The DJ is very unprofessional and willing to make a crowd very uncomfortable. It can be the owner at fault since they are siblings, but the DJ acts like the sister gave him a break. I noticed he was making advances with a female customer cause she wanted to leave. That moment felt really uncomfortable. I was in the bathroom, talking with my friend and he was begging for illegal substances which I had none of and as I left I heard him call me "sorry ass n***a." I used to like this place a lot. He is a big issue. I hope the owner realizes that because I really want to support this place since it's local. read more

Walked in and instead of someone coming over to seat us the owner waived us in from across the room. Waited 5 minutes for the bar tender to take our drink order. Waited another 10 minutes for a menu. Had to go over to owner and request them. Waited 5 minutes and again had to say something for the bar tender to come take our order. Food came out quickly but not together. Ordered onion rings instead of French fries to go with burger but still got fries. They made that right but the onion rings were very greasy and had two slices of onion instead of one. They soaked several napkins per ring. Both men's and women's bathroom were disgusting and looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in a week. Men's urinal was backed up with what looked like vomit. Their wasn't a single usable toilet in the women's room and also a note asking customers to use less soap because it's expensive. Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon but never ate. It's a dive bar and had about 7 to 9 other people there. All of the male patrons were blatantly staring at us ( likely my wife as they were all men) while we were chatting with the bartender. We recently stopped in for their 50 cent wing night, but discovered they'd increased the price to 80 cents a piece. Ah well, we ordered a couple rounds anyway as we'd been craving them as well as an appetizer platter and a couple drinks. We found the wings to be pretty dry, with the boneless wings quite small, though the sauces were flavored well. The appetizer platter was also a bit over done and bready, we wouldn't order that again. Overall, we were unimpressed by the food, especially given their prices. On the plus side, we both enjoyed our drinks and the atmosphere is open and clean, so while we could see ourselves coming back for drinks and a game, this would not be high on our food destinations in the neighborhood. read more

After being ignored at another restaurant, we happened on this restaurant and I am so glad we did! We were greeted enthusiastically by the manager, Shari. She has extremely awesome customer service. After we ordered, I was reading the reviews on here and was afraid our food would be gross, according to the reviews. However, our burgers were so big, juicy, and full of flavor that I'm glad, once again, that we stopped here. Those burgers are awesome! They don't skimp on the meat, making the burger gigantic. It was delicious! Our server, Jalee, is also super great! She always checked on us and made sure that we were doing ok. The area we sat in was very spacious and bright because there are giant windows and a patio deck next to us. Beautiful view of the city. Shari explained that they do a buffet for every broncos game for 13.99, which includes wings and ribs. We will be bringing friends back for that! read more

We have come to Jay's off and on for a number of years. It's not exactly next door to Golden but we keep coming back every so often, so there is something that draws us. Hmm ... It's not the dining room or ambiance - those are fine - simple, diner-like, usually clean - fine. It's not the view - they sorta/kinda have a view to the east, but it's also sorta/kinda industrial. The view is fine. It's not the service - that can be variable but isn't usually dreadful and is generally pretty good to good enough - fine. It isn't the menu - Jay's is basically Chili's or Applebee's that is locally owned and isn't a chain. Separate bar and dining room. Burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, wings, entrees - bar food - large menu with lots of choices - fine. It isn't the food quality, although the food quality is really pretty good. I often have the Buffalo Chicken Salad and that's always good. The burgers are also good. The food quality is fine. In most ways Jay's is the prototypic Yelp three star establishment - A-OK in the parlance of Yelp, and there's nothing wrong with being predictably A-OK. Especially when you're locally owned and not mind-numbingly similar to every other Chili's, Applebee's, etc, under the sun. Oh, yeah - now I remember why we find our way to Jay's every so often - surprise - Fish and Chips! The Fish and Chips at Jay's are really good. Of course, GB Fish and Chips are the best. Clancy's are also really good. But it can be hard to get into GB and Clancy's, and getting a table at Jay's isn't usually a problem. Bottom line, Jay's is fine pretty much across the board. Except the Fish and Chips which are "finer" than fine. Not enough "finer" to elevate the solidly A-OK three star rating to four. But definitely enough to entice me from Golden when I'm hankering for good Fish and Chips and want to know that I can get a table. read more

