I never started taking out the braids. This is 10 days later. My hair is to the middle of my back. The back braids she connected together so it was three braids. He even braided them together so she basically did my weave with three braids and charge $325 in the three braids that she had connected in the back together were not even tight or anything they were loose. This review is LOOOOOONNNNNG overdue!!! This bad review is mainly about the stylist Bree goes by LacedByBree on Instagram. My stylist moved out of state. I was lurking and stumbled upon Bree on IG, land of the fake lifestyle, photoshop, scammers and hype jobs. She was fine with communications when I booked a consult. She was a little late but nothing crazy. I was measured for my very first wig, left a deposit and made the appt for the following two weeks. Had the appointment and she DOESN'T wash and corn row your hair -_- I never knew this. Thank God for one of the other stylists. After that, I was ready for my install. The first time went well and my hair was stunning. At that time I didn't realize her process of securing your wig was half ass. Again I was a newbie at that time so I was green AF!!!! That unit and install total was a cool grand. I even had her do a burgundy purple unit (900 dollars)and she was barely dying it when I got there ! Overall came out nice. Once I started booking maintenance everything went downhill. Her lack of being on time and excuses, it was ALWAYS something!!!! She knew I was coming from Irvine!!!I don't grow up in Black salons and I know this is a stereotype but she fits the 3-6hr sitting on your ass waiting! The last straw, I had a 2pm scheduled. I was there at 12pm with another stylist to prep and braid my hair. I texted her letting he know I was already there. She responds saying she smashed her hand so badly that she was bleeding through some of her acrylics, so she'll be moving slow. Lord did I not know how bad this was going to be. I found LacedbyBree on Instagram where she states she's a "Celebrity Wig Designer" and "The Best in Los Angeles" both statements are extremely misleading. I recently secured her services (May 2021) and based on Instagram page I thought I was going to receive services from a professional, one that takes pride in their craft, and a top notch hair stylist...I most definitely did not!!! She's rude, dismissive, and arrogant. This is my experience with her. She did a sub-par job...extremely shoddy. I gave her every opportunity to rectify the situation, but she did not. I must say there was a couple of red flags in the beginning, but I overlooked them because I know life happens. She was like 30 minutes late to the consultation, she did not give me a written receipt - she sent me a text of balances owed after I gave her $300 deposit on a custom wig. The install date she was an hour late and she didn't apologize. I know these millennials are different, so I just chalked it up...I was at home. Once the install was done, I asked her why the hair was so dark and not the caramel brown color I selected, mind you, the color was from her Instagram page. She replied, it just looks like that in the house, it will show lighter in the sun. I thought that didn't sound right, but I just went with it, because I'm not a professional hair stylist and because I was rushing to get ready to fly out of state for a family members funeral. The next day, the entire back had lifted and you could see the lace all in the front and it was not laying down in the front. Let's not forget I paid her a separate charge to color my supposedly custom wig. I didn't really sleep that night, because I was preparing for my trip and I had to be at LAX at 5:30am. I noticed that she did not bleached the knots as she said was part of the service. It was real obvious the next day in the light. She measured my head for the custom wig, but it's too big...it covers my entire neck. I reached out to her the very next day and she acted like I did something wrong, saying you didn't wrap it right, because she told me to fold a scarf like band and tie it around my parameter and that will help lay it down some more. She just all kind of FOUL. - My color should have been right the day of - My wig should have been completely laid down before you left - My knots should have been bleached - My custom wig should have fitted perfectly to my head - There is no way my hair should have looked the way it looked the very next day I told her I wanted a full lace wig so I can wear it all back and in a ponytail. She gave me a "Backyard Boogie" wig install I paid you $1,000 for a used wig, way too big for my head, not the agreed upon color, no bleached knots. She took my money and did not provide the services that I paid her for. Don't fall for the Hype ~ she doesn't take pride in her work or should I say she didn't with me. I was extremely disappointed with her services!!! Her way of handling customer service was to stop responding to my text messages. I asked her the very next day for a date and time for her to rectify the situation...she never provided a date and I asked her three separate times over a 3-day timeframe. I think she's the type that doesn't certain people hair well and put she can get over on, she just throws some shit together. I went to the hair shop to get my very