The previous owners were good. The new owners are crooks. I brought my car in for a wheel alignment and they said it needed inner tie rods before they could do the alignment. I declined to let them have the work. I took the car home, inspected it and found that both inner tie rods were perfect. They lied to me to try to grab an extra five hundred dollars. I recently had a scary experience in which my steering wheel was rotating on its own while I was driving and it was making a noise. I was on my way home but decided to bring my car in to Vesa's as they were close by and I had heard good things about the shop from a friend. I walked in and told them I did not have an appointment but was scared to drive my car any further. I just wanted to leave it. Larry listen to the symptoms and watched the video I showed him of my gyrating steering wheel. He booked me and said it may have to stay a while as they were booked. However, the next day day I got a call saying they were looking at my car. Larry told me the issue and I was able to pick my car up the next day. Was it expensive? Yes, but I had to get both axels replaced as one fell apart completely in Vesa's parking lot as I pulled in and the other one was shot also. Larry showed me pictures of the broken axel and the other one with a tear and no oil. I was blessed that I made it to the shop right before it fell apart. I felt well taken care of and Larry was knowledgeable and friendly. I will return to them for maintenance in the future. read more

Wow. Where do I begin? My family has been using vesas for as long as I can remember- I'm 38 now. I live in NYC but my family still resides in the area. My brother passed away, suddenly, and I was forced to drive my car to Rochester without making an appointment for an inspection or brake change where I live downstate. My vehicle wasn't legal or safe to drive, so I knew I'd have to get it fixed before my return to nyc. I called them and was told they were booked out for at least a week (they really are the best, most honest mechanics in Rochester), so I was bummed. My mother said - "go in there and tell them what happened. Speak to Larry or Josh, and see if they can help". I walked in, shared the news, and they said "bring it in. Both my partner and I have started taking our vehicles to Vesa's after I had an absolutely terrible experience with my previous auto shop. Vesa's recently did an inspection and oil change for me, and I was so impressed and relieved by the way they presented information about my car plainly, while being realistic about what was coming down the road (pardon the pun) and what needed to be done that day. I needed a new tire to pass inspection, along with an alignment adjustment. When I was at Monro Muffler pre-pandemic, I think maybe January, they told me that I needed a full break replacement immediately and tried to condescend to me about why I didn't know what I was talking about when I walked away from doing that. Fast forward to October, and Vesa's let me know the break PADS had worn but were nothing urgent, and could definitely be put off. This honesty was so refreshing and appreciated and a sure way to keep a customer. They even quoted the work that would need to be done on the breaks in the future so I could plan. This is a reminder to SHOP LOCAL and support local businesses!! There's less sales pressure and I firmly believe that the people at Vesa's don't care about your gender or your knowledge of cars, they just want the people of Rochester driving away in a safe vehicle. I know we live in a country where most or all mechanics exploit their customers' ignorance to gouge them for profit but that doesn't mean we have to take it lying down. I made an appointment here knowing the issue with my car had to do with the windshield wiper transmission. When I brought it in they told me there was an animal nest under my hood (this was true, which is why they get 2 stars and not 1) and that they needed to replace the transmission, and that it would cost almost $700 ($425 of which was just for the part). I looked online to see what the part actually cost, as you do. I found I could get it in Webster for under $150. When I told Vesas this they said they don't use customer parts so I decided to take my business elsewhere. They called me back 5 minutes later agreeing to let me bring in my own part "as a favor" or something along those lines. At first I thought they were being nice but then I got suspicious. I looked up the work they were going to be doing and after one youtube tutorial realized I could do it myself with no special tools. And for the record I am not remotely good at this stuff. Anyway, I personally would rather get my hands dirty for half an hour and spend $150 than give $675 to people who are happy to exploit and deceive me to get it. So that's what I did. Feel free to make your own call. EDIT: they also told me they had taken out the broken part which was straight up not true. I'm not even sure they did more than pop the hood. My car was burning a lot of oil. Larry recommended changing the oil pan. The car was leaking oil everywhere after the replacement of the oil pan. The engine started making noise. The check engine light was on. He tow the Car back to his shop at his expense and said he fixed the issue. A couple weeks later, the car completely died. It was my first time there. My daughter attends the Eastman School of Music and has her car on campus from out of state. She was experiencing some issues with starting her car. After the battery was replaced by AAA, she still was having issues starting her car. She took the car to Vesa's and they did an complete check up of it and literally found nothing to fix. They could have been dishonest and said it was a starter issue or alternator or anything else.... But instead they were honest and charged us a very minimal fee for their time for doing a thorough check of the car.