Stopped by for a beer and food. Meet some friends. Food was good. Whomever is running the kitchen is doing a great job. Staff/waitress, not so much. She was rude for no reason, inattentive for as dead as the place was. If she was having a off day, then take it off. Example: we sat down, she came by asked "what do you want to drink", no hi, no friendliness. We then replied " do you have a list?". Her exact answer was, " you can scan this QR code". And left. So we scanned it...no drink list. She comes back by and is like , so what do you want to drink, we mention the online QR option has no list. She replies "well yeah, it doesn't ". Like WTF are you listening at all to the fact we originally asked for a drink list and you navigate us there only to know it doesn't exist. Clearly didn't want to be there. They seemed to have plenty of staff around, maybe send her home next time. Way to long of a review, bottom line, food good, staff killed the experience. if all you want is some domestic beers and a place to get together with friends, its a great place, like 4 stars (service can be a lil slow or else id say 5). if you want consistently good food this probably isnt the place, sometimes its great but sometimes its horrible. i think the kitchen staff is doing their best the problem comes from the quality of the food, alot of it is frozen, its too bad because they have this massive menu with so much good stuff on it but theres only a few things out of all that, that im willing to order. the breakfast is pretty terrible, the mexican food is so bad especially for the area. the burgers, apps, and sandwiches are the only things i order. i wish this place would sell to someone who would run it a little better, up the quality of the food and hire a decent amnt of service staff. they seem short-staffed even when theres 5 people in there. can you imagine if 200 people walked in and took every table, the bar and the porch? it would take a year to get your food or a drink. i dont hate this place at all, i actually love it,its the perfect neighborhood bar and grille, i just wish it would live up to its potential. best porch/view of any restaurant around here read more

It took an hour to get our food and the cook messed up our order, took 45 mins to just get our drinks... the place was not even half full. The food was mediocre. We didnt ate what we got cause it took so long. We talked to the manager about our service he was supposed to take some off the bill and didn't. Our waiter was absolutely amazing he was clearly frustrated that things weren't going right anywhere in the restaurant. The manager acted like it was no big deal and laughed off our complaints basically right in front of us. I've been here several times and have had the same experience. We have been here numerous times, as my in-laws like the restaurant. As for me, I can take it or leave it. The food is good, nothing to brag about. Service is good, not very fast. This restaurant can be crowded, as "regulars," like my in-laws, like the place. I have been there for two Easter buffets, lots of food, but again, nothing fancy. There is a private parking lot, and it's free. The interior has been updated, but I feel it could use more. It definitely feels like a "neighborhood" place, and as I said, "regulars" definitely keep the place going. There is a large bar in the back, with plenty of tvs to watch your favorite sports team. The menu is good, something for everyone. Maybe I've been here too many times with my in-laws, as it's just ok. Would I choose to go here on my own, no, most likely not. The prices are good, recently raised, but I can't blame them for that. The interior is warm, and comfy, feels like an old family friend. Browns, blacks, blues, and white color hues. Mainly booths, and some tables, with the bar area in the back. All in all, comfy, and your standard "neighborhood" place to talk over your day. read more

We just had the biscuits and gravy and eggs benedict delivered through DoorDash. I was impressed with their packaging - separate cups for the gravy, hollandaise, and poached eggs. That kept the food warm and prevented the bread from getting soggy. The food was very good as well. Gravy was just spicy enough and the eggs were poached well. Holy Hillbilly................the Service was HORRIBLE and the food even worse. We spent $27 on food that should have been $1 I felt as though we had walked into one of those hillbilly movies, where your food is set down in front of you and you're like is this a joke or a nightmare...I can't tell...not kidding. I don't know how anyone can screw up a salad but they are one of the easiest things in the entire world to make...I ordered the wedge which is literally the easiest "salad" to prep. First my bacon was old, super rubbery and nasty...I had to take it off it was really upsetting my tummy. My lettuce was old as well and the dressing was absolutely disgusting...blue cheese crumbles were also old. My sweet potato tots were actually halfway decent and edible, but the bowl they came in was the same size bowl I used to give to my son when he was 2...it held 8 tiny tots not the big fluffy regular adult sized tots, and for this toddler bowl I was charged $4!!!!!!! What a terrible place. I went in tonight for dinner. The server was rude and unfriendly, and never checked once on me after dropping my food on the table. Then,I was done and trying to someone's attention to get a check. She finally came over, I told her I wanted my check, and then she went away for 5-10 minutes and din't come back as I finally wandered the restaurant trying to find a manager or other server in an empty place. She finally found me at the bar telling the bartender "I've been trying to pay for my food for 15 minutes. Do you WANT me to walk out without paying"?, and shoved my check in my hand . Then, on the way out I was upset and I asked to speak to the manager, and one of the employees told me "get the hell out of here now before we call the cops"! This is a neighborhood place I'd been going into recently, but not only am I never setting foot in there again, I'm recommending against anyone going to such a rude, nasty place where when a customer is dissatisfied, the answer is to threaten to call the police! read more

