well I have been a JCPenney shopper for years customer service is great never had a problem I always fine what I am looking for

FALSE ADVERTISING and POOR SERVICE continue to be an issue at the JCPenney in Davenport, FL. As a personal shopper working with multiple clients at a time, it's extremely frustrating to spend time selecting styles, colors, and sizes, only to find at checkout that the posted pricing is incorrect. This has happened repeatedly, which is why I've reduced how often I shop here. Just yesterday, I saw a sign advertising $9.99 and "buy one, get one." Because of past issues, I took a photo of the sign before going to the register. As expected, the shirts did not ring up as advertised. When I showed the photo, I was told the sign did not mean buy one, get one free, but rather buy one and get something from another department. However, when I asked what item was included from another department, I was told there was nothing. and that the "white sign" did not say buy one get one (see photo included). What's most concerning is that instead of taking responsibility for incorrect signage, the explanation shifted to blaming customers -- suggesting that shoppers sometimes change the signs, which I found hard to believe given the way the sign was positioned and displayed. It would require insider knowledge to flip it the way it was shown to me. That response feels dismissive and avoids accountability for what appears to be ongoing internal issues. Consistently incorrect signage, combined with defensive or dismissive responses when customers raise legitimate concerns, feels disrespectful of shoppers' time and patronage to the store. Sadly, I'm not the only one that encounters these problems as you can see from other reviewers. Clear pricing and professional customer service should be standard expectations. read more

Don't ever do business with this company. I ordered a dresser. I waited over 2 weeks for delivery. When it was delivered the delivery driver just wanted me to sign off on the item without opening the box. I said no way. Look at the picture. The dresser was destroyed. However, the box it was wrapped in had no damage whatsoever. And the JC Penny puts me through an argument in order to get a refund. NOT A WONDER WHY JC PENNY IS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS read more

This is the closest location to us and it tends to be somewhat unimpressive. We can always find something to buy as there is always so much on sale. Mostly we shop for items my child needs for school. On this particular visit as we wandered while they tried clothes on we came across a sale on beds and my oldest needs a new one. They were able to offer a competitive price and free shipping and had a mattress that they believe will benefit their sleeping ability. The employee while a bit timid was quite helpful once they realized I was serious about making the purchase. Employees throughout the store were wearing masks. read more

Rating: 4 stars, I generally find what I'm looking for, receive good service, and enjoy my shopping experience. I have been shopping here for quite a few years and my experiences have all been fairly positive. The employees are helpful and I have never experienced any member of the staff being rude or unhelpful, The store is clean and, typically, well organised. The washrooms are clean and, in my experience as someone who uses a manual wheelchair, fairly accessible. If I am using my wheelchair, I occasionally have some issues navigating certain parts of the store around the clothing, but it's never been anything too difficult to manage. All in all, I've liked shopping here and will continue to do so. read more

I get so mad every time I stop by this store. You want to know why? They NEVER have anything good and they are overly priced. The customer service is ok, they have a ton of checkout girls they will put the credit card on you but they will not tell you about any deals or any coupons they may have for the week. I have to remind myself they never have anything good to look at or buy. read more

Bailey in the hair salon is very good. I am a snowbird and was a bit nervous about going to someone new but I am grateful I found Bailey. She has done my hair a couple of times and she is just fabulous. I will only go to her now. read more

I'm giving this store 3 stars for the merchandise. However when I went into the fitting room to try on formal dresses, the floor was filthy. The dresses were getting dirty just by touching the floor. I didn't see any employees at all on the sales floor. Also the prices are high. I saw the same dresses in Macy's and even in Ross and the prices were way better. read more

I hate to say it and I wish it weren't so, but Davenport is sort of a shopping wasteland. We didn't have anything at all until a few years ago. Posner Park was a welcome development, but never took off the way The Loop did. JCPenney is really one of the only places to shop in Davenport, so if I need to grab something or don't feel like fighting I-4 traffic I come here. The pros- This JCPenney has a Sephora inside it so you can get some quality makeup and perfumes. The salon inside this store has some really good stylists who can cut/color your hair for pretty reasonable prices. JCP is always offering coupons for $10 off $25, or $10 off $10 so they have some really great deals. I got a pair of blue jeans for 87 cents one time. How can you beat that? It's a great place to get "the basics.". I have lots of plain t-shirts, black dress pants for work, and khakis from here The cons - They don't have wifi in the salon and the service in the building is awful, so don't expect to play on your phone will you get your hair done. The quality of the products is hit or miss. Some stuff is pretty nice. My Liz Claiborne stuff seems to stand the test of time pretty well, but I've had a few things from here fall apart pretty quickly. I don't buy St. John's Bay anymore. It seems every time I buy a t-shirt from them it has holes in it within a few wears. The main reason I give them so few stars is that there are never enough people at the register. There is always a line to check out and usually it is pretty long. Since there are usually coupons it takes longer for people to check out and it is not uncommon for one person to have multiple transactions. So, not only is there always a long line, but it is slow too. But, it is does have great deals and is only a few minutes from my house, so I shall continue to go. read more

This is the first time I have ever been in a JC Penny outside of a major mall! The store had some excellent deals, mainly due to the holidays. All of the staff that I encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. I'm happy that this location is not too far from my residence. My wife and I were able to pick up some clothes and toys for ourselves and to gift to others at really great prices. This will definitely not be my last time coming. read more

