Worst store ever. I wish there was a way to give a no star. I bought a dryer pedestal but they won't install it because my dryer was not bought from them. My dryer was bought by my home warranty insurance so I had no control. Jcpenny never disclosed that they would not install the pedestal if my dryer was bought somewhere else. I paid $69.99 for them to drop off a box that I could have picked up myself from the store. The only reason why I had it deliver was so they can install it but they refused to install and refused to give me my money back. I am NEVER ever going to buy any appliances from JCPENNNY again. I advice you not to either. Customer service sucked. I spent 30 mins with the delivery company and got 2 reasons why they wouldn't install. First it was the dryer wasn't uninstalled. They can't install any appliance that was installed already. I said if I uninstall it, can they come back to install. Then they gave another why they won't install....oh "there isn't an installation line item on the order" was the 2nd reason they gave me why they wouldn't installation. I am pulling out my hair now because there weren't even an option for installation line item when I bought the pedestal online. That's not the worst, the JCPenny rep Michael who I spent 30 mins explaining the situation disconnected me and never called me back for a resolution. So I spent another 30 mins starting all over again with another rep name Deana and she couldn't do anything either. I spoke with the supervisor Christie and said I want my money back for the delivery because they did not install the pedestal and installation was the whole purpose of their delivery. The answer was NO. Now I am stuck with having to go hire someone to install it for me. That sale price they advertise is your sweat, pain, time wasted and frustration. Not worth it. I went last week for an exchange a pair of shoes I left my items on the counter with the receipt, later when I came back they lost my receipt and I spend more than 40 minutes on customer service trying to been help and they never help me ,they never exchange my pair of shoes they call the manager but she never went to the customer service to try to help me or look for my receipt, I asked to the manager to please check the cameras and they told me that they are not authorized to do that .I was very disappointed they lost my receipt they never exchange my items ,really poor customer service read more

Worst Sephora I've been to. They don't acknowledge anyone and it's frustrating. I was waiting for 40 minutes while the employee finished helping another customer, which I had no problem with. I'm usually very patient, especially if they're helping others that were there before me. Keep in mind I was the only other customer at the time, while I patiently waited, more customers arrived and the employee decided to help someone else who had just walked in. You can't say you don't remember who was there first when I was the only other person at the time. I usually don't shop here because of the same reason. I went to this location 2 days ago to make a return. I was going to return a watch that I ended up not giving to my secret santa. This purchased was made at the plaza Bonita location . I assumed , just like at any department store you are able to return at any location. Closes location to my home was chula vista. As my husband and I arrived, the ladies were somewhat busy , I figured they would take a while so I decided to go check out the store since they were doing to close like in 15 minutes . Shortly after , my husband calls me and tells me they didn't want to make the return since it wasn't purchased at that specific location . It was a rainy day , luckily we have a car I would have been even more upset if I would have taken public transportation on a rainy day during a pandemic , for them to say something like this .I never ever shop here , I gave it a try and will never return. The next day (yesterday) we went to the plaza Bonita location, great costumer service , no questions asked made my return within less than 5 minutes . Before leaving I asked them why the policy of only making the return at the store it was originally purchased. The lady kindly told me, that's not a policy you could return it at any location nearest to your home . Chula Vista needs to seriously step up their game , I heard JCpenney stores are closing , I'm not to sure it its true . You know I've always enjoyed going to JCPenney's. I have gone to JCPenney's my entire life and mostly this is where my mom would buy my school clothes growing up. Also Sears is where I'd get clothes as well. But this particular JCPenney's is horrible. The main problem I have is the customer service. To be clear, I never went here growing up. I just start using this particular store the last couple of years. Recently, I tried to get assistance to look at a watch here. I tried three times and three times I could not get any help. I flagged down another employee and asked how do I get help and she told me to ask one of the other employees. I went there a couple days later and again I could not get any help. Granted the woman behind the counter was assisting another customer but she refused to knowledge me. She would only look at me a couple times and then would say nothing. Instead of telling me to "hold on I'll be with you shortly", she just ignored me. I came back 30 minutes later after my wife and I were done shopping. The same lady was resizing a watch. Again she would not help me so finally I just left. I've had it with this JCPenney. They really need to retrain their employees in customer service relations. Just horrible. read more

I don't usually shop at JCPenney. I did however see a diamond cross pendant on their online store that I really liked and purchased for $140.00 (overpriced).while waiting for the merchandise to be delivered I noticed the pendant went on sale and was only $69.99 (a decent price). When the pendant arrived I immediately went to JCP to request a price adjustment. First I went to the returns department and was told only fine jewelry can help me. I went to the fine jewelry department and took a number and waited for my turn. All the women working in that department look and act as if they don't want to be there. Very bad vibes from all. When it's finally my turn a woman named Luz assisted me. She told me I can't receive a price adjustment. The only way I can get the pendant for the sale price is return the pendant then repurchase it. WHAT!! That is insane!! So resend it back through JCP online store and repurchase it! What customer service! I'm not shopping here again, ever! Not in store or online. So unhappy with my experience with this store. They don't deserve any stars. read more