first hair cut by Erica. She was highly requested by a few friends of mines and I really like the pictures she posted on her Instagram. Because i wanted a pixie cut, I had to book a consultation according to her website. I was fine with that and booked for 9:30am. I got there on time and I walked in and asked for her and was told she hadn't arrived yet. I then checked my phone to see she messaged me on Instagram she was running behind. So I end up waiting on her for an hour, just to be seen for 5 minutes and sent on my way. I should of known better then but I said she came highly recommended so go for it and she was really nice. The day comes for me to get my hair cut, I get there again on time, 9:30am and when I walked in she was there but she was still doing a weave in another clients hair. I waited 2 hours for her to finish her other clients hair. So now it's 11:30 and she started my hair, she ask me before she started for my inspiration photos again then proceeded to start cutting. She told me that for the color I wanted she would have to bleach my hair and because of that she would leave the perm in for long. Yes, she permed and bleach my hair same day. Then walks in her 12:30 Appointment. So now all I got was a wash and I'm sitting under the dryer and she is taking the weave out of her next client. I sat there for so long even her fellow stylist ask where she go. Now it's 1:30 and it turns out she left and went to get Rally's. Then she starts my color. I asked for an Auburn, burnt orange color. My hair was so damn bright I was almost blonde, I told her I wanted it darker and she puts an orange on it literally a shade higher from what I said. Mind you I showed her the color BEFORE she started. Now here comes her 2:30 appointment. So no there's three of us and she's literally trying to do all of our hair at the same time. Now I asked for a big bang and she then cut all my damn hair off. She cut one sideburn, left the other one. She asked me straight or curly but at this point it didn't matter my hair was a disaster, so I said curls. Needless to say cause I'm sure you got the picture, my hair was a damn mess and i didn't walk out of there until 4:30pm. 7 hours in the shop to be over cut, over processed, over it! I even said I looked crazy well I was in the shop in front of her. Then I went home to make dinner and the entire hairstyle sweated out. $300 wasted! I had reached out to another braider, but they didn't communicate in a timely manner. We were going on a cruise and I needed my daughter's hair braided. It took the other braider weeks to respond. As time drew near for our cruise, I got nervous thinking that the braider might not come through because they never answered my question about how much hair I needed two weeks earlier. I drove past Dare To Be Noticed (DTBN) and decided to give them a call. Tashanay responded quickly, answered all my questions, and provided me a link to make an appointment. We got booked days before the cruise, I cancelled the other appointment; then they responded immediately with "okay". When we got to DTBN, the atmosphere was very friendly. There was seating and I was able to wait while my daughter got her hair braided. I explained to Tashanay that my daughter was on the spectrum, so she took her right away and was very gentle. We were in and out in a couple of hours. My daughter loved her hair. DTBN and Tashanay saved our cruise and made me and my daughter happy and soon to be returning customers. I typically hate going to the hair salon because there has always been a constant in my life: 1. I break my neck to arrive on time/or early to still have to wait an indeterminable amount of time to be seen. 2. I always go home to restyle my hair rather that looks like me pinning it up to a different side or creating a whole new style all together (I'm particular about these things). These constants don't detour me from booking appointments though, I'm fairly used to it by now and accept it as inevitable but I would have to say the end results I received at Dare to Be Notice was something I've never experienced.... My experience is as followed Results: I wanted a Flexi Rod set with my sides braided up to make a faux-hawk or just designed nice if I wanted to wear my hair up. The flexi rod set wasn't 100 percent dry and didn't have much of a hold for my texture hair so in the morning (after I slept with it in a pineapple with a scarf and I used a shower cap) my hair was frizzy and not really defined. It looked like an oily twist out with no bounce. I couldn't really pin it into the Mohawk because it was so greasy so put it up and noticed the braids on the side were poorly designed. Very kidish and resembled something you would get if you were bout to get tracks glued in or sewn in....Over all it wasn't a sustainable hairstyle and didn't last past the night she did it. I got it done Wednesday thinking by Saturday my flexirod set would be bouncy and fluffy like the ones I accomplish but it was just really greasy, flat and not really want I imagined. Time: Arrived at 5:51pm on a Wednesday and left at 11:27pm. It took me and hour and 13 mins to get there from my job in Westwood and took me 31 mins to get home at night back to Woodland Hills. So about 7 hours of my life devoted to a hair style that literally lasted a