like they have some nice food selections. I ordered the Linguisa and eggs with hashbrowns and coffee. The food didn't take too long and tasted great. If you haven't been here I strongly suggest you check it out. I know next time I am in the area I will come back. read more

This location is pretty well hidden. It was busy from the time we arrived to our or names on the list. We waited about 15 minutes and we were seated. The eating area is well sized with plenty of seating. It wasn't too noisy and the waitresses were very helpful. They had some amazing choices on the menu. Typical Breakfast food, there was a bunch of burger options and then some other diner style staples. Prices weren't too bad and once the order was placed, the food came out FAST, hot and fresh! A friend of mine invited me here for breakfast the other day. I had never been here or even heard of it before, but I'm not from here, so I'm sure that's why. This is a cute little diner in the middle of nowhere Visalia, that looks like it's part of a stockyard or dairy. It has a great little outdoor patio and about 15-20 tables max inside. The food and service are superb. And this place gets packed even in the middle of the week for breakfast and lunch. We went towards closing but it was still pretty crowded. We were seated immediately and our orders were quickly taken as well. This place definitely gives off diner vibes. The food came out pretty fast and the portions were huge! I was definitely expecting sides to be small but they do not skimp here. My experience here was mixed... Food: Excellent. Reviews about portions size and flavors are spot on. I had their clubhouse sandwich and my wife had the ultimate biscuit sandwich. Both were excellent and we'd order again. Service: Hit and miss. Start with the hostess. We had a party of 5 which has limited seating unless you sit out. We waited and waited and waited while others were being seated. I felt the hostess could acknowledge this and assure us we would have a table soon instead of feeling forgotten. Just a suggestion. Once we got seated, we already knew what we wanted to order (since we waited so long for a table) but were told we have to wait our turn in the order we were seated. Who does that? I guess it wouldn't be a big deal if we hadn't waited so long already. So you have to get your drinks ordered first, then your food ordered. When we got our food, the server parks the cart she uses to bring the food and asks us who has what dish. Instead of walking around the table to take it to the person it's for, she asks us to hand it to that person. ‍ The last thing was I had to go to the register to get my tab because it was never brought to me. Not a big deal if this was the way they do things but everyone else got the tabs brought to them, just not me. The only people I felt were giving us customer service was the person clearing our table (he brought us to go boxes) and the lady where the pastries are. She was very friendly and helpful. Her pancakes came with the "One Better than Denver Omelette" which is a traditional Denver but they add diced tomatoes. It was HUGE. I think I read it's a 4 egg omelette? I don't doubt it. She ordered the home fried potatoes which were very good... but she liked my cheesy potato casserole better. 10/10. * Restrooms = My only real issue with this place. This is a hidden gem. We did not wait long to be seated. I ordered the sampler breakfast w French toast and my bf got the cowboy burger w bacon and garlic fries. They put a large pickle spear along with his burger. The bacon slices are huge! Omg!! It was delightful! The servings where awesome. I even got a coffee cake and blackberry cobbler to go. 5/04/24 Getting breakfast for tomorrow! I called in ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich with country potatoes. It looks like the most popular! The worker was very kind.
