Listen, don't sleep on JCPenny. I have had so much luck there when looking for specific items. A year or so ago I needed a dress. I went to many other stores in the mall and JCPenny was my last. JCPenny for the win. Then recently I needed another dress... JCP for the win again. For the last few months I have been looking for some black above the ankle boots. I went to so many stores. Some stores outside of the mall and others inside the mall. JCP was my last stop. Right as I walked into the women's shoe section, boom there they were. I literally said out loud, "You have to be kidding me. No way. " The boots were onsale 65% off, my size and pretty much what I was looking for. Pricing is always on point. I can find so many sales and good deals. Staff is helpful. No issues there. read more

The jc penny salon at Patrick Henry mall is not the best place to get your hair done. The times that I have been in there Sookie and Henry both dropped combs on the floor multiple times, then tried to use to the combs on my hair until I stopped them. Both very UNSANITARY...just nasty...and the toilet in the salon let's just say a port a potty. Both sookie and Henry did lousy hair jobs on me. Both gross. Another time sookie turned my chair away from the mirror to blow dry my hair, I turned around and saw other people's hair in wads in sookie s brush she was going to use on me, sookie said we use the same brush on all the customers. I had to buy a brush new for sucki to blow my hair. I am surprised people don't get diseases from the hair salon at Patrick Henry mall jc Penney s. This place has declined over the years read more

Visited store for a new dress. First stop was ladies rest room...it was so nasty - I chose to just wait - wet floors, odor, sinks had stains and discolored. Towel on basin were wet.... Next stop, women's clothing, clothing in floor and complete disarray. Tried on a few anyway...while trying on clothing - I could hear a man and woman talking in adjacent dressing room Next stop over near lingerie and found a couple dresses - dressing room in that section closed....went back to women's clothing and the were dragging a sign that closed that dressing room, it's was only 630 pm. I asked where to try on clothing and was told to go to men's depth. I am not a man and appalled at the response. The lady then said they are unisex...I told her "not for me" and laid my selections (5 items) on the display table and left the store. The sales lady just walked the other way. Next stop, called the store and listened to all the choices and selected operator (attempting to get to a mgr), it rang and finally said no-one is answering the operator line. Finding things is way difficult..not sure why they set it up the way they did...most staff was very friendly though... So that's always nice. Store was clean. Most things are way over priced though.. If I didn't have coupons ($10 off $10 or $10 off $25)(retailmenot) I most likely wouldn't shop there. read more

I returned a "cook" branded crock pot that cracked after putting it in the dish washer. I didn't have a receipt, but they took it back without any issues. The quality on their branded products is sub par, but at least their return policy is fair. read more

Newportnews j.c.penney is very nice, but the hampton store has much more selection.

I was not impressed when I came into this location for a shopping visit. My husband and I entered the store walking by multiple associates with no acknowledgement. Visibly I'm lost and no one comes up to ask if I want help. Finally I'm frustrated with trying to find the maternity clothing section, and I ask a passing by associate. Sadly they don't have a section in store, but they do online... I don't know about you, but online shopping for items I have never tried on is not appeasing to me... I will give the lady credit, she was helpful with information about ordering online and their return policy. But ultimately I left empty handed and disappointed in my once favorite store. read more

I just left the J C Penny store in Newport News Va located in Patrick Henry Mall. I shop there a lot because the employees are great and so are the prices. I have Type one Diabetes and do pretty good most of the time, but today while shopping in women's Dept. My blood sugar dropped suddenly to the point where I couldn't even Hardly respond. I could literally feel myself slipping into unconsciousness and I could have died right then and there without sugar. I asked for help and two employees jumped into action and got me a coke. I know one employees name was Jason, but I didn't get the young woman's name. I hope these employees are recognized and thanks guys for helping me because you literally saved my life! Very disappointed. Haven't been here for quite some time. The aisles were regularly blocked with display items. My wife uses a scooter - much narrower than a wheelchair. Could not access many of the areas she wanted to see (men's wear) and, when she could get in, couldn't get out!!! Check out very slow. Sookie(suki), the hairstylist needs to go back to training. Yesterday I called to verify my hair appointment with my stylist, just so happens sookie answered the phone. I told her I'm calling to verify my 7:00 appointment with my stylist and I gave her my name, she told me my stylist was off that day. Then I told her that doesn't make since, I made the appointment last week., she told me that my stylist worked Thursday but she was booked, but I could come in on Friday. So I made an appointment for Friday morning. So at 7:30 I get a call from my stylist asking? Are you still coming to get your hair done, I told her that sookie said you were off and she didn't see where I had an appointment and Friday was your next available opening. My stylist told me to come on and she will start my hair. So, as I finally got to my appointment, guess who I see! Sookie! My stylist told her she gave me the wrong information, not one time did sookie apologize for the big mistake she made. I decided to write this review and my next step is to call corporate. Hopefully she will learn from her mistake. read more
