****This is long, but I believe it's a valuable lesson learned for anyone searching for movers.*** I'd like to write up a review on my recent move from VA to FL. I made some major missteps I'd like to help future movers avoid. The majority of it can be traced back to the fact that I'm cheap, and you typically get what you pay for (Moving Broker vs. Reputable Company). When searching for a mover, I started out getting quotes primarily from google. I had no idea what to expect, but the initial sticker shock had me reeling. I was moving a 4b/2.5 bath house approximately 800 miles. The first quote I received was from Bold Moving and Storage. Their booker/estimater (Carlos) set up a zoom call with me, and went through the entire house. This took about an hour. He annotated everything we had to move, and eventually told us we had about 1700 "cubes" (cubic feet) of goods to ship. The total for this (military discount, etc) had me a bit shocked. I was probably out of touch with reality. Things you should consider are "full pack" vs "you pack". With as many kids as we have, and a job that takes me away from home, a "full pack" was almost a necessity. I continued to search for a price that would satisfy my cheap self. Eventually, I spoke with a company in South Florida. I did a 20 minute phone call with their booker, and by the end, he had given me a price approximately $2,500 cheaper than Bold Moving. I was pumped. I dropped the deposit on the spot (big mistake). Over the following days after dropping the deposit with the broker, I saw that Carlos had been trying to contact me, but I felt guilty for going with another company, so I dodged him a bit...kind of put Bold Moving on the back burner. Eventually I picked up the phone, and told Carlos what I had done. He was adamant that I should try to put the brakes on the broker. He painted a picture for me of all the perils that might be in store for me, should I go ahead with the broker. I tried to assure him that my broker sounded legit, and I was in touch with the actual driver who would be doing the move, etc. Carlos remained engaged with me, and even helped me to do research on the company. Through this research, we uncovered a lot of signals that the move may not go as smooth as I thought with this broker. (At this point, I had already dropped about $1,500 deposit with them). They were driving a rental truck (26' with no overhang (300 ft3 difference in size). When the movers walked in (dressed in sweats and tshirts), they looked around, sat down, and started quoting me a price that was almost double my original quote. They started talking about driving my things to a warehouse, trans-loading to different trucks, etc. They were giving me all kinds of excuses as to why they would need to double my price. At that point, I put the brakes on their operation. I called the broker, and asked him what would happen if I walked away from the situation. The broker told me that I would lose my deposit, but owe nothing else. At this point, I was happy to do that, and I sent the movers on their way (very unhappy). I called Bold Moving, and laid out the situation to them. I worked with the management to arrange in effect a rescue mission after my broker situation. The Bold Moving management scheduled a date with me, and gave me the assurance of a quality operation. At this point, I felt as if a weight had lifted from my shoulders. Fast forward a week (which was the earliest date we could get with Bold Moving). A truck showed up on time, (with its company name on the side, and the overhang (extra 300 ft3). There were four employees assigned to the pack up, and they all wore their company shirts, etc. It was obvious from the start that things were more professional at Bold Moving. Tony, Mike, Terry, and Will did an amazing job over the next 10-12 hours. They had their niche, with one doing an amazing tetris job in the back of the truck, ensuring no wasted space. One was doing runs from the house, back and forth with all the packed goods, and two were packing up room by room, disassembling furniture, etc. By the time they were done with the house, it was completely empty. Tony told me that he would be the one driving our household the 900 miles, and that he would be the one to unpack as well. To me, it was reassuring that one person would be with my possessions from start to finish, reducing the worry or room for shenanigans. He also told me that he was ready to drive straight through the next day. There are lots of horror stories about household goods taking weeks to arrive. We started our moving process by searching many companies and options. Once we spoke with Josh at Bold Moving & Storage, we knew we found the company we wanted to work with. He was very informative and knowledgeable of what our needs were going to be. We signed up for the full packing package and it was everything we were told it would be. Oneil and G showed up the morning of the move, prompt, polite and professional. They walked the house with my wife and I going over each room of what was to be packed and labeled appropriately to make unpacking as easy as possible. These 2 gentlemen worked all day and we never touched an item. The care shown in their packaging was very impressive, we felt like they treated each item as if it was their own. This is the 1st step in our move and we can't wait for Oneil and G to deliver and set everything back up when our new home is ready. Let me start off by saying I was extremely stressed about my upcoming move from Virginia to Georgia. I was nervous about having strangers move my furniture. This moving company is HORRIBLE..! They portray themselves as a High End moving company when in reality it's their second year in business and they still do not have a clue on how to operate like the real professionals and will show up in a rental truck to load your belongings . I cannot believe how desperate the gentleman I spoke with "Joshua" was, he was non stop badgering me to book with him. I was extremely turned off by his high pressure sales tactics and honestly think a lot of their reviews are fixed "fake". From David and Dorothy Bear We have not moved in over 28 years, and so had a large accumulation of "stuff". The crew, consisting of O'neil, Terry, Ace, Ty and George, showed up on time, and O'neil was the man in charge. He went through the house and set up the move, and everybody worked well together, and they handled our belongings with care and respect. They took 5 hours to load the truck, and did a very thorough job of it. It was a pleasure to see Ace and Terry here in NC to do the unloading. They accomplished in 5 hours what took 5 guys to load, and again, we were impressed with their attention to detail, and the care of our stuff. They both deserve a big fat raise. read more

Having so many moving companies calling about our relocation, we had a tough decision to make.Bold Moving and Storage stood out as a company that seems to care about the customer. Having scheduled the time and date the moving crew showed up on time. Leo, Demetrius, and the rest of the crew were respectful of our possession and us. I spoke with Josh (the owner) about an estimate for moving out of state. He was very nice, thorough, detailed about the steps and walked me through everything over FaceTime. I told him I was only looking to have a company move us because I couldn't find a 26ft truck available to rent myself during the time I needed he took the time to help me find one even if it meant possibly not getting my business. We had a crazy positive experience during COVID!! Bill was awesome from the jump and Rob and his crew did an INCREDIBLE job of wrapping and loading my belongings. There's no way I thought it would all fit in the 1 truck but it did! No wall marks to cover up from pick up or drop off, no property damaged, and great positive attitudes throughout.
