Trying to purchase an Easter decor from a linen designer that has a 50% off the price of the items. The item I was looking to $24. When I went to purchase the lady tried to charge me $24. I informed her that it is on sale. She said yes in the near future, I said OK with the future. I went back to the table brought the sign. The lady goes oh... i'll have to check with my supervisor one moment while she's waiting for a supervisor to come. She looks up online online.. It's 1799. Once the supervisor arrives she says no this is not on sale. Not honoring either price. Not upset about closing my Card a month back. No long shopping at this store. read more

My parents were in need of kitchen appliances and decided to purchase a Samsang refrigerator and other appliances. The purchase at JCPenney in Peoria. The refrigerator was purchase on Jan 2nd and the delivery was schedule for Jan 10th because the refrigerator was coming from their distribution center located in the Chicagoland area. When it arrive the delivery guys could not get the refrigerator through the kitchen door, and made the suggestion to remove the entrance side panels. My Dad was willing to compile, however the delivery guys said that they could not wait and would be back after they took care of the rest of their delivers. My parents said no problem. The refrigerator was place in the living room, waiting on the return of the delivery guys. It has been 14 days and the refrigerator is still in the living room. My parents called and was told they would have to make another appointment for the installation, there also was an issue with the dishwasher, so it was recommended to bring out a replacement. The next available appointment Jan 17th. When the person arrived he replaced the dishwasher, once that was done my parents thought he was going to install the refrigerator. Guess what....he didn't have a work order for the refrigerator and because he didn't have a work order, he could not install. My mom has called the store and customer service to be told she was to call within 48 hours if there was an issue and it was my parents fault that they did not measure correctly. No one can override the 15% restocking fee, the Department Manager and Store Manager, not even the CEO Jill Soltau. Yes, my mom called to speak with the CEO, needless to say, she got transferred to Customer Service and given a case# T74558420. I would like for JCPenney to wave the restocking fee and give my parents back their money, so that they can patronize at a company that believes in taking care of their customers, like Home Depot, keep up the good job, Craig Menear, I know you are not too busy to take a phone call or read a letter from your customers. read more

I was pleasantly pleased with the sales offered at this store. I was most interested in finding a non-expensive romper and did find on for $12 - total deal! It was orange (which matches my skin tone perfectly!) and flowery! It fit me perfectly and there was no wait in the fitting room. I did not like however, the long waits at the cash registers and the other registers being closed. So I didn't have time to wait so I went to one of the jewelry registers - the lady was busy and could have said no but instead she took 3 minutes to finish what she was working on before she helped me. So there I was waiting again. I did like however the fact that they took my 15% off coupon from retail me not! Score! Romper = cute! Service = no go! read more

Growing up in Omaha, NE, my family received the catalog and shopped at Penney's all the time, so when I saw one in Peoria, I was pretty excited. (I've moved cross-country quite a bit and recently moved to Peoria.) But the service is not as I remember. This has been an ongoing issue from packages being delivered to East Peoria instead of my home in Peoria, not receiving packages and then arriving over a year late, handed the wrong