So no hot water, all weekend. They came today (Monday), after he installed it he asked me to sign. I said, the water is not hot yet, so how do I know it works before I sign. (Don't people want to know things work before they sign?) His response was "you will sign or I will make SURE it doesn't work." Reluctantly, I signed. Also, they drained the old one. There was already water there from the leaking but they left it much worse than it was. I would think a plumbing company would shop vac their mess up? Not a great experience. Owner David Cioto, who has been in the drain and sewer business for 29 years, responded very quickly to my urgent call when my basement sink started backing up with waste water. He said that every time I flushed the toilet on the first floor, toilet paper and waste was gurgling up in the old soapstone basement sink. Yuck. David was very knowledgeable and explained to me that there could be multiple clogs in several lines. He said that a U-shaped pipe was in the sewer line, which needed an eel (not a snake) to clear. He snaked (eeled???) the sewer line 88 feet to the town sewer line. He also found two major clogs underneath the sink itself, and where the sink pipe was meeting the sewer line. As a bonus, he adjusted my toilet and gave me lessons on how to prolong flushes and keep sink water running to clear the pipes. Nice small family-run business. It's basically David as the main sewer/drain person (with some occasional help) and his wife answering phones. My first impression of David was that he was a bit of a bull in a China shop (LOL) - because he's kind of loud and fast with his work. He was very focused on getting the job done and not one, initially, for chitter chatter. But later he calmed down and told me stories of his daughters and his business. Nice guy. Note that my regular plumber could not clear the very deep clogs that I had. So, a drain person was needed. David said that he could not do what a plumber does. And many plumbers don't want to do what David does. His work is guaranteed for three months. I would definitely call Drain King again. P.S. I saw a random bad review of work done by a former employee of Drain King. David said that employee has not worked for him for five years.

So when our washer standpipe started overflowing yet again, I called them out. This was the last time I will ever call them. They did send someone out (I didn't catch his name, he didn't introduce himself), but the 20 minute heads-up call that someone was on their way came as he was literally ringing our doorbell, I showed him down to the area where our main drain is located, he repeatedly asked about our bulkhead doors. Our bulk head is in ill-repair, so we don't use it, and don't really want to be liable for anyone else using it, so I said it was not accessible (he asked 3 more times after that). He asked when our last date of service was, I couldn't remember, it has been over 2 years, so he said he had to "ask his girl", so he trucks outside cell phone in his pocket to do so. I already had a bad feeling from all of the negativity being spewed at me, direct quote: "You guys are killing me." 5 minutes later he rings the door and states that due to a reoccurring knee injury, he can not perform the job, and he is apparently the only tech that works for the company, because he offered no other tech that would be available tomorrow, next day, etc, he did give me 2 names of "buddies" of his that may be able to do the job... Hmmm, to trust his recommendation... ?!? Apparently, they are not to worried about keeping repeat business.
