One star for this place. Food was ok. The staff was horrible!!! From the hostesses to the cooks! There were 4 hostesses that had no clue who to seat first very unorganized. We were a table of two, they sat people who had signed in after us. The waitress was flaky. We asked for napkins three times before she could remember. The bartender's took forever to make our drinks. We ordered vegetarian plate they put meat sauce on the enchiladas... took the food back came back with the plate and we get the plate back that is supposed to come with rice there was barely any rice on the plate. .... We're usually pretty happy with Javi's but today was just not their day. After we were sat, it took almost 10 minutes before another server acknowledged that we had been sat and not greeted or served yet. He eventually told us "I'm sorry, I'll go see who your server is". After approximately another 5 minutes our server, Ismenia, finally showed up and took our drink order. My drink was brought out in a decent time but my husband's was not. Ismenia even came back to the table to ask if he'd ordered a drink ??? We kindly reminded her he had ordered a beer and it was then brought out quickly. It took a while for her to come back and take our order for food, but she eventually did. When our food came out everything was correct but the poor food runner didn't see the step up by our table and he tripped, spilling the hot queso from my meal into my lap. As a reflex, I tried to catch the falling kid and plate. We managed to save my food except for the bowl of hot queso which I was now wearing on my bare legs and hands. The poor food runner obviously felt bad and apologized, while holding his side. Another employee in a blue shirt showed up out of no where and asked if it was just the queso that spilled. We said yes while attempting to get hot queso off of my skin. He said he'd be back with more queso. I went to the bathroom to clean up the mess that was now wearing. It was on my shirt, legs, hands, feet, and sandals. When I came back to the table, more queso and napkins had been provided. However, we never saw a manager or anything to address the fact that hot queso had been spilled in my lap and on my legs. The poor food runner did come back towards the end of our meal to apologize but no one else said anything. We never spoke to anyone about what happened. I'm positive our server didn't even know anything occurred as even she never checked to see if I was ok or even burned. We completely understand accidents happen (and this was definitely an accident), but for management to not even check to make sure we were ok was not ok. Food and service is reliably good but the urinal in the men's room was plugged and overflowing and the two guys assigned to "fix" it were shyly standing in the area totally flummoxed. I met my top client here for lunch today, wow how embarrassing. The chef on the other hand needs to be fired. My client's beef fajita tacos were dripping with blood and my grilled mesquite chicken tacos corn tortillas were dripping with grease. The Hostess was unsure on what tables were available when we arrived. As we are being escorted to our table the smell of dirty feet was overpowering that we could not fully enjoy the delicious food. I believe the carpet needs to be professionally cleaned to help with the smell. It seemed that there was a problem with workers not bussing the tables. Been here over a dozen times since I moved here in the last year. Great service and a great location. I love the outside seating! It may be the nicest outside seating in Tyler. The food is always good and generously portioned. The guacamole appetizer is the tastiest and best priced in town. The carne asada is delicious, I get it cooked rare and it is always done perfectly. The fajitas are huge and delicious. Their chipotle ribs are not to be slept on I assure you. Their arroz Verde is really good, as are all of their sides. The Chile Relleno is done a bit differently there but my girlfriend is a big fan. The drinks here are also good and well priced for the area. It's one of the only places that I actually like their frozen cocktails, as they are not too sweet and they have an adequate amount of booze. They also are very accommodating when we bring our two German Shepherds to sit outside! The owners consultant, Tina, is really nice and you can tell that they are very on top of things. We have eaten here twice and both my husband and I agree that the atmosphere is the best part about Javi's. The inside is beautifully decorated and the outdoor space is so nice, overlooking a pond with fish and turtles. The service is very good. The food is mediocre, nothing special. Knowing that this restaurant is owned by the same people as F.D.'s, I expected the food to be better. The margaritas and chips and guac are by far the best part of the meal. I think in the future, we will come back for drinks and appetizers, so that we can enjoy the beautiful view. read more

Wow! Seriously felt like I had left TYLER, TX and stepped into vacation paradise. My husband and I enjoyed a Saturday lunch out on the patio and it was seriously the best outdoor seating I've experienced. The fountain and fans created a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere even in August! Our server, Ramiro, was knowledgeable, attentive and so friendly. He made the experience so much better. I had the carne asada tacos and my husband had the enchiladas. 10/10. To finish, we shared an apple pie a-la-mode. And to make things even better, we got all of that for $31! This restaurant has great tasting food and fun atmosphere! However, the service for the bar is unacceptably slow! We waited for our first round of drinks for 15 minutes, then never received our second round. Do not expect quick bar service when you go to Javi's! Their system needs to be adjusted. This observation/review comes with multiple visits with the same disappointing outcome. Let me start out by saying the food at Javi's is very good. I ordered the sunrise style enchiladas and they were really great. I loved how the chicken was so tender and the sauce inside was very good. My friend ordered the carne asada fajitas and she said it was the best steak that she ever tasted. The only thing was our waitress. When my friend asked her for water she said "you need to learn about table manner and not yell at waiters around the restaurant." She was literally right beside our table and was heading out when we asked and my friend asked in a kind tone if we could please have some water. The next thing that really aggravated us was after we paid for our food and she forgot to give my friend her change back ,but it seemed almost as if she wanted to keep it because she had said bye girls have a good night and when we reminded her to give it back she said oh ya i was just about to get the change from the bar. Finally went to Javi's today, beautiful place, but the favors on the food were iffy. I've found that most Mexican eatery's especially the chains cater to people that wouldn't know good Mex from Taco Bell. Anyway, chips were good and thick, no breakage, that counts, however, they were cold, a top notch eatery would give them a 15 sec dunk and salt them a bit and serve em hot, do it right. The first thing I always taste is the rice, rice that is freshly prepared taste a lot better than rice the made at the beginning of the day. This rice was excellent, great texture and favor. The enchiladas were just so so, dried chicken and bland. I've had better from a white lady that got her receipt from Betty Crocker. I had two tacos on the plate, a small street size crispy beef that was good and a brisket taco, the brisket was tough dry and had an off putting favor, I removed the first and only bite and took the whole thing home for the dogs. I really thought it was gonna be great after the first couple bites of rice, but no. However, since the number one Mexican restaurant in America is Taco Bell I know why the parking lot is always full. One less won't hurt them. read more

Pretty great food at reasonable prices. Had "The Usual" for a cocktail and it was served in a fun way where you get to construct it yourself with a big cube of ice. We had a new server Max who seemed worried about serving us well, but I found him charming and his timing/number of times checking on us was great! My only complaint is more with the customers... There was a decent queue outside and maybe one in 15 people were wearing a mask. We were glad for the check-in feature on this app so we could keep our distance until we were able to be seated in a socially distanced way. read more
