Calling people all over Roc and in the more rural areas, everyone either had no clue as to what was going on and was trying to sell me stuff, or they did not even want to take a look. Talking with the guy on the phone, he was immediately concerned about my situation and car and had me drop by so he could take a look. He did not have to, but he gave his time to take a OBD2 reading of my car and a visual inspection of it. He let me know the info I was given was false. Although, he did not have time to do a repair, he also advised that I should watch out for scamming mechanics and if I ever need a second opinion, to call him. He was super concerned and did not want to see me get taken advantage of by other mechanics and their shops. People like this don't exist in NY and it's amazing to see an honest person provide input and support!

His prices were fair and he answered all of my questions. I love how honest he is and how he called me to provide updates. He didn't have a part in store for my oil change and called me to provide me with the option to go elsewhere or wait until he could get a new part. I decided to wait because I trusted him. I had a service B performed on my Mercedes and asked that he also check my entire car to see if there was anything else that needed to be repaired. He later called me, found that my rear breaks were worn and provided me with a quote of the cost and I asked if he could replace them. On the day I picked up my car, Jerry was very friendly and took time to explain everything to me and even helped me replace my car license plates and put on my registration sticker. I highly recommend him if you're trying to find a diligent, honest and patient mechanic. I will continue to bring my car back to him and recommend him to my friends and family. I don't live in Rochester, but when I rolled into town wth my 15-year-old Subaru, the exhaust system (resonator and exhaust pipe) just fell apart. I could tell it was busted because suddenly my meager 2.6 liter engine sounded like it was revving for a Nascar race. I only had a day in Rochester to burn, so I set an appointment for 8am at the nearest Mavis which seemed to be the safest bet for getting a quick turnaround. When I arrived on the dot at 8am, they informed me they didn't have an exhaust mechanic and redirected me to Cole Muffler (also a Mavis branch) across town. When I got to Cole/Mavis, I was greeted by Tyler (? I think) and he let me know that they would inspect the car and let me know ASAP what needs to be done. After 20 minutes or so he escorted me to the car and pointed to the exact parts that were failing (rusted) and why they should be replaced. He gave me the option of letting the less rusted pipe stay. No upsell. I opted for the full replacement because it was time for this car (16 years old). He told me it would be 1.5-2 hours so I took a long walk. When I got back the car was in tip-top shape and the bill was less than I feared. They charged for parts plus $160 for labor. This included a new resonator and new exhaust pipe. Didn't need a new muffler. Total was about $650 including labor. I really appreciate this branch of Mavis/Cole for attending to the needs of my car in such a professional manner, and on the spot when I needed to have the car for other business in Rochester. This branch brings a positive vote of confidence for Mavis, even if it isn't on their main sign.

It was the only issue as on both may 18th and June 5th I got a code read and that was the only code that came up. I got it "fixed" at Cole muffler June 6th and the car was ready for me June 8th. I leave and immediately when I turn the AC on the car starts shaking. I went to go get it fixed and they quote me 500 dollars and they said that both me and two code readers just didn't notice this issue that they say has been here all along. They say a catalytic converter "technically" wouldn't cause an issue with the radiator fan, turns out although rare it can! Regional manager said a radiator fan wouldn't show up as a code and then once I said hey I googled it he pivots and said oh well it would if only blank happened. I told him hey I can show the code readings I did and he said he didn't want them. I had a lady on the customer service line say it's sort of expected that when u get work done that something might happen? This (in my opinion) made me wonder if that's what they do to get more work. If you're hoping the Mavis Discount Tire relations makes the work safe I would heavily warn you to not risk it. I habe a warranty for the catalytic converter fix that covered bad workmanship and steve told me he didn't know what he wanted me to do. Okay so I got it checked at another place and the issue could not have been here all along, so they were lying! Cole Muffler told me the issue was the radiator fan and in the two days that I left the car there, just to be told by Steve the issue was not his problem the radiator module got affected as well! A radiator fan is not something that you can just drive for months or even weeks and have your car be okay!

My exhaust was the first thing I've had done and I'm scheduled to get my struts and breaks fixed a little later! I just want to start off with how much they are working with me to get these things done. I'm not rich at all and if I had a stable job I would have loved to take them up on there offer with the credit options. But luckily, they know how to prioritize what needs fixing and scheduled me out for when I'll have the money to have those things fixed. Secondly, I want to point out how fast they got the job done! Julie had told me to bring it in so that they could diagnose the problem for me and that they could schedule me next week if I decided to get it fixed with them. Well, sure enough I bought it in on Friday morning, that same morning they were able to tell me what was wrong and the same day they ordered the parts and got it fixed! I literally got my car back at 3pm and genuinely did not expect that! I saw a sign in their shop and it said that they value their time, well I guess they also value everyone else's time too! I don't want to get into the free things that they did for me because I don't want anyone trying to come rip these lovely people off, but I do want to say the things that they did for me, that they had every right to charge me for, has let me know that I'm dealing with some really good people and has made this place my go-to spot! These are good hard working people who respects the customers that comes through their shop, no matter if you have a lot of money or not! The prices are absolutely doable and they don't pressure you if you can't do everything right then in there! Lastly, I just want to point out that I am a single black woman and the reason I bring up my race and gender is because we all know it matters, especially when it comes to mechanics! But Temstad didn't make me feel judged nor taking advantage of whatsoever! They were so welcoming and knowledgeable! Not only did they triple check my car but they explained every decision & priority to me. I really love that they weren't condescending because I don't know a thing about cars.
