We got seated, and the waiter took our drink order. He was very polite. It wasn't a lot of items on the buffet, but enough to fill your plate. One 1/2 of the buffet was vegan and the other side had meat. (I do both) The waiter had to tell me what some of the items were. I kid you not, I had forgot that the cauliflower was cauliflower, I never would have known. It was so good. Everything was good! Now, I don't like okra, I've only seen the slimy version. This Okra had not a bit of slime (but I still didn't care for it) The desert, I'm sorry I only know how to describe it, I don't know what it's called. But they are balls, with liquid. I've had this before, to me, theses were way too sweet for me. You might like it like that. So that's the one dish I couldn't eat. If you like intense flavor, you might want to check this place out. Got take out from here last night and have a lot of complaints about the food. First I will start with the rice, which was dry and clumped together. It was almost like it was made the previous day and they were trying to get rid of it before making a fresh batch. The lamb and chicken tikka masala were lacking in flavor and meat was super dry. Finally the chutneys were just straight up bad. The tamarind chutney did not taste like tamarind chutney and was watery. I was excited to find onion chutney here (which is a staple at Indian restaurants in the northeast - NY to Boston), was also watery and tasted like they simply cut up some onions and put them in tomato paste. Gross. I am not sure what was off about the naan and paratha breads but they also just didnt sit right. One saving grace was the Gobi Manchurian, which was absolutely delicious. On my first go, I grabbed a plate at the buffet and tried just about everything (except the soup & the 2 rice dishes). I noticed about 1/2 the dishes were still like warm (they probably just turned their chaffing dishes on just before they opened). - something to note, if you prefer a hot meal. - I'm not picky, I come for the flavor. I discovered my favorite dishes for the day, and went back for 2nds, and even 3rds. I loved that they had 3 different dessert options to chose from, typically it's just one dessert on the table when I've gone to other Indian buffets. I spend about $19 before tip. We have been here a few times now and each time it has been great. This is easily one of our favorite spots. The great part is, while it's in a strip mall, the decor and set up can easily make you forget that and feel like your in a stand alone restaurant. I always go with Chicken Tikka or Chicken Biryani and have not been disappointed. Be prepared for a little bit of a wait as the food takes a little while but it is always fresh, hot and tasteful. The sauce itself with rice were tasty! They also have vegetables such as okra, I think it was sautéed, and breaded cauliflower that tasted a bit sweet and tangy. So good! I am a big fan of Indian cuisine, so I was eager to visit here on a recent trip to Jacksonville for the Jazz at festival. I had the buffet on Sunday. The atmosphere was pleasant and our waitress was nice . I also considered the price point more than reasonable. The Masala, my favorite, was slightly below average. I also tried the Paneer which did not have as much flavor as I am accustom. I tried several dishes but unfortunately none stood out. The Naan was slightly average and I did enjoy the Makhani and the Biryani. Overall the dishes are all slightly below my expectations. I might return if on another trip just to see if perhaps it was an off day but I would not necessarily be enthusiastic. If I could I would likely give it a 3.5 out of the 5 stars. read more

This mandarin location is closer to my side of town than most of the other Indian restaurants and that works for me. As you enter it has a india traditional vibe with Bright colors and great smell. We ordered Butter Chicken and Chicken Tiki Masala and various Naan. They have several spice levels to choose and we choose mild for our curries which I would probably step up 1 next time just to see the difference. The curry was light and creamy and the chicken was moist. It met my craving. The only con was the service. We felt like a bother than a welcomed visitor. Our appetizer came as we were paying the bill so we had to have them remove it. This is understandable, but I don't eat anywhere near enough in one sitting to justify the $20+Tax buffet price. I ordered Paneer Tikka Masala. Absolutely fantastic! My wife and I visited on a Tuesday night, very little business just like three other tables with guests. We got Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala and Naan. Everything was excellent, It's the best I've found in Jacksonville. I did notice they offer a lunch buffet also do we will visit that next week and sample some other dishes. We weren't in an experimental mood and I just wanted to find a good Tikka Masala, and they certainly delivered. This will become our new regular spot when craving Indian!! Just wow. I have been searching for a really good Indian food spot since I came home to Jacksonville. Tonight, we chose this little cozy spot for our date night and I was not disappointed! We had a small wait when we arrived but were seated where we asked fairly quickly. They were pretty full but the design of the restaurant gives it a very cozy feeling as the booths are recessed into little private nooks. I loved this since hubby and I were on our aforementioned date night and we felt like we had some privacy. We started dinner with Samosas and the chicken lollipops. The samosas were massive! They were full of flavor and very filling. To be safe, I only ate a quarter so I didn't fill up too fast! We also had the chicken lollipops for an appetizer and those were just packed with flavor. Definitely had some heat too! Dinner was lamb korma for me and chicken tikka biryani for the hubby. Both were giant portions! We have food for days! Nothing makes me happy like some yummy Indian food. Masala is one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to in America... that's saying a lot because I grew up in the UK and have had my fair share of dinners in India! The paneer masala and butter chicken were perfectly spiced, creamy and delicious. The masala dosa was, of course, massive and absolutely one of my favourite dishes. The samosas were a great starter and paired well with my very favourite beer, King Fisher. They had some Bollywood movies playing on a TV, would have loved some Indian music to go along with it. The choice of explicit current day rap and R&B didn't quite fit my expectation. Our original server was a bit standoffish, but the manager (possibly the owner) who helped check us out at the end and provided us with boxes was nice and curious about our experience. I don't even know where to start but WOW. 10/10 GOOD. My mom and I went today for lunch with my little girl and every single thing we ordered was to die for. We started with the cheese masala dosa and vegetable samosa's which were so packed with flavor and made with love. The dosa came with an incredible vegetable soup as well. The chutney and sauces were spectacular. We were loving every single bite. For our entrees I got the butter chicken and she got the chicken tikka masala. OH MY GOD, delicious!!!!!!!!! We ordered the garlic naan to go with it and dip and also rice came with the meals. Seriously we will continuously be back again and again! Not bad for a buffet I guess. And I'm sure I would've spent a lot more ordering off the menu. You've got some of your standard buffet issues of course. The samosas are kinda lukewarm and maybe a tad drier than they should be. The naan is cut into small, crispy pieces. In terms of texture if not flour, it's more like roti than naan. Most of the curries are also lacking in heat, both degrees and scovilles. Lamb curry and chicken tikka masala both had a warm savoriness that I crave in curry. (you know I'm jumping on that lamb once I see it). The lamb was soft and had just enough fat for my fat fetish. The sauces have that irresistible buttery feel to them. Most of the meat dishes at least had a small kick, but they can't safely offer something spicy enough to excite me on a buffet. The egg curry....welp, it's an egg. The curry was okay. There were some great vegetarian dishes (not unexpected for Indian cuisine though). My personal favorite was probably the aloo gobi masala. You wouldn't normally think of cauliflower as something to leverage for umami, but.....wow. Wow. Delicious. Chickpeas are also always welcome. read more
