I started using Scottys as a reliable Auto shop to take my car to. The first couple years (2017-2019) were good. Quick response & timely service. Recently I've taken my car there, with an appointment I made last week, still driving my car for a week with a Check Engine Light on and the ABS Brake light on. I dropped my car off on Tuesday night so that they could work on it bright band early. I had to wait almost an entire day to hear back from them, in addition to waiting up until they Close at night to get my car in my possession again. Scottys called me around noon today with an estimate for repairs and literally I had to call them at 8:30pm to check on my car. I picked my car up after 9:00pm tonight. I'm not sure what has happened in the past couple years but I find this unacceptable service practice. :-( read more

I have never felt that i was told i needed service i did not require and all the repairs i have received have been excellent. When you find an honest, competent mechanic you have hit the jackot. FANTASTIC!!! My 2016 Beetle was throwing codes for a while and would sometimes shake pretty bad when accelerated over 45mph. My regular garage who I have always trusted didn't look into what the codes meant and told me they didn't know. Finally, I went to Scotty's even though they were booked solid for the next 10 days. Paulie said he would just run the codes and see what they said. He quickly told me it was unsafe to drive. He really dug in and diagnosed the problems which were electrical. It was done within 24 hours. My car has been back on the road for over a week and running like a dream. Thank you so much Paulie for caring enough to keep a new customer safe and for being curious and tenacious until you figured it out. My family has been going exclusively to Scotty's for YEARS and we have a tendency to have a lot of car trouble. They are always so nice, timely, fairly priced, and really great at explaining what the problem is. As a college student, I always stop in with the car before any long road trips or before driving to school for the semester. They always ensure I'd be safe on my trip and rarely charge me when there is a minor issue. Just today I had an issue with some concerning service lights going on and off. Without an appointment I stopped in, one of the guys took a look immediately, even drove the car around the neighborhood to make sure everything was safe and didn't charge me a dime. This shop was a blessing for me to find. I had just moved to the area a while ago and had to find a new shop for my car. The guys here are so friendly, honest, and easy to talk to as far as telling them exactly what you need, and them explaining to you what is going on with your car. They don't try to up sell you. Once they start knowing your car and your driving habbits/history, they pretty much can tell you what you are going to need (and even not need) for future maintenance. Even when they found out I was getting a new (used) car (my 14 y.o car finally kicked the bucket), they offered right away to have me bring in the car to have them look at it before I officially purchased it to make sure I was getting a good car. I love these guys! They were recommended by someone I had one date w/ from online personals...that didn't work out but Scotty's and I have been together ever since! They diagnosed a problem with my 96 Camry that the last mechanic kept fishing around for (my last straw with the past mechanic is when they denied scratching the paint on the car- which was not there at time of drop-off.) Another mechanic tried to swindle me out of doing extra work on the car that was not needed. - Scotty's is my hero! Scotty's generally has a good turn-around time and because I only worked a couple miles from them were able to drop me off at work. They have worked on three of my cars and did work for a friend with great results. They are honest and dependable. Their costs are competitive with other area mechanics- a little pricey- but worth every penny. I have never had a job done by them that needed later repairs. They will work with you to help you understand the breakdown of costs. It's a good feeling when you can call up and the person on the other end of the line knows who you are! My last (and final car for awhile) is brand new but I prefer having them do the oil changes. They are certified to work on several different brands of cars. Love em! read more

I stopped at Scotty's for a engine noise that had me worried the engine was shot. Only to find out less than 2 hours after I dropped it off that it was only a bad belt. Had them fix it and got a short list of other things that should be looked at. Took my 1998 Silverado back for a major repair they suggested (was the second mechanic that suggested it) and they did a great job at a very fair price for a second time. Will be finishing their suggested repairs in a few weeks. These folks are great, don't suggest anything unnecessary and well within local price ranges. They have me for as long as I live in Rochester! read more

I want to give 5 stars but feel I can't. I took my car there for an oil change because I was advised that if I did, they'd thaw out the ice that froze the driver side door shut overnight in their garage. When I went to pick it up I was advised that there was a labor charge for thawing it out and 'fixing the fender'. After discussion they removed the charge because it wasn't mentioned at all before. Really great bunch of guys, just need to practice being up front with service and expected costs. I would've parked it in a friends garage had I known. read more

Some of the worst customer service/work ever. My family takes their cars there because it's conveniently close however this is the last time we'll be doing that. For starters I took my car to get inspected and tires put on. They only put the tires on and then tried to blame me for not saying the car needed to be inspected as well. Took my other vehicle there for an inspection and 2 days later my left front wheel fell off. Was hesitant on taking a third vehicle there but did because it needed brakes. They had the car for 3 days and I heard nothing back even though I told them it need to be done asap when they asked. I called and they told me they're having trouble finding parts and that it's going to be over 1000. Not to mention the first time I called to ask about it they hung up on me and then left me on hold for about 10 mins the second time I called. Oh and they killed my battery and "couldn't figure out how to open the hood" to jump it. read more
