We come here for the all you can eat walleye dinner. It's cheap but great food. Pretty much everything on the menu is good, but that dinner is great. I focus on eating lots of the fish and don't fill up on the all you can eat fries. I don't drink, so I can't comment on the bar service. We come here for lunch or dinner. Oscars is the sister bar. We usually eat here all the time and chose to come on a Friday for a late bite to eat after fishing. I was in shorts and a baseball tee while my boyfriend was in basketball shorts and a tank top. The most disgusting bar I've been to in a long time. I was part of a bachelorette party and not one of us were able to get a drink for the 45 minutes we were inside. It was a complete safety issue anyway. Absolutely over capacity. I never expected a 5 star experience as I actually hang out in dive bars almost exclusively but this place was nasty. The door guys are insistent on checking ID's which would be great if they didn't just let underage kids in anyway. The fire department should really look into their capacity limits, and the health department should stop by as well. read more

Me and my fiance' decided to try someplace new for a good all you can eat fish fry, but were tired of the typical bar fish fry's that are really greasy. We saw some reviews on Jax Pub's walleye dinner and decided to try it besides my fiance' likes the slots and Jax Pub has a few in the back that you can play. The interior is clean and nice and has somewhat of an industrial look, which we like and wasn't crammed together. The bar was absolutely huge and we were amazed how fast the bar tender was as she was rifling drinks and beers out all by herself, kudos to her she worked hard! The menu was not too big where you have a hard time deciding what to eat and they had an all you can eat walleye dinner which i decided to try, HOLY CRAP! Let me just say this, the dinner is $10.99 but you will never make it past the three Ginormous pieces of walleye they give you unless you pass on the all you can eat waffle fries, which I did not and wish I had so I could have had some more fish as it was some of the best walleye I have had yet. The walleye was breaded just right not to much and not to little and was tender and delicious. I was stuffed after the third piece which ever piece was just huge. Even though I never had seconds, it was still well worth the $10.99 we got our moneys worth, we will definitely be back to Jax. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars was the service, the waitress was young and seemed new and was very quiet, not very outgoing and we did notice she was running between about 6 tables so I am sure she was frazzled. She did however, find us when we went to play the slots to refill our drinks so it was par for the course. The bouncers were even nice and thanked us and were kind. We also noticed as we left a young lady asked one of the bouncers to watch her walk to her car as it was late and he never blinked an eye and walked out and made sure she made it to her car ok. I've been here quite a few times. The food is great and the pub is very kept and clean, but as of the my last 3 visits here all 3 have been disappointing to say the least. The waitresses are not attentive at all. They are more busy talking to their friends or coworkers it seems like. My friends went there On a Saturday night and felt racially profiled and discriminated against. They say they've been there before and felt slighted by the wait staff but still try to be loyal patrons. They are not really feeling the Jax vibe anymore and will look for another place to patronize. I love this bar, great during football, hockey and basketball season. They have every game on always, the food is pretty good, and the drinks are cheap as well. An enjoyable experience makes watching my beloved Chicago Bears lose more bear-able. Also on the weekends a better alternative then the Bro Bar across the street. read more

We were in town for a sports tournament and had a group of about 30. I called ahead to see if they were able to fit us in and the hostess was very accommodating. When we arrived we had plenary of space and our server did a great job. Food and drinks were good! A classic bar and grill good for watching sports, having a few drinks and bar food! read more

My wife and I love Jax.They have the best Pork Tenderloin sandwich in town by far...not the take out a bag and put in fryer..but a homemade sandwich that overflows the Bun. The Walleye on Friday is great and the chicken wings are better the BWW.The chef makes a great homemade soup..so far we have had chicken dumpling and chicken noodle.Had Pizza last night! My grandson at Jax last night (Saturday October 8, 2016) and this is what he wrote to me to explain how he was treated. We thought it was gone be a good night because it's always some reason we can't get in... they had this new security guard and he was like come on in fellas and enjoy your night.... so we like cool.... so you know us we shoot straight to the dance floor lbs...music was cracking... as we were dancing we noticed every security guard standing at the door looking right at us, looking like who let them in then out the blue, a bartender comes up to us and asks are we drinking, which never happens, we just got there so not right now, then about 5 min later she comes up to us again....and we're like not right now... then she told my friend we'll yall can't smoke that vape in here... he look at her and said cool...and he put it in his pocket......then like 2 minutes later a bouncer comes up to us like you guys need to buy drinks...he's like y'all got on all these f##!ing expensive cloths...y'all can buy a drink, or y'all gota go... so one of us steps in like you don't have to be talking to us like that....you need to come to us with more respect then that......the bouncer says like not in here I don't..... so another bouncer came and another trying cause a scene....so we said guess we'll get outta here.... so now we're outside and he talking all this nonsense....talking about y'all need to go back across the river pointing towards the west side, and y'all need to get from around here boy.... we like we don't live across the river...we actually stay down the street from here....and we work hard to look this good.. read more

Good sports bar. I only really like it for daytime/ game/ event drinking/ dining, but it's also ok for a night out. The food is good (extensive bar menu), they always have specials and the waitresses are very attentive (and if the waitress is not, it's ok to say so or someone else helps you). Trivia night on Tuesdays is good trivia, not too packed and a happy crowd. Tons of TVs, bar tenders are helpful, etc. They make a good Bloody Mary as well. read more

Came to Jax to eat and watch (and listen) the Bears game. Unfortunately we were told the sound was going to be on the Green Bay Packer game but we could listen on a sound box. This is Illinois and you're highlighting the Packer game. Sorry this is unacceptable! We paid for our drinks and left. We've come to Jax many times to watch the Bears and never had a problem before. We don't mind using the sound box when it's so busy it's the only way to hear the game but not the case today. I've never went to a bar in Illinois who feature another states team. I'm very disappointed in your establishment and won't recommend to other Bear fans! read more

If I could put no stars I would. OK I am very disappointed in Jax pub. This was the second time I've been in there in the last two weeks. A week ago I had the chicken wings and I was very disappointed they were the smallest wings I've ever seen and they were absolutely cooked to death and they were dry and over priced. I had their Fish before and it was pretty good, but Friday night I had The worst fish I've ever had in my life. It really pisses me off that anyone would put that fish on a plate and expect someone to eat it. The Cook needs to be fired for putting that on a plate . This fish was so overcooked it was a real dark brown and it crumbled as you picked it up. Inside was dry and brittle. I wanted to talk to the manager and a little blonde about 22 years old Said she was the manager and told me she would replace my food with no apologies as if she did not care Very unprofessional the Koch should be fired and the manager should be fired definitely the worst food I've experienced in my life read more

Bartender/waitress spilled my friends drink on him. The glass dropped on the floor and shattered everywhere. Our group had just arrived so being under the influence of alcohol was not the issue. The staff never cleaned up the broken glass which was all over the floor. At the close of our evening they still charged my friend for his spilled drink which he didn't even get to enjoy as it was spilled. The management then fought with my friend saying he still had to pay for a drink that was spilled by his staff. End result the management reluctantly after much discussion back and forth (which should have not even had to happen) discounted the drink. Poor management, average staff, and below average bar. read more

Good place, good service, clean, and the beer is NOT watered down. Solid! Not the most social crowd (not Jax's fault) but people are nice. I also like the outdoor portion, it's partially heated in the winter. read more
