So pretty, in front
Vanessa T.

Me and a friend are making our way down Baymeadows road trying places we haven't ever been! So this was dinner one night, walking up they have this beautiful mural outside, this place has been a few different Indian restaurants but this time is the prettiest I have seen, outside and inside, dark and moody and music, really cool inside! We get a table and start to order we think our server couldn't hear us maybe cause I think we got different things then we ordered but hey we just ate them, lol! Everything we tried was very good, but definitely seemed like some miscommunication with our server, like we asked for mild on a dish and it came out so spicy. Despite that we ate everything and enjoyed, standout dish for me was the mushroom Nan it was SO delicious! Piping hot fresh with cheese and mushrooms in it, with butter all over!

I will admit, I still have yet to sit in this darling space and enjoy a meal. This gorgeous restaurant has staff that is attentive, efficient and friendly. I often stop in to grab a quick dinner before they close during the week. The buffet looks very enticing and I've been told they hold space for events and parties, as well as serves as a truly brilliant backdrop for a date for one or a few. This place is so pretty, and the vegetarian options run aplenty on the menu. A gem in the industrial parks of the Baymeadows area

I came in today to try the buffet after getting an amazing "too good to go" order. I had very little time and my phone battery was so low my phone was dying but they still accommodated me anyways thankfully. The hostess was so nice she brought me fresh Nan bread and even checked me several times in the short time span I was there. The buffet its self was amazing. It's not a massive buffet but I find that so much better. I rather 20 amazing dishes then 30 so so choices. Each dish was spiced perfectly and nothing was off or rushed feeling. I got a to go box for family and she even let me take my Naan bread with me since I came so late and they had to close. I ate too much to try any sweets. but the buffet also had that and a ton of fruits and tea and soups to try. Must go!

Really love this place. All the staff is lovely. Genuine and sincere, even gracious. Food is outstanding. Ambiance is spot on. Lots of texture and color and very clean. Menu is big but not too big. The chef comes out of the kitchen to check on the food. They really make you feel special. Highly recommend the cocktails and mocktails- and the mango lasso!!

I feel like I can never go wrong with an Indian restaurant. We were greeted and seated as soon as we stepped in the door. . We thought it was going to be crowded, there were a lot of cars in the parking lot. No one was there. But soon heard the party of people in the back. It wasn't loud, but you know they were there. From my little experience with Indian buffets, they usually are not that big, like what most buffets we see. But enough variety for everyone. Our waitress was really nice. a lot of stuff I didn't know what it was. we asked someone about the vegetarian options. And he told us where the meat options start. They had a small salad as well, again, not sure what the sauces were, so I just went with the white creamy sauce. They had Curry paneer and Just found out the green one was Spinach paneer, Cauliflower, 3 rice options and not sure what the other items were. My favorite dish here is the Cauliflower dish, let me tell you..... If you don't tell them they wouldn't know it was cauliflower. It had so much flavor and it didn't look like cauliflower either. The salad was good, I did like the sauce I put on it, with the pickled onions. The Paneers were really good, I prefer the curry paneer. And I loved the flavored rice choices they had. The desert table.....Again, I have no clue what a lot of stuff was on it. I only tried the vermicelli pudding, it was only a little sweet, it was good, but nothing like I ever had before. So what was funny they had these balls. I didn't know what to do with it . I was just going to bite into it. I asked our waitress, and she said to punch a hole in it. As I was doing it, she wanted to assist me....With her finger lol I had to tell her not to touch my ball. Your suppose to fill it with something on the table (not sure what that was) and the liquid that was on the table. I decided to just fill it with the liquid. When I got to my table, I popped the ball in my mouth.....And let me just say, that wasn't it! I should have got more clarification. It was actually hilarious! We laughed so hard!

Karma's lunch buffet is amazing quality and deal ($15.99). We have tried other Indian lunch buffets and this one has a great variety during lunch time. A lot of vegetarian and meat options. My husband loved the goat curry and the chicken biryani! I love the 95 chicken and all of the paneer dishes! The inside is so clean and beautifully decorated. All of the staff were kind and very attentive. The mango lasasi was also delicious! Stop in if your in the baymeadows area!

Just had dinner at Karma last weekend and I have to say, this place is absolutley incredible! For those who don't know, this used to be Minerva restaurant but they recently rebranded. Same owner, same amazing quality though - just a new name. First of all, the decor is hands down the best I've seen in Jacksonville. Like seriously, I've been to alot of upscale places around town but nothing compares to the ambiance here. The lighting, the artwork, the whole vibe - its just perfect for date night or even a special celebration with friends. The food was outstanding. We ordered the butter chicken and Goat Biryani and both were cooked to perfection. You can really tell they use fresh ingredients and the presentation was beautiful. My wife got the naan and chicken curry and she couldn't stop raving about it. What really made the night special was the owner himself. He actually came by our table to check on us and chat for a bit. Super friendly guy, very passionate about the restaurant and making sure everyone has a great experience. You dont see that kind of personal touch much anymore, so it really stood out. We'll definately be back soon! If you haven't tried Karma yet (or if you loved Minerva back in the day), you need to check this place out. Best restaurant experience I've had in Jacksonville in a long time!