day... Money: Well it wasn't unreasonable but for the amount of time this hairstyle lasted it was completely not worth it. I was charged extra for the braids (about 110 for the entire style) and was not happy with the results. Customer Service: Dei was my stylist and she was great personality wise. Everyone in the shop is friendly and the conversations were hilarious which made the time go by. I did call Dei the day after to try and tell her my dissatisfaction but ended up leaving a message about how I didn't really like the braids and the flexirod set didn't really last. Wasn't looking for money or for her to redo the style but a recognition of my dissatisfaction would have been nice. I wouldn't return as it was just too much time, distance, and money for a style that literally lasted my drive home. Plus my fiancé hated it (and he usually loves all my quirky styles). I came in to get my hair dyed, and was told to reach out to Nadia by a coworker. I don't get my hair coloured often and my last colour was 8 months ago so I have pretty significant roots. For some reason, Nadia didn't dye my roots, which I didn't notice until the end because I could see she was covering my entire strands with the dye. When I saw the roots weren't done she said she "should have checked in first". I don't know why the assumption wasn't that I would want my whole hair dyed. I foolishly felt bad for her and figured I would deal with it. After sleeping on it, I still felt bad with my 8-month old roots and texted her to see if she could fix it. She accepted although she told me she would charge me again, albeit a little bit less, which I found a little distasteful since it meant paying twice for a single service. However the fix didn't happen either as Nadia ended up ghosting me. Serves me right for not requesting a fix then and there. -- 3/26 After seeing my review on Yelp, Nadia reached out and pretended she had me booked for an appointment (the last text we had exchanged was me asking when she was available). I told her I wasn't comfortable being charged twice for her mistake, and she 1) lied by saying she was only charging for products used (she had said she would "only charge for partial highlights"), then consented to bringing the price down (half of 125, which she claimed is 75... she was determined to get me to pay more), and 2) she doubled down on not taking responsibility by claiming that having roots out is "a technique and a trend called ombré) as if I'm a moron and 3) ghosted again when despite it all, I figured I'd eat the BS additional cost. I was especially nervous about having just anyone cut my hair into bangs but she did her thang. She explained everything she was planning on doing to my hair before she did it which gained my trust. She asked for money up front and canceled at the last minute. She was so rude and nasty, I thought she lied about not having a sitter. I was then serviced at the salon by a woman named MiMi. She was pleasant up until I shared I was engaged to a white man. She then said You should just wear a wig and take it off? If I wanted to do that I would not be at Dare to Be Noticed for a 7 hour service! Firstly, let me start off by saying I am an utmost citizen; child of God, go to church every Sunday, Millennial~ completed my Master degree in a very notable profession, no kids out of marriage and definitely being an obiendent child of God! Perfection! I recently made the life changing decision to cut all of my long straight hair off, and wear it short and curly. I mean boy short. So I met with Marlon at Dare to Be Noticed for a consultation, and left feeling relieved and excited. He really took the time to discuss all of my options and in the end, we agreed on the ideal cut. That Friday I chopped it all off, and I haven't looked back since. Granted, it was only last week, but still.... The cut is amazing, and extremely versatile. I have heard so many horror stories of people getting terrible haircuts, so for this to be my first cut I'm so happy to have found a great stylist. I will only go to him to from this point on. He charged me significantly less than all the other shops I called, and he's great with his hands (the wash and condition felt like a spa treatment). Ok, let's start off with customer service. the customer service is beyond great b Silas are all amazing and are always nice and professional ( To the extent that a family environment shop can get ) everyone is willing to help you and no one is willing to jip you. The stylists love what they do and love helping people retrieved the look they want. Alright , next I will move on to pricing. The price to be noticed is not the cheapest there is which is why this review has gotten 4 stars instead of 5. They're not that bad, however when I paid $20 to have my ends clipped, that's where have to take a step back. I would love to come here every two weeks but I just can't afford to have my hair styled and washed twice a month for $100. Next, I'll move on to the ease of making an appointment. I use the website that they provided and it's beyond easy; it tells you the price of what you want and when the stylist of your choice is available for that service. It makes things a lot less stressful. And last but not least the quality of my hair style. I have never left disappointed, feeling