I've been in this store a few times and it's always clean, well-staffed and well run, with one exception. In May, I had returned an item I purchased online. The employee who helped me seemed newer but I had no reason to think he was not going to be able to return my item. At the end of my transaction, I was told the register was out of paper. He looked around and stepped away for a moment. When he returned, I informed that he was going to have to find someone to help him and it would be about 20 minutes. I declined to wait, which turned out to be a mistake. My own fault. I got my credit card statement, and the item was not credited back. I called the store and was told it can take a few weeks to process. I checked my account a few times, nothing. I contacted my credit card company who said that without the receipt, they could do nothing. It wasn't a large amount of money but it was frustrating nonetheless. Today I went in to grab something and while I was being helped by Darlene, who was very friendly and helpful, I asked to speak to a manager. I had already resigned myself to the fact that nothing could be done but I wanted to request that Customer Service employees be trained to change register tape and process refunds. I explained the story to the manager, Christina, who immediately said that losing $50 was unacceptable. Christina and Darlene got to work pulling up my order and issued a refund. I was so grateful and moved by their professionalism and prompt service. I will continue to shop at this store, knowing what wonderful and helpful staff they have. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with this store. I like some of their selection, but I feel like I'm in the middle of a car sale with all of their "sales". It starts to feel fake. I truly think they mark everything on "sale" when it's really not. My other problem is that you can get other extra discounts, but it all depends on the person that is at the register. Some offer up the "special" discount. While with others, you have to ask if they have any that day. Just this weekend, my girlfriend and I went shopping there. We checked out at different registers. Her sales associate gave her the discount, but mine didn't. ALWAYS ask when you check out! Also, check out at the main registers. We were told once that other registers in the store don't always have the "special" discount on hand to scan. I would like shopping here more if they didn't play all of the pricing games. I leave feeling annoyed when someone else leaves getting more offered to them. Every customer should leave feeling equal. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I made a hair appt on Monday for today and I said I wanted a fade on the sides. I was told they could do that but when I came in for my appt and showed them the style I wanted they said no one here does fades. Yet they told me they do fades. How do you claim to do men's hair cuts yet none of your stylists can do a basic men's hair cut? My entire schedule was pushed back for this appt now I wish I never made it in the first place. read more

GREAT prices and selections. The store was neat and well-organized making my shopping experience easier. The staff was very helpful in providing direction and answering my questions. The sales were amazing with an extra 20 percent off the clearance prices. The lines moved fast as there were at least five cashiers at the front registers. If you sign up to be a rewards member you get excellent coupons $10 off $10 or $10 off $25. There are very few exclusions on the coupons. This was a great experience and worth a return visit for more great shopping. read more

I know JC Penny's has been trying to revamp thire image. In bigger stores they have accomplished that, but this store.....not so much. It was Easter weekend and we stoped by looking for some last minute gifts. The sales were great, but store was sloppy. Not one associate asked us if we needed help. We had items in our hands so it was obvious we were shopping. As we were standing in line I was looking at the rows of cashiers. Looks like none of them gave a second look in the mirror before leaving the house for work. Appearance is everything when working with the public. Maybe management should lok into that. I had to repeat myself to the cashier numerous times. I was almost at the point of just walking out. Next time I will travel a little bit further for better customer service. read more

I have never been treated SO RUDELY in my life!!! I tried to return a defective shirt and the manager Jorge kept saying, "All this work for 8 dollars." Then I had to come back because he forgot to put the refund on the gift card and I had wished I threw the shirt out. He and the other employees were snickering at me and rolling their eyes. I can't describe how low these people made me feel. I used to love JC Penney, but now I will never feel comfortable going into the store again. I was humiliated, embarrassed and even started crying when I got to my car. I can't describe the embarrassment from a group of strangers laughing at me. read more

This store is really hit or miss but mostly a miss. I've been coming here for years and have the hardest time finding clothes I like here. Sometimes I will find two or three items and then most times I find nothing. I went in yesterday and fell in love with a shirt on the mannequin but couldn't find it anywhere! They are advertising clothes they don't even have anymore. When this store opened, they had so much product, I feel each time I go in there is less product and they've moved the women's department around so much I can never find anything. The employees at the register are never friendly, I asked them to price check once and the girl rolled her eyes and basically told me I was wrong. I really enjoyed it when her manager advised her I was right. Yesterday they were having an issue with their system so gift cards and debit cards weren't being accepted, except they don't tell you that until you go to pay with both. The only reason I have given this store 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the Sephora inside where everyone is super friendly and accommodating. They have tons of product and always have someone on hand to assist you. Before I got married I had them select the best makeup for me and I still use the same products years later. Unless you're stopping into Sephora, stay away. read more

I really don't know what happened to the store. It was a really nice store with a lot of helpful employees.. back in 2008. I went in there last week and it was like a ghost town, there were hardly any employees around to help you, the store has really gone downhill, I'm very disappointed. Im am so disappointed at the service at JCP salon at posner commmons. I been a costumer of JCP salon for years. I always had a great experience except for today. I booked my appointment online. They ask what service you want. I am not stylist, so I guessed to my the best of my knowledge. When I explained the stylist what I wanted she said that was Not what I booked. What I wanted was more time and more money. She could not do it. She suggested getting someone else. Someone else was available almost 2 hours later. I was not able to wait. This is why I booked my appointment. I asked what she could do to help me. She said all I can do is what you booked. And she added and I prefer not to do anything to you. So she was so rude, she never offered a solution, she even said she did not wanted to take care of me. I left, thinking a good stylist should be able to give options to the customer. Got my hair done in the salon by Preston. WOAH! Amazingly talented stylist, I felt like I was in new york. He cuts with such confidence and passion, my color is amazing, he did a wonderful job and made sure he made space for me in his full schedule so I can get a touch-up!!!
