So this just happened two hours ago. It took one hour to do a simple return. Less than 30 days ago I bought some jewlery at JC Penny at the Santa Anita mall. Today I went to JC Penny at Montebello to return the jewlery and the workers at the jewlery department told me that they could not do the return because the item was over $100. I asked to speak too the manager and waited 15 minutes. When the manager finally showed up she told me that she can not do the return because the commission that was made on selling the jewelry can not be taken back from the sale. I told her that I have never heard of such a policy and walked back to my car. I looked at the receipt and called the phone number to JC Penny at Santa Anita mall and spoke to someone at the jewlery department and told her everything that just happened at the Montebello location. The lady over the phone told me that she has never heard of any kind of policy that the Montebello location is telling me. The lady over the phone said that I should be able to return the jewlery because I bought it within the timeframe in order to return it. I asked the lady over the phone if she can talk to the manager at the Montebello location. Long story short...i had to walk back into the mall and ask to speak to the manager again. After waiting another 15 minutes the manager never showed up so the lady on the phone called the Montebello location and some how got them to do the return for me. I wasted a total of one hour doing a return when it should have taken less than 5 min. There were no long lines there were no shoppers who needed help at the jewlery department. So why did this happen to me? Was it because of my ethnicity? I don't know but that was some Bull $hit. Shame on you JC Penny for treating customers like this. I buy a lot of clothes from JC Penny like suits and shoes and dress shirts but now I don't every want to go back to JC Penny. read more

When i got to the register they told me they couldn't sell them to me they were liquidated items (then why are they still on the shelf). I am very upset with the service I received today in this store, I came in to purchase a gift. I grabbed a couple of polos from different brands and while in line I noticed some that were on a table on sale for 11.99 I got one of those as well, at checkout it came up as 27.99 and the associate stated those weren't the ones that were on sale, the table had one sign only and it was deceiving. I asked to speak to a manager, Keith came looking very unfriendly and had a horrible attitude when he told us that it was the wrong price. He didn't apologize or even look concerned he argued with me that the price wasn't deceiving and turned with an ugly attitude and walked away. I'm very upset and I will NOT be returning to this JC Penny. Get better managers cause your store is reflecting this negativity. read more

Ghetto appearance, escalator broken, fitting rooms trashed with graffiti on the seats. Cashier inadequately staffed; line is approximately 30 people deep. I'm waiting in line writing this review while surrounded by patrons all echoing, "The line is so long!" My girlfriend wanted to buy white leggings. She found a pair. We brought it to the cashier, only to be told that the item was a "liquidation" item that was returned because of some kind of defect. As a result, the cashier could not sell it to us. My question is, why do you have items that you can't sell on display in the sale section? Am I the only one questioning the logic of this bewildering situation? I'm driving from Covina. It's a pretty far drive. So I get to the store and no one is insight to help me with customer service. So when I finally find someone. She's pretty rude. I asked her about the shirts I was told they were in stock and show her my phone and she's like they are right there. Not the right shirts. Long story short this is poor customer service. If I could give the portraits studio 90 stars, I would. They have no idea how to talk to customers. The young lady who charged me got my order completely WRONG. I asked for 9 8x10s and ended up being charged for 3 8x10s and $75 digital download. Now that I'm trying to get a refund for the $75 they're saying they can't do it. I even called Jcpenny customer service 1(800)59SMILE and they were so RUDE!! I really couldn't believe it. One of the ladies who I spoke to told me it was my fault and she wasn't going to refund me. Another said she'd call me back in an hour and NEVER called me back. As far as the customer service goes they are shit. They will try to make you feel like you are the one who messed up when in reality it was them. So much hassle. Was just here today. I was looking for some dress shirts for work. Went to the men's dept and first worker I came across was Bree. She was friendly, helpful and very courteous. I was looking for specific items and being kind of a pain. Bree was patient and professional. She found the exact items I wanted and made my visit so smooth. When she rang up my items I was pleasantly surprised that they were on sale to boot. Bought 3 dress shirts for under $50 with the store promotions....mind you they were $50 each. Recieved a call from JCPenney that my order was ready to be picked up. Came right when it open (10:00 AM) and there was literally no one around to help. When an employee finally showed it, it took them another 1 and 30 minutes to find my package. They claimed whoever sorted it didn't place it in the correct spot. HORRIBLE AND RUDE EMPLOYEES. They need to hire a new staff or at least hire some more. By the time I left, there was a big line forming in the area where you pick up online orders (7+) and there was only one person getting the orders and then finding them in the storage room. If I knew it would take so long, I would go back there myself. NEVER picking up my online orders from this location and NEVER coming back here again. read more

Clothing selection is ok. Didn't have much of a jacket/winter coat selection either. Shopped all around the store. Went during the Christmas season where they were giving out free buttons to win prizes. That was fun, I won a few times. I purchased a diamond ring the day after Xmas. I got the ring sized and when I picked it up it was missing 2 diamonds. To make my long story short, it was sent back and forth a total of 3 times. On Tuesday I visited this location to pick up the ring I've been waiting for for 3 months, but guess what? it was damage AGAIN. I was offered to send it out again but I declined. Went to return a $200 ring I purchased a week ago, spoke with Jasmin the cashier who claimed to be the assistant manager, she said they couldn't refund the money because the manager wasn't there and it's their policy. I asked her for the store policy but she said she didn't have it or know but it was to her understanding that they couldn't refund money because it was to much money and needed manager approval. We waited for about an hour while they went back and forth with other employees and still said no to come back another day when the manager was at the store. This is the worst place to work if you're looking for a job where you just want to work once or twice, maybe three times a month then go ahead and apply here. Around the holidays if they hire you, you probably get more hours but after if they hire you for the company then it's barely any work that they'll give you. I don't understand why they hire new people if they can't even give their current employees hours to work. Most employees only get like four or four and a half hours for the day . They don't tell you none of this after they hire you they barely train you they're bad at it. They leave it to you to know what to do.
