Staff at the Altamonte Mall store are not very helpful including the GM James. I was refused checkout in the jewelry department by a cashier named Dean who I was told was also a part of leadership. I filed a complaint by calling customer service. I gave the store number to the customer service rep as well as the name of the cashier. James told corporate during follow up that I had given a different name other than Dean. I went by the store to follow up and get Dean's name. He sarcastically asked me if I really wanted him to look at the schedule from the date of my visit to get the correct name. He did so reluctantly and asked me to avoid contacting corporate. I guess he does not want them to know how horrible the staff is including the himself, the GM. I advised him that I have been spending money there on a regular basis, lots of it. He seemed reluctant to care. read more

Staff is horrible. There was an Indian lady who worked in the women's clothing area as a cashier and she double charged my card and just stuffed my clothes into the bag and said next. No greeting or thank you. I told the manager and he never did anything about it. I went with my mother one time too and was so embarrassed with that one cashier. Periodic sales and deals can be found throughout the store, so I'm very hesitant to pay full price for anything here. The staff is the usual mix of persons fixing stacks of clothing or ringing up people at a cashier kiosk. Some greet you, others walk by you. No biggie either way. They'll stop if you ask for help. This is a fairly standard department store. They have your usual sections including both women's & men's clothes, shoes, hand bags, make up, jewelry, and housewares. We generally come here when we have coupons or they're having a big sale. They have a big & tall section which I appreciate since hubs is a big guy. I've had luck a few times finding really great deals on shoes that also turned out to be both stylish and comfy. There is a Sephora in this location. They also have their own salon and a photo department where you can get professional photos taken. It's in the Altamonte mall. I'm not much of a mall person but it's fairly easy just to get to the store entrance from the parking lot without having to walk through the mall since they have several. read more

It has been a long time sense i have shopped at JCPenney but i came here today for there door busters and there really good sale items, lots of 50-80% off and lots and lots of items on sale like pants for work down from $35.00 to $17.99 and i bought a pair of shoes from $50.00 to $27.00 bucks over all i spent $85.00 bucks and saved nearly $100.00 dollars no lie i bought lots of things and saved a lot but what i amazed me more was how good there costumer service was not only were all there staff extremely friendly and courteous and made sure you left happy. The store was very clean and kept well with no merchandise on the floor and plenty of room to walk around plus there was plenty of parking spots when i got there and the staff was great. After you make your purchase they give you the receipt were you can do a survey and you get to print out a 15% off coupon to use next time witch is great and comes in handy sense they do have a lot of sales every weekend. JCPenney is well known retailer all over the USA and offers some great merchandise for everyone such as Kids clothe,Adults clothe and merchandise(shoes),house decorations,perfumes, jewlery. You can find a lot to choose from at JCPenney , great deals and great door busters, and they are available very frequently. NOTE: Make sure to come early in the morning for the deals and door busters because they will be gone quick and most door buster sales only last till 1pm. Decent selection, great prices on suits. There was a very nice lady named Rosemary that was beyond helpful and kind. I never asked for assistance but she went way out of her way to grab shoes for me and to help me with my outfit. She was patient in showing me what was on sale and the best way to go about purchasing all I needed. JCP was held up as one of those "turnaround" stories about mid-year, when Ron Johnson of Apple Store fame tried to come in and transplant his magic. Things didn't look good for a couple of quarters there, after he misread THIS consumer segment, and might have done things to hurt the brand instead of help. Jury's still out on the store's long-term viability after major surgery, but my one experience with them back in November was quite positive. I'd STUPIDLY dropped my keys on the way in. Almost every staff member I talked to was sympathetic and helpful to a fault. I was saying to myself, "Did EVERYONE just come from customer training or something?" Now they didn't find my keys; that's because I dropped them in the parking lot, and someone turned it into MALL security instead, whom I didn't check until after 2 anxious hours of frantic searches. I'm writing this review for JCPenney's photo studio. I was lured in with an online deal of $11/sheet and wanted to get some shots of our new baby. Going to a chain studio may not get as nice of photos as an independent photographer but they are less expensive and easy to get in for an appointment. I was pretty impressed with JCPenneys. The photographers were very nice and patient. When the baby got fussy after only 5 minutes (and one of two outfits I'd brought) the photographer suggested I comeback early the next day. She even met me before the store opened to "squeeze me in" to a fully booked day. We got another 5 minutes out of baby but did get some really cute shots. I wanted the disc with all the shots, which was ridiculously expensive ($150!) so got their "media" package. I signed up for their photo club too which, with a new baby, I'm sure I'll get my use out of. read more

