I've been going to Dr. Citrin for going on 6 years and I love him and his staff. The first time I called to make an appointment, I'd been living in Tucson for a few years and hadn't seen a dentist and was terrified to go in for a cleaning. I called and the receptionist was SO sweet and got me right in (even though there can be a wait to see him- his practice is very popular!). First off, his office is amazing- beautifully landscaped, water falls, greenery, etc. On the inside? It's apparent that Dr. Citrin loves basketball, especially U of A, but he's a fan of other teams as well. I can't comment much on the waiting room because I've never really waited in there- they're that prompt! Each exam room has a big picture window that you get to look out (when you're not tilted back being worked on). I've seen TONS of wildlife outside of those windows and it's very relaxing (for the nervous types like me!). Their equipment is also state of the art, including digital x-rays! They show up instantly on the computer screen in the room and there's no development wait time. Fancy! Their hygienist is great, very friendly, and gentle. Dr. Citrin (sometimes people call him Dr. Jay) is SO NICE. He's funny, personable, and always has time to chat about bball or golf, or his kids. He takes the time to get to know you as a person, not just a chart and a patient number. Okay folks, time to come clean. I've had a cavity or two and have had them filled by Dr. Jay. Part II- I'm SUCH a wuss when it comes to dental work. When he had to numb me up, I cried and he gave me tissues (I've seriously had other dentists tell me to "suck it up"). He's very sensitive and pays attention to the patients' comfort level in addition to doing a great job with the dental work. At the end of each exam, you are given a toothbrush (and it's a nice one too, not just a one-use travel type) that says "Dr. Jay Loves Me!", a travel tube of toothpaste and some floss. Seriously, people. I get WAY excited about that toothbrush. I highly recommend him- I can't say enough good things about the practice he has established in the Old Pueblo. read more

My husband and I have been going to see Dr Jay for 12 years now. Dr. Johnson is a great new addition to the practice. I find the Doctors and the staff to be highly competent. I appreciate the work ethic at this office. "If it ain't broke don't fix it". Dentist in the past have recommended unnecessary procedures for me because my insurance is very good and they could make more money. You will not find that in this office. I have my teeth cleaned three times a year and have not had to have any dental work done in 12 years. The hygienist are excellent! The front desk staff is wonderful. They file all insurance paperwork I have never had to do anything regarding insurance billing. Very happy! read more

My dentist of over 35 years retired in 2012. I received a recommendation for Dr. Citrin from a close friend who had been visiting Dr. Citrin for a number of years. One day in 2012 I awoke with a throbbing tooth and began to call his office around 6:00 AM which was answered by Dr. Citrin himself. He asked if I could be in the office by 6:30 AM. I arrived at 6:30 AM and he drilled and filled an old filling and all was well. A day later I received a phone call from Dr. Citrin (not his office staff) and he inquired about the filling and if there were any problems. 2 days later I received a personally written thank you note from Dr. Citrin for coming to see him. My wife went in to see him and she loves him and his staff as well. We have since sent 3 other people to see him and they all love him, his staff and his professional care. Each recommendation to him resulted in a personally written letter of thanks from Dr. Citrin. His staff, including, Cathy in the front office, are professional and caring. This dental office and Dr. Citrin are the best in Tucson!!! Been going to him ever since and I sincerely hope that he will not retire before I no longer need dental care!!!! read more

Dr. Citrin and his staff are kind, considerate, and usually call two weeks out, one week out, and two days before the appointment to remind me. For me this is unnecessary as I usually put the appointment in my phone the day I set it with the secretary ... but I'm thankful! Sometimes phones loose appointments. Also Dr. Citrin has been rather generous with my wife and myself. We enjoy talking with everyone there. read more

