I needed a handyman really fast. My tenant basically broke the disposal and I wasn't sure if it needed replacing or not. I contacted JC and he said he would go the next day and take a look at it. We agreed on a price in case it needed to be replaced but he was able to unjam it. He showed the tenant how to unjam it and gave him a wrench. JC said he was going to be at my home to take a "look at the project" that I already sent him pictures to. I have no idea why you would come unprepared to do a couple hour job and not be ready to complete the work. He showed up doesn't come to the door calls once and text once saying I am only going to wait 5 minutes. I didn't have my phone on me for that 5 minutes. When i responded 7 1/2 minutes later JC said " sorry I already left and I cant come back" When I asked about the next day which is Friday he said he was busy and busy all next week. Then i received a better quote from someone who was professional, called me by my name & promised to do the job and show up on time for almost half the cost. I received another email from him calling me "Boss" again and the price went up when I asked if he could do it without breaking the stucco!!! Now the price increased to "$80 AND UP " . JC has been out to my place twice now. He responded to all of my messages right away. He was punctual with a positive attitude and friendly demeanor. He followed Covid guidelines the entire time, so I always felt safe and comfortable. Very professional! He hung up some curtain rods and a print in my bedroom, fixed the front screen door that wasn't closing properly, repaired the bottom of my kitchen cabinet and the drywall under the sink, and installed a waste pullout system unit. I called him over to repair a door whose hinges had ripped out of the door frame. I also asked him to repair a crawl space cover under my house. He actually repaired the door frame and also created a custom cover for the crawl space in under two hours, and at a cheap price. Was polite and very focused on getting the job done. After he finished the job, he made recommendations on other small things that could be addressed down the line. I called JC because I needed a door frame repaired. I sent him a message and he responded right away. I sent him pics and he gave me a fair price to fix. I then gave him a date but was busy that day so we decided on another day. The day came and he was right on time 9:30am. He then looked at the situation and went to work. He had all his tools ready to go and started the job. He left to pick up a few things at the hardware store and came back in a jiffy. Since it was a door frame he needed molding and other pieces that he didn't have. After about a few hours he was able to fix the door frame as well as install new door knobs. Yelp, DO NOT remove my review or place my review in the "Reviews that are not Recommended" Section. This review is honestly based on my experience in hiring this "handyman". I am legit, and have been a Yelp member for almost 10 years. I also own a business and am on the other end of yelp reviews as well. If you place my reviews in the other section or remove my reviews, I will be canceling my Yelp account and steering my network of people away from using Yelp. I know what I know, and its honest. Move along, move along... This is not the handyman you are looking for. Stay far away from this guy. In a word, DISHONEST. In another word, Unreliable. I could not recommend hiring JC Handyman for any of your handyman needs. I hired JC to install a wall bed in one of my bedrooms. He quoted me a price over the phone before arriving, so I agreed to hire him. Once he got here and looked at the job, he raised his price quote. Then, after reading through the manual, he raised his quote once again. Then, after an hour or so, he told me that he could not finish the job that day and that he would need to come back with an additional person the following morning to help assemble and install the wall bed. The next morning, I get a text from JC stating that he could not complete the job because he has "shoulder pain" and " maybe next time, Boss". Pure definition of incompetence and poor business ethics. I cannot, in good faith, recommend this guy for any services based on my experience with hiring him. After receiving his text, I told him that this is not how business should be done and asked him where his integrity and honor was. I also informed him that I would be giving him a negative, 1-star review on Yelp. At that point, he texted me back couple other times stating that he has a right to refuse business to me. I subsequently blocked his phone number so as not to receive any more text messages from him. At that point, It was harassment in my eyes. If HONESTY is something you value when doing business, then look elsewhere. JC Handyman is not the answer. If JC would have just been honest with me from the start, it would have solved everything and he probably would not have bailed on the job after an hour because I never would have hired him in the first place. Save yourself the time, headache, stress, and harassment and go with a different handyman. You'll thank me for it. Update on Friday, May 20th: We hired Jon D. of Quality Property Services in Norwalk. He arrived on time, worked efficiently, and was able to assemble and install the wall bed without any issue whatsoever. It took him and his son 4 hours total to complete the job. He can do many things from broken doors, windows, painting, small plumbing issues, lights, keys, etc. He will let you know if he cannot do something unlike other dishonest handymen. Paid this guy $60.00 bucks to put on a Hinge on my bathroom door. Went outside to talk on the phone. He comes out tell me the job is done and charges $60. When I came upstairs to inspect the job I found that he had shaved part of my door off and left it looking like a giant eyesore. I will never use this guy again because of what I am forced to see now. Furthermore if the door needed to be shaved to actually be close after replacing the hinge I would think that one would put the door as it was when you found it. Before he came my door was hole and looking like a door with no shaved eyesore. JC replied to my message within a few hours, came as soon as I said it was convenient. He communicated clearly what needed to be done, and some challenges that might make his estimate grow (and by how much). He estimated my jobs one by one, and let me pick and choose.