I needed some new clothes to wear to an upcoming wedding. Having recently lost 36 lbs. I had to try on several combinations of suit jackets and slack. i was fortunate enough to meet Rosemary, a JC Penney associate. She helped me search for the right combination and made sure the fit was great. The customer service that I received was rare in this day and age. A truly lovely woman, Rosemary gave me the attention that I needed and made sure that I took advantage of the great savings that were available to me. I haven't shopped in JCP in years but after their support for equal rights I decided to check out their stores again. The altamonte store in particular wad a nice surprise. I remember walking through the store a couple of years back and seeing the mess it had with clothes everywhere. I also remember the old store smell...eugh. But now I see a new store with lots of friendly customer service reps. A really nice lady helped me in the home department and this other lady helped me in the sephora mini-store. Even though this post is a month overdue, I can't express how pleasantly surprised I was on Black Friday when I received INCREDIBLE service from some of the sales associates at this store - ON BLACK FRIDAY. You know that day when stores are crammed full, customers are plentiful, children are running rampant through stores, store associates have frazzled nerves and hair - yes, it was on this day that a couple of sales associates at JC Penney in the Altamonte Mall went above and beyond for a pair of jeans. While other shoppers are before the break of dawn to shop for loved ones, I wake up before the sun to shop for me. And it was on this sale crazy day that I ventured into JC Penney's for a pair of jeans. After multiple failed attempts at finding the right pair, I finally stumbled across the perfect pair - with one minor flaw - the were 1 size too big. Coming out of the dressing room, I asked a sales associate if they had any in a smaller size. She not only sifted through what seemed like hundreds of pairs tossed casually aside outside of the dressing room, she grabbed one of the scanner guns and scanned the pair to see if the store had any remaining in the size I wanted. They had one pair. But it could be anywhere in the store. In a hopeful attempt to find the possible remaining pair, I went to multiple other dressing rooms where the sales associates again sifted through all the pairs at the dressing room. While I never did find that one lone pair of jeans, I was impressed at the effort the sales associates were willing to go through for one pair of jeans and on Black Friday no less. read more

Today I was hit with a bait and switch and when I went to management over it, I have never been more disgusted or disappointed in the response on the manager Deborah Reid. I was talked down to and basically called a liar and told over and over that, when there was no reason for me to lie. I am about ready to cut up my card and pay off what I bought earlier in the week because of the constant poor customer service of the management. Most of the sales people go out of their way for you, but Ms. Reid and her management team won't. Years ago this was our favorite store. Now they crammed the isles with racks of merchandise and other items you don't expect. Isles are crowded, departments are messy and littered and the lines at the few cashiers are lengthy. The men's department has shrunk and men's shoes are almost non existent. There are too many other quality stores in this area to continue shopping at Penney's. read more

If i could give zero stars i truly would. I brought my children here for back to school hair cuts, I will never make that mistake again. To say the hair cut was horrible was the understatement of the year. We had to go get it fixed elsewhere. The woman who cut my sons hair was completely clueless, put a hard part up the middle of my child's head, there were patches left where she had shaved, didn't touch up the edges. It was a nightmare. I could see the worry in my kids face that his hair was ruined. I payed just so we could get out of there without a scene, but then had to take my little man over to Lady Jane's in Altamonte, thank God they were able to work some magic, and make this atrocious hair cut bearable while it grows in a little so they can fade and blend everything to make it look like a hair cut vs someone taking a weed whacker to his head. read more

JCPenney's portrait studio is normally a great place to go so I tried out their outdoor portraits. First of all I never got the call two days in advance from the photographer even though he said the words "I called you" doesn't mean he did. There was no message left. Once at the site the photographer was not prepared with any type of ideas for the photoshoot. I brought all of the props that I wanted and I had assumed we would be moving around the park a little bit because they advertised beautiful Azalea Park. All we got was a bunch of bad pictures taken at the meeting spot. Once I got the pictures back they were horrible! From the lighting to just the quality of the shot being blurry I could have done a better job with my phone. The glare from their flash was so bad that it just reflected off the clothing and made everything look like one blurred blob. I called JCPenney's to complain and request a refund on my sitting fee of $24.99 and someone was supposed to get back with me but they did not so I called again about my refund and finally someone called me back but let me know that the fee was non-refundable. I asked them if they had looked at the photos and they said no that they hadn't but that they would and get back with me. At this point no one has gotten back with me. I went to an amateur photographer and paid $125 for outside shots and not only did they come prepared with pose ideas they had actually went a little early to scan out the location to see where the best places would be to take the pictures and paid special attention to where the sun was and was very interested in having my daughter senior pictures turn out great . I guess you get what you pay for but I assumed being a reputable company such as JCPenney portraits I would get the same beautiful photos I get inside at their outside Studio . Since this is a new trial thing I would recommend that they don't go with the outdoor photos because so far they're failing . Their lack of creativity and and customer satisfaction is very disappointing. I would not recommend JCPenney outdoor portraits and might just never go to their indoor Studio again since they're more concerned about their $24.99 then they're repeat customers satisfaction. read more

My husband was in need of a suit for an upcoming wedding, so we went to JC Penney's at the Altamonte Mall after seeing a couple of suits on sale in the flyer. Needing assistance somewhat with fitting and advice, we asked one of the sales associates, Carlos, for help and he went out of his way to answer our needs, but not in a pushy way at all. The pant size needed were not in stock (and my anti-shopping husband was ready to call it quits) so he looked online at options for purchasing the suit and even came up with an even greater discount than we had planned.