After extensive research and reading reviews I opted to make an appointment with Dr. Citron.  The reviews that I read showed that he was great dentist.  When I called to make an appointment the woman that answered the phone was not professional at all.  She was short on the phone and seemed to be bothered by my questions.  It appeared to me that she did not want to answer my questions and her customer service skills were less than average.  Despite my first impression I still made the appointment, since the dentist was highly recommended.         When I went to my initial appointment the receptionist was not warm nor welcoming which was not a surprise to me based on my initial conversation.  During the appointment, Dr. Citron was great and he made me feel like I had made the right choice.  Since he was going to be working on my teeth, this to me was most important and I was willing to look past my initial phone experience.        I had a teeth cleaning appointment scheduled a few weeks later in June.  On the day of the appointment I became very ill and I was not able to make the appointment.  When I called in to cancel the appointment, the receptionist was very rude and made it seem like it was my fault.  There was no empathy for my situation and again she made me feel like I was being a bother to her.  She explained to me that they would not have an available appointment until September but that she would put me on the waiting list for a sooner appointment.  Since I was sick and did not feel like arguing I took the September appointment with the hope of an earlier cancellation, again keep in mind that this was in June.      It is now August and I had yet to hear from the office so I called in for an update.  When speaking to the receptionist she was rude and seemed bothered by my questions.  When i asked for a referal to an oral surgeon she seemed botheref by any of my questions that i had regarding my next steps.  She then stated to me that I had missed my appointment and that it was not her fault.  She stated to me that her next available appointment was in October, what happened to my September appointment??  She lacks any type of customer service skills and it's sad to say but I have had better customer service skills from someone in another country.  I called back and asked to talk to Dr. Citron, to comment on the experience that i had with his receptipnist.  When I gave feedback regarding the receptionist, Dr. Citron became defensive stating that his receptionist is "good at her job and what she does".  He proceeded to tell me that he was "very upset with me for missing my appointment and was contemplating on charging me but did not".  At this point I could not believe what I was hearing.  I have never had an experience like this and I was appauled.  I have worked in customer service for years and never had I heard anything such as this and I was taken back.  It felt like a dream.        I would not recommend anyone to go to this office.  The receptionist is very unprofessional and Dr. Citron proved to be the same.  You are only as good as your weakest link and if Dr Citron delivers this type of customer service then it's no wonder why the receptionist would as well.  I will take my business elsewhere. Pulled tooth so violently. Caused what he thought was dry socket, no caused tmj in joint of jaw. Took forever to diagnose. I felt like he had bad morning and took out on me. The headaches , pain in ear. All the other. Drs I had to see to resolve. They tried everything was about to do surgery to repair, I suggest a bridge or partial to make up for teeth pulled. That lil weight placed in back, fixed jaw and tmj issues. I still suffer once in a while . But he was the worst dentist ever. read more

I've been meaning to write a review of Dr. Citrin for many months. He is unquestionably a fine dentist but, importantly, he's also a professional who values responsive and caring service. Here is an example of what I mean: On a Sunday morning I wake up with a tooth ache. I email Dr. Citrin to advise him of my problem. He responds almost immediately and tells me that he'll call me Monday morning around 7:30am to set up a time for me to see him. On Monday he calls promptly at 7:30am and asks me to stop by the office at 9:00am which I do. X-rays are promptly taken and a root canal is advised. He has his administrative assistant contact a specialist in the area and the very next day the root canal is performed and all is OK. I'm so happy to have found Dr. Citrin. He's "as good as it gets!" read more

Not true about timing. Very very rude and racist. Not very good work. He has put a crown of two connected teeth. A second opinion told me that should not be placed likewise as it caused me gum inflammation. read more

Not the best place. I feel like I am treated unfairly and always getting yelled at instead of talked to like an adult. I have since switched dentists. The receptionist feels like she doesn't want to work there and not very pleasant when you walk in. They have a hygeniest first clean your teeth, she is very sweet just doesn't feel like she does a good job and not professional. read more

This is the finest dentist in Tucson. I'm from California visiting here; he did not know me from Adam. Had a dental emergency/broken crown .....he saw me immediately, fixed he up just perfect, was nice, kind, affordable, and QUICK. This is THE dentist in Tucson. Thank you Dr. Jay! read more

Recommend reading all the way through.... it's long but can save your credit. I am giving a review over a decade after going to this dentist. I did not have a bad experience I had a root canal and a crown and services were required to be paid at the time of services and they were. It has been over a decade and I randomly got a bill for $892. I have never received anything until today REMEMBER I HAVEN'T been there in I believe over 12 years, at a minimum a decade. I am also 100% sure they are well past the statue of limitations and don't understand why it would take this long if it was even an accurate bill....which it is not. I will be contacting the office first thing in the morning but people need to stand up when things like this happen. You can not randomly bill someone over a decade later especially an in-correct bill. If it takes you this long to reconcile your account I can't imagine what the rest of your requirements behind the scene look like. ** update called the office she said the bill was from 2006 I explained to her I have always paid for services at the time they were rendered and she was past the statue of limitations, she stated there are no statue of limitations I told her she was incorrect and was hung up on. read more

They call multiple times ahead for appointment reminders as well as allowing you to re-schedule if you aren't able to come on the scheduled day. The staff is always pleasant and friendly. I had an appointment to see Dr. Citrin a few months back. The night before my appointment my dog had 4 grand mal seizures. I called his office first thing in the morning at 8:00am to cancel my appointment because my dog was in grave condition. I informed the receptionist of what had happened and that I couldnt make my appointment and I was willing to pay any cancellation fee to not have to leave my dog after having 4 grand mal seizures the night before. This was the receptionists exact response. "It is a pain when people do this to us, This is a major inconvenience for us when people do this". There was absolutely no apology for my dog just having several seizures and no "I'm sorry to hear about this". The receptionist was beyond rude to me at a time that I thougth I was going to make a decision about my dogs life. This place is supposedly "family dentistry". Well based on my experience this office is anything but a "family" outfit when their more concerned about a missed appointment than a "family dog" that just had 4 grand mal seizures. read more