This place was recently purchased by Great Scotts Eatery, I believe, and this has made all the difference in the world. Jay's is very close to my house, so I would often go there for dinner if I didn't feel like cooking; and their Sunday brunch is a great deal. Now that ownership has changed, I gotta say this is one of my favorite places to eat in my area. The food has improved; and the service remains friendly and warm. I don't hang out in the lounge, but it looks as if it's friendly enough and they always seem to have great drink specials. Very happy that someplace this close to my house has such good food! While the people working here seemed to try real hard there seemed to be a lack of training and the food was not that great. I was the first to arrive in my group and when I arrived the host asked me if he could get me a table. I told him i was waiting for the other people in my group and I took a seat to wait. While I was waiting 2 more people came up to me and asked if I needed to be seated while the host was still standing there. It was getting a little annoying after the third time. Apparently they do not trust the host to do his job. After being seated I started to look at the menu and it sent up red flags immediately. They obviously were trying to have something for everyone. There was greek, italian, mexican, and american on the menu. It never turns out well when someone tries to do that much. It wasn't different in this case. I ordered the carnitas chimichanga. When it arrived it actually looked fairly good. The looks were deceiving. The refried beans seemed like they were a little old or out of a can. The rice was overcooked and very mushy. Those were at least edible. The pork carnitas however I stopped eating after 2 bites. It was either a very bad cut of pork or it was old. Probably one of the worse carnitas I have ever had. It was not seasoned and really did not have any spices at all. It was just a cheap cut of plain cooked pork. It also did not smell that appetizing. I left about 3/4 of the food on my plate untouched. When someone came to take away the food they did not inquire at all about why I barely touched it. On the positive side the waitress was very nice, courteous, and attentive. My definition of three Stars. Not anything anything to go out of your way for, but definitely wouldn't hesitate to drop back in if I was in the area and hungry. The service was attentive and friendly...heck I even got a smile and a wink! All of the bar type food was cooked right and we noted that the chicken breast on our grilled chicken Sandwich was actually grilled! I had a big problem with a simple order of a couple of burgers I was charged with 3 times, refunded and charged again...in the end the manager "Sally" (if thats even her name...she's weird) ends up charging us $40.19 after agreeing to just give us a couple burgers and call it even, before that she was totally at a loss as to how to handle a refund, I guess..hard to say what her problem was.... long story and after phone calls and going in their I can't stand the aggravation and feel totally ripped off. Jay's, what happened to you guys? You guys used to be my favorite breakfast place. I have not been back in several months because I have moved, but I was in the neighborhood today and thought we would come in for some much missed food. The food was terrible. Frozen potatoes? Still cold when served. The cheeseburger that my daughter ordered was cold inside. She ordered a medium well and got it served cold. The bacon I had I swear was left over from a previous day, it was stiff and dry. The coffee was terrible. The hot chocolate is not how we are used to having it served. Even the employees all look depressed. Employees used to be happy here... that was one of our favorite parts about coming here, the experience. Now, I don't think I'll ever be back. Their prices are high for mediocre food. Service was terrible. There was only 2 other tables sat when we arrived and one left before we ate. We went out in the patio for a few minutes and our food was on the table when we got back and it was cold. We told our server we were stepping outside for a few minutes and thought it was rude for them to leave our food to get cold and not let is know our food was ready. Especially since they were very slow and the employees were just standing around talking or on their phones. I would understand it if they were really busy, but they weren't. Our server didn't check on us for 20 minutes after we got back inside to our table. We needed a couple condiments for our meal but by the time she checked on us we were already half way done eating our cold food. They should also let you know when you order that they will not give you to go boxes for the Friday Fish special. I absolutely hate wasting food and just letting food go to waste. Pretty good! This is the second time we were here. We started off with Jalapeño Bottle Caps, and the Skyline Sampler. Lots of fried food, but the batter was good. My favorite were the Jalapeño Bottle Caps. They were whole jalapeños that were battered and fried. Even though they weren't super spicy, they had good flavor. Hubby had the Italian Sandwich which was made with an Italian sausage patty instead of links and had green chilies on it instead of the typical peppers. It was pretty good! I had the Everything Melt that was grilled to perfection. The fries were ok, nothing special about them, but still good. Our waiter was sweet, polite, and attentive. I had been to this place before but I didn't really eat. I was just there with some friends so when we checked this place out I was skeptical but excited. I will agree that some of the people here it did seem to take a bit to get our food the portions were HUGE we had so much food. Everything was really good. We got the bottle caps and humus plate for apps and they were amazing! Then we got chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken. They were huge portions and really good. Great view, good service and delicious food. What more do you need. Clearly, from some earlier reviews, Jay's has undergone some changes (for the better). The food portion was sufficient and the flavor was just right. It's nice that the manager stops by the table to ensure your satisfaction. Not enough places do that, anymore. I found the establishment to be clean and nicely lit. Parking was ample but may get tight on busy nights. The burger Monday promotion is a good touch. The server was very friendly and made good recommendations. It's nice how the bar is mostly separate from the dining room. The restroom was bright and clean (always a bellwether for how the "show is run"). The noise level was comfortable, which is how I would best describe the whole experience. read more