at a loss, or having buyers remorse. Zoe hooked my man up with braids on the spot. She took him with no appointment and was very pleasant. The shop is beautiful on the outside and inside. Marlon is freakin AMAZING. I have been going to Marlon for years and he has given me color perfection and has styled my hair both straight and curly. I love going to DTBN because all of the people are cool and I am always pleased with the result. Confession: I just stepped out yesterday to try to go to another salon that specializes in a certain type of curly hair treatment process, and I left feeling disappointed about having spent a good portion of my rent money on "meh." (I wrote a review about it). For whatever reason, I was thinking, "Well, Marlon doesn't "specialize" in natural hair, so I'm going to try something else." Mistake. Marlon hooks me up, consistently, and I was trippin'. I mean, he *teaches* other stylists how to cut. What was I thinking? Then I realized that on top of the fact that I have been getting great service and quality for over 10 years, I have not taken the time to write a review. So, there you have it. I had my first but not last appointment with Marlon on Saturday. I received so many compliments on the excellent cut and style. Same thing on Sunday and today. Hi Marlon, Thanks for reaching out as it is greatly appreciated. Regarding your question on how you can ease my concern is by refunding the $120 I paid to get my hair done. The black dye you put on the sides of my hair made my hair break off and fall out and the wet set was not done properly because my hair looked as if I wet it and let it curl naturally. I literally could not tell I had a wet set at all. As I mentioned, I get a wet set to put heat on my hair and to keep it as natural as possible. Furthermore, I am not sure why you put black dye on my hair when my natural hair color is dark brown. I then had to go lighter to even out the orange you put in my hair. As I mentioned when I came to your salon, I usually go to Ouidad where they specialize in natural hair so to have this many treatments on my hair has my hair breaking and falling out and I am balding at my hairline and on the sides where you put this black dye when I had a head full of hair and never had this issue so now I am taking collagen to try to get my hair to grow back. If you look at the before picture, you can see where my hair is thinner there by that orange crap. As mentioned, I ended up spending $600 just to fix this and had to have two treatments because my colorist could not get this cheap black dye out of my hair who can attest to how challenging it was fixing this as she kept asking what did he put in your hair!!!! I had no clue what to tell her because I trusted you and if you couldn't have done what I asked I would have respected that more. You also mentioned you didn't know there was an issue.. But why would I come back to you when you destroyed my hair? What can you do when a stylist that insists he has 25+ years of experience does this to your hair. I just wish you would have been honest. You asking if they had classes at Ouidad should have been a red flag. Nevertheless, I appreciate you trying to make this right and the only way at this point is mailing me a refund because I had to pay more than triple to get what was done by you to fix it. I work in the area and after reading the yelp review I decided to give it a try. My appointment was with Sultanyah and she slayed my haircut! I showed her a picture of what I was looking for and she talked me through all the steps. She asked me questions throughout to make sure we were communicating clearly about exactly what I was looking for. The whole time she was so excited about her work that it made me super excited about the outcome. She did not disappoint! The shop could not be more relaxing either. All the stylists are super chill and welcoming. The music is great and the vibe is chill. I will definitely be returning! read more

This review is is not directed at the salon itself but my experience with one of the stylists. I went to the salon's "natural hair only" stylist for a braid up a couple months back and the appointment went fine with the exception of her asking that I come in at 8:30 in order to start her 10:00 client on time. I agreed and arrived at 8:30 but waited about thirty minutes while she worked on another client. While that was confusing it wasn't a deal breaker. I was patient. The wash blow dry and braid went fine. I paid her with tip, and left. The actual braid she installed was satisfactory enough for me want to return when it was time. Fast forward, I tried to make an appointment with the stylist again. I didn't expect a problem, I called her on the phone, asked if I could schedule, she said she was on the way to the shop and would get back to me. She never got back that day so I followed up with a text. No reply. I wanted to get a braid done again soon so I made a final attempt to reach her on the salon phone. She answered and seemed to have no legit explanation to offer, so I was clear that I needed to move on. Maybe she was booked and busy for the summer, or maybe something else. Whatever it was, I just expected better. However it all worked out, I found someone else to do the service, so all is well. read more
