Great place for a meal close to the Sheraton Jacksonville. When I travel, I like to find cuisines that I cannot find at home. When I realized that there was a restaurant serving Nepalese (and Indian) food, I had to go! I went on a Monday evening. The place was maybe 10% full. Huge place, very bright and airy. Some TVs over the bar (they have a full bar). No reservations needed on Mondays, for sure. I started with a Nepalese beer. It was fine. I got the chicken momos, the samosas, and the daal with rice. Portion sizes were huge, and the food tasted fresh and well-seasoned. I got way too much food for one person, but I wanted to taste a range on things. I wish I had a bigger stomach! Came for a solo date after getting my nails done and glad I did! I got chicken momos (same wrapper as wonton, but with their spices) and it's served with almost like a tomato sauce type of gravy (I got my steamed), very delicious! I also got an order of butter naan (super fresh and folds). My entree was the standard butter chicken and rice. Didn't wait long for my table or my food. The host sat me and my waiter was right there to answer any questions and take my order. I am going back soon to try some other entrees. Really really solid Indian food. I tried Jaxspice's food for the first time at the Yelp event at the library last year, around the time they were opening this Town c@Center location. I stopped in for a late lunch and tried the Methiwali kali murgh and bullet naan. Both were excellent, and dead on for a 4/6 spice level (enough to make your nose run but nothing crazy). Service was super friendly. The space is enormous but comfortable, and it was mostly empty - come fill this space up so we can have good non-corporate food at the Town Center! read more

Went to JaxSpice for Valentine's Day and had such a great experience. We had to switch our reservation time last minute and they accommodated us with no issues, which I really appreciated. The service was amazing from start to finish, super attentive without feeling overwhelming. I also thought the iPads for the menu were a really cool touch, and I loved that there were visuals for each meal. The portions are HUGE. Our entrees honestly lasted us at least 2 to 3 meals, so definitely come hungry or plan for leftovers. Overall, everything about the night was smooth and enjoyable. Really solid spot and located in such a convenient spot. And the food came out sooo fast. We tried the Veg pakora - I liked this a lot, as well with all of the sauces it came with. Super oniony in a good way! But I found myself wishing it was crispier. Maybe it's because we got it for takeout though. Naan - was debating on getting this because the curry came with rice, but I'm so glad we did. It was so warm and soft and chewy. Part of me wishes we had gotten another order just because it was so good, but it's honestly big enough on its own that one order was enough. Chicken tikka masala (medium) - basic I know, but it's basic for a reason! Super creamy and really hit the spot. But a little on the spicier side for me, kind of wish there was a level between mild and medium. Chicken biryani - the portions for this are hugeee. Fantastic! Fortunate to be there for lunch during their grand opening of the Gate Pkwy location. the food , service, owner were all wonderful. There's table and booths and the it's clean and well lighted The items were marked for the event so what we were able to sample we could relate to name and all the items were spot on! My favs were the garlic butter Naan, all the appetizers were tasty esp the chicken 65 chicken mo mo and chickpea salad. The bar area has TVs be a good spot for some game watching Like the menus are on a tablet so easy to read - overall very good experience. Definitely will return. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Jax! The service is always top notch and it's a huge space, perfect for big parties. We came to celebrate my dad's birthday and he loves this spot. My favorites are the garlic cheese naan and chicken 65, but everything is so good, you can't go wrong. There was adequate parking and lots of seating inside and outside. The restaurant was airy and clean. I do not usually eat Indian food, but Jax spice did it right. During a trip for work, I landed myself in Jacksonville, Florida. The new office site we are opening is across the street from this shopping center and I noticed a "Now Open" sign for this location. I try to eat vegetarian, so Indian cuisine is a go to for me. Can't beat the spices, flavor, and overall freshness you find in Indian cuisine & this new location did not disappoint. I overheard staff say they just opened a week ago, and I'm glad to see a large group of 12 dining in with a few tables as well. Off to a great start and our service was great to get us in for our hour lunch. We both remarked how fresh the food was, and I loved the level 4 spice though I'll probably do 5 or may get adventurous with 6 (Indian Hot) next time. Yes, a next time as this food was great! The dishes are large, so you can easily share or take leftovers like I did. Nothing like Indian leftovers in your hotel room. Definitely enjoyed and wish this business much success! read more

