I was referred here by my barber and I gotta say, this place does not disappoint! I went on a Sunday morning and the service provided was amazing. I cannot recall the name of the person who helped but I remember her telling me her dad is the owner and she was so so kind and helpful. The plant selection is very nice, you can find indoor and outdoor plants and some Rare finds! I found a super cool and unique cactus that swirls around and I cannot wait for it to grow! The prices are very affordable and reasonable, I get plants from grocery stores whenever I see something I like, but this place really does give you a plant for your buck! This plant store is the best. They have a huge selection. It's family owned so they give you great service. The prices are so low that you almost can't believe it. To give you an idea, I bought a string of bananas for either $15 or & 22 ant it trails about 5 feet (or more). Parking can be tricky as it's all metered. I always find a spot and I bring a cart in my trunk to haul my load of plants to my car. Go there! You'll thank yourself! read more

I'm going to start with the pros then go in with the cons. Pros: - The shop has a wide array of options and is very affordable. - The plants are in great condition Cons: - Street parking only - The lady that was working while I was there spoke little English but enough to answer the typical plant questions - *THIS IS THE BIG ONE* I was lied to. I asked which ones are pet friendly and she told me all of them besides two (which she pointed out to me) and this was wrong. I looked up plants she specifically told me were okay and they were actually, wait for it.... poisonous to cats! Which I have. Not only that, but I asked her if the plants I was interested in required a lot of direct sunlight/were high maintenance (because I was a new plant mom) she said no, but again, that was a lie. 2/3 of the plants I got ended up dying. Keep in mind that I did do my research beforehand and although they did have a lot of options, they didn't have any of the plants I wanted besides the pothos. I'd be back again if they hired someone who's bilingual and honest, it felt like she just wanted me to buy something. read more

I love Jays plants! The epitome of "bonito, bueno, y barato!" I just moved into a new apartment and needed some new plant babies to brighten up the space. I cannot believe I found this gorgeous Thai Con Monstera!! For only $80!! My new rubber tree looks great and my snow queen pothos got upgraded to a bigger pot already! I will never buy my plants anywhere other than Jay's! I've gotten a few plants before from Home Depot and Lowe's for triple the price that I've had to nurse back to health. Jay's has an incredible selection of wholesale priced and healthy HEALTHY plants ready for a loving home. I got a monstera here that has tripled in size since I got it 5 months ago. I also got some sanseviera laurentii snake plants that have been growing up a storm and popping out new pups frequently. I feel comfortable purchasing my plants here because I know these plants are treated very well and I will happily spend all my money at this family-owned business. The one downside is the location close to skid row. Definitely bring a friend and stay aware of your surroundings coming to and from the shop. I've noticed a growing population of people experiencing homelessness near the shop since the pandemic and at times I feel like it is not a safe area. Other than that, highly highly highly recommend Jay's! I can't wait to come back soon to build my plant family even more. read more

She stood outside talking to an older gentleman while I shopped. Store is decently sized, as it goes back decently far enough. You find a variety of plants, ranging in size. They're well priced but not labeled, so you have to put your big girl pants on and ask. I spent about 80 with the purchase of 12 plants. I suggest bringing cash, even though she accepts card. Wouldn't want to go to any other place in DTLA for plants. My roommate and I went over the weekend to get some plants to spruce up our new apartment. We went in with the idea that we would probably buy 2-4 plants. However, a combination of beautiful plants and absolutely amazing staff that were both extremely knowledgeable and friendly led to us leaving with 8 plants for the wonderful price of $50 dollars. Unfortunately as soon as I walked in I walked right out, I went in browsing and after no one asked if I needed help I walked up to one of the lady's and asked if they had a plant I was looking for she didn't even wait for me to finish my sentence when she rudely says " whatever you see is what we have and I don't know which plant your referring too " I believe it's a daughter and mom ?? Healthy plants at a great price. This has become our go-to plant place during the quarantine. Every time my friend and I stop by, we have a very pleasant experience with the staff. All the plants that we've gotten here have been thriving so we've been propagating like crazy and giving them away to our friends. I think it's important to remember that we are in a pandemic right now with a highly contagious virus, so I don't blame the staff if they want to keep their distance from their customers. It's also important to remember that a lot of these places are small business owners and they most likely have to stay open to support their family so if they're not providing you with over the top service and "getting to know you", cut them some slack. So, this is my new place in LA to buy plants. There is plenty of free parking associated with the building, which is a godsend considering this is basically downtown LA. They have such a large selection of big healthy plants and I swear there is nowhere less expensive in LA to get your fiddle leaf ficus, i swear (I'm mouthing the words "ten dollars" at you). Please stop by and just dump all your money here, you will not regret the amazing deals you can get on these incredible plants. I got a five and a half foot tall rubber tree plant for less than $40, and if that's not grand theft botany, I don't know what is. I checked out and right as I was about to leave I realized they also had a bunch of string of hearts plants, and told myself I need to cut myself off, that they would still be here the next time I stop by. Found a parking spot couple stores down at a meter. Area is a bit shady but it's downtown LA , just use caution. There's a paid parking lot that looks very secure adjacent to the store. The store itself is brimming with beautiful healthy plants, a pleasing wide variety. My wife was shocked at the prices. The older couple that run it are pleasant and helpful. prices aren't posted but just ask. Parking: Street parking. Pay attention to the hours posted on the sign. The flower market area is relatively safe but don't park too far from the market area. The staff are very friendly and the prices are very fair. They have a lot of leafy indoor house plants and a large selection of succulents. They do not carry anything exotic and they have very limited outdoor plants that require full sunlight. But if you are looking for a couple of green plants to spruce up your room, this is definitely a good place to check out. read more