Mysore Masala Dosa
Amira I.

We tried this restaurant for the first time while traveling through Jacksonville and I must say I really liked it. We made reservations and were seated right away. The ambiance is very nice and our server was very sweet. The service was quick and the food was delicious. We ordered chicken dum Briyani, vegetable jalfrezi, and mysore dosa with Rasam. Everything tasted really good. I loved their fresh coconut water with basil seeds. It was very refreshing and see photos of the food below. As a nice gesture and surprise, they treated us with complimentary ras malai at the end!

The food was really good. I was there during lunch service with buffet. Everything was delicious and a little spicy. very good, my favorite item was the curry coconut chicken and punugulu

Uncooked daal. This was the qty left after we were done eating. Can you guess how good it was? Not at all!
Ruchi M.

No water offered, had to ask a few times and were asked to wait for it. Had to ask for plates and silverware to eat food. No napkins at the table and not offered. Had to get up and get it from the buffet table. No apologies said, had to wait for atleast 15 minutes to get the naan after the semi cooked daal came. Appetizer was inedible since it tasted like cornflour basically. Short staffed and staff working is running frantically, haphazard like chicken with no head. Absolute waste of time, money and calories.

We come in around 8:15PM on a Sunday night so we had no issue getting a table. Once seated we started off with drinks. I normally go for a Kingfisher but they didn't have it. Was they did have was better. We got a Taj Mahal Lager and this bad boy comes in a large size which we were all impressed with. A full 22oz-24oz bottle gets us every time. For entrees they had a bunch of options and the prices were really good. We of course had to get some Naan and we went with Garlic and Chili Cheese. Their Garlic Naan was thinner then I was used too but still good. The Chili Cheese Naan was great and I will be getting this every time it is offered. I ended up getting by go to. The Lamb Korma spicy level hot. This again was a great price $19 or $20. Most Indian places have it $5 or $7 more for Lamb. This was a nice big serving and it was loaded with tender chunks of Lamb. I will say it was for sure a more mild spice for sure not hot and the Korma Curry was flavorful but not as much as I have had. I would for sure come back because prices are very good friendly staff and so many options.

When I did a business culture treat at Hyderabad India back in 2014, this was the food right outside the hotel and Persis Indian Grill takes me back to that delicious memory and we are blessed to have it here at Baymeadows as it is very consistent with flavor and the service is always great. The servings are very gracious that you most likely will take some to go. Oh, and just be sure to address the server about the spice level as a medium can be a bit too hot for some. At a mild spicy as a start would be ideal and you work your tolerance along the next visit, so that you can enjoy your meal :)

There is also a service bar in the rear corner of the main dining room, so they have a full liquor license now. We went on a Wednesday evening for dinner and the place was mostly empty, only a few customers but lots of to-go orders being picked up. Service was quick and attentive and the food quality continues to be excellent. We had a couple of Mango Lassi's, onion kulcha, shrimp biryani, and lamb biryani. We asked for mild, but of course biryani always has a little spice heat that is pleasant and you temper it with the Raita that comes along with the dish. Portions are huge - we took at least half of each dish home. We finished up with the free mango soft serve which was a very nice way to counter the lingering spice flavors from the biryani. All together an excellent and authentic Indian dining experience. If anything, 5th Element has improved since moving to the new location. I did notice my pet peeve when checking out that the suggested tip amounts on the bill are calculated including sales tax. Since sales tax has nothing to do with food quality and service, I calculate my own tip amount based on the subtotal before tax. I see most restaurants these days excluding sales tax from the tip calculations but 5th Element hasn't caught up yet.

I'm a white woman married to a Indian man and I love Indian food. I cook it quite well so when I eat out for Indian food, I have very high expectations. Ironically, I have a much higher spice tolerance than my husband. But whenever he orders and ask for medium spice, it's exactly right. But whenever I order and ask for a medium spice it's nowhere near spicy enough. I don't know if that is just because I sound like I can't handle my spice, but it happens every single time. But getting onto the actual taste and quality of the food. Their Panera biryani is one of my favorites, though I do like their veg biryani more my husband first appear so we usually settle for paneer. It is perfectly cooked so fluffy and delightful and oh my goodness is it abundant. One $15 container will make at least four meals. My husband and I will get one box and share it for lunch or dinner and then put it away because it will be another lunch or dinner later. And it's not like we eat a little we eat a full plate and this box is stuffed to the brim. Service--8/10. My only complaint here is regarding service. It can take a while sometimes to pick up your order, especially when they first open. And I'm not saying it takes time for it to be available because I will often arrive and see it sitting on the shelf, but no one is at the front counter to check me out. I have honestly never dined in at this location so I can only address the service in the aspect of takeout orders. Atmosphere--10/10. It is a very centralized location and a nice strip mall with accessible parking and ample at that. The interior is quite nice and what you'd expect in an Indian restaurant with beautiful cultural pieces around the interior. So if you are looking for a place to eat in this would definitely be atmospherically a nice place.