I learned about this restaurant at the recent yelp event. I am familiar with the restaurant at the beach and so I knew I would be familiar with the quality of food. They have street and parking lot parking, which was free. The restaurant is located a few minutes. Drive away from the town center in the same compound as midtown table. When I visited today, the restaurant was relatively empty as they are not fully open as yet. At this point, the started a soft opening. The menu included appetizer and main course dishes, but no disease at this point. They did not have any drinks, other than water, but that is understandable as they are not for the open. The space is large and open, and the decorations are not fully in place. The ambience did not bother me as I was here for the food! We started off with vegetable samosas, which tasted fantastic. They were hot and fresh with a crisp shell and tasty center. For the main course we had rice, plain and garlic, naan, lamb, korma, as well as butter, chicken and paneer. Our server was attentive and prompt and checked in with us frequently without being too intrusive. Our portions were large where we had enough to take home to have a second meal tomorrow. We got great recommendations per split to spice levels and started up with mild and medium range. Orders for space which was well tolerated and tasty. We will try to make another visit in a couple weeks time when they are fully opened. We are not disappointed and I recommend that you try it out! So excited that JaxSpice opened a new location on Gate Pkwy! The food was absolutely incredible -- we tried the samosas, pakoras, daal tadka, shrimp curry, and chicken biryani, and every dish was full of bold, authentic flavor. You can really taste the care and quality in each bite. The service was outstanding -- a big thank you to Chris and Sunny for making us feel so welcome! Jax Spice might be my favorite spot for Indian food in the area. I was pretty excited when this new location opened up within walking distance of my office. The restaurant looks great, the service is solid, and the menu is huge and full of classics like naan, butter chicken, tikka masala, and more. Everything I've tried has been delicious, and they definitely live up to the name with just the right amount of spice. I went to the new Jax Spice location on Gate Parkway. I was solo dining and sat at the bar. Chris was very attentive and the service was awesome. I had The Elder martini to drink. It is now one of my favorite martinis! It is very similar in taste to a lemon drop martini, but I found it to be more refreshing and not as sweet. To eat I had the Kachumber Salad and the Methiwali Kali Murgh. Both were very fresh and really good. The salad had crisp cucumbers, tomatoes, and red onion tossed in a light squeeze of citrus and a little salt. Rhe Methiwali Kali Murgh included a side of rice. The sauce that the chicken was in had a flavor unique to me that was really good. If I had to describe it, I would say it had a hint of curry and tomato flavor. I loved it. I chose a spice level of 3, and it was truly medium where there is a bite, but not fire. The location itself is clean and there is a ton of space. The bar has a lot of seating, there are plenty of tables inside, and they also have outdoor seating. I'm looking forward to returning and hopefully will make it for happy hour soon. read more

We went to dinner at Gate Pkwy location and were very disappointed. Ambiance is lacking but no big deal. The waitress was great...very friendly and attentive. The problem was the food. Veg pakora was ok, needed salt or some flavor...chutney was good. Samosas are very large but pastry was strange and filling was bland. I was waiting for the "Jaxspice"! Well boy did we get it with the curries! We ordered 3 out of 5 spice level...can handle spicy but were so spicy almost inedible. Cannot imagine what level 4 and 5 are like! Biggest problem was my husband's goat Boona curry...came with small bones in curry, so tiny almost swallowed or crack tooth, would have been really bad...dont get goat curry here. Meat on bones is normal at other Indian restaurants with goat but bones supposed to be large, not little sharp pieces. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

We did not get any dinner napkins, when asked for we were given few beverage napkins, which are not good enough after eating Indian food. Hope this restaurant start providing Regular dinner napkins. The Jax Spice gate parkway location is delightful, the location is close to the town center but tucked away from all the madness of the main town center area. The food is great, with customizable spice levels and generous portions. We ordered a chicken Biryani, Chana aloo, butter naan and poori, with the samosa and papad for appetizers. We chose a cowardly level 2 for spice and agreed that we could have gone up higher. At level 2 the food was flavorful but not spicy at all. So if you like a bit of heat but don't have anything to prove a 3 or 4 maybe a better choice. Service was great, our server was very friendly and helpful. The decor is modern and understated. It might get noisy when it's crowded but we had a pleasant time as there weren't too many occupied tables. read more

We ordered take out last night. OMG, where do we start! The appetizers we ordered 3 of them were to die for. We have never tasted Naan bread like we had-garlic and with cheese. Then the 3 dinners were also excellent including butter chicken. I need a crane to lift the bag our order was so heavy and very good volumes of everything for the price! Jax Spice, our favorite Indian restaurant, has recently opened near the Town Center. The space is large and minimalist--open layout, clean lines--very different vibe than the other two locations. What's the same is the high quality of the food. My methi wali kali murgh and my husband's chicken tandoori were scrumptious. Side dishes of papadum, grilled vegetables and raita were equally delectable. Gracious server Raunak further enhanced our excellent first meal at the new Jax Spice.