The only issue with the store is they carter to large and extra large the most. Small was near to impossible to find and medium was a maybe maybe not thing. I had more of a problem with the customer service. They should really replace a certain manager that is currently giving the store a horrible name in my book. We had an issue with a coupon, that should hopefully be resolved by tomorrow, and before she even came over to us she was rudely saying "that coupon is already expired" in a snotty attitude over the walkie talkie. It expires in more than a week, so someone who already doesn't know her place of work. Now after she had to walk over, she still (with "Good thru December 24" written in bold) told us, on the 17th of December, that its still expired. While we are trying to calmly tell her how it is not expired, she tells us we are being hostile. We were indeed irritated, but not hostile in any way. And it definitely isn't professional to threaten customers with refusal of service when we were doing nothing but correcting her fake excuses to get us to leave. After we debunked her made up expiration date, now she's making up her own exclusions to the coupon. We felt insulted and majorly disrespected, walked out with nothing after 5 hours in the store. Not a single sorry from a manager who represents the store in the eyes of the average consumer. JCPenny is receiving a terrible name because they gave a manager position to a person who doesn't know her place of work, can't be apologetic to customers, makes up excuses to get them to leave, insults them, threatens them, and has a terrible attitude towards customers. In my opinion she should not be in such a high position when there are MANY employees on the floor who can be generous and honest to customers. read more

A few months ago I went into this JC Penny to purchase some business clothing. I was surprised at how large of a selection they had as well as extremely reasonable pricing. The staff was very friendly and even helped me pick a few things out. First of all, from a customer's point of view, I personally shopped here only once and only bought maybe two things at the most because almost everything is so expensive. Maybe sometimes you can find something cute in the clearance rack but meh, not my style with me being in my 20s. As a former employee, this place needs a lot of improvements with the treatment of their new entrants or younger ones. They expected us to know how to manage multiple systems within one month during probation period. And they encourage you to make sales quotas with signing people up for the JCP credit card which is extremely hard. The pay was pretty good, especially for a college student who needed extra cash, but in the long run, totally not worth it. read more

This is regarding Assoc: 0847 at the Sephora counter. Don't recall his name. While he was very entertaining & upbeat, in the end, I felt his customer service was insincere. Before he rang up my order, he asked if I wanted to open a JCPenney account. I said no, but after he rung up my order, I calculated that the 20% I could have saved if I had opened up an account would equal $16. I voiced this outloud and he jumped at the chance to have me open up an account and added that I would get the complimentary Sephora vinyl lunch bag. I agreed. After all was said and done though, he claims he FORGOT (conveniently, I'd say!) that the 20% discount does NOT apply towards Sephora product purchases. WTF! I wanted to cancel on the spot, but was told I had to do it myself. I ended up NOT using my JCPenney card. Consequently, I had to REMIND him to give me the vinyl Sephora lunchbag. Then he gives me a copy of the JCPenney credit card application brochure in SPANISH after we had a chit chat during the transaction that I did not speak Spanish. He guessed Tagalog and even said a few words in Tagalog. Needless to say, I left very unsatisfied and likely to never return. read more

I usually go to the Sephora at Otay Ranch, but I figured since I just needed to get a new beauty blender there was no reason to drive 20mins even though it's my favorite store. I walked into this store and grabbed my beauty blender (was not greeted or anything) then I was told in a snotty tone that it would be a few minutes before I was helped (she was going to be starting a make over) so I figured I'd look at different foundations and get a sample, after about 10 mins of still not being helped I went and stood at the counter, after another 5 mins the girl took a break from the make over to call for help (wow it took 15 mins of me standing around before she thought of that) then the girl that was called came to the register and was snotty, I asked if they had the beauty blender/cleaner combo and her response was "nope" she then went to put the foundation in a little container and I asked if she had a different type as I can never get all the product out of the other one and her response in a very bitchy tone was "no" then she made a little face. I then asked for her name and the other girls name as well as the managers name. I will be calling the manager tomorrow. 20 plus minutes wasted and all I got was attitude. This review is for the jewelry dept in jcpenney at the chula vista location. The only reason i come here is because it is the closest jcpenney to me. Every time i come to this dept the employees are rude and nasty for no reason. Most of the time there is only 1 employee and many customers waitng while the employee takes their sweet time i mean i literally feel like they go slower on purpose so that some people end up leaving. I always spend money here so its not like im just browsing around wasting their time. But today was the last straw. I went to purchase a gift for my mother in law and i was confused about the total so to make a long story short the employee raised her voice at me for no reason as i even told her i dont want to argue i just want to know why the price was coming out more than advertised. This location needs to restock their merchandise more often. I would have a hard time finding things here that makes me not want to shop here at all.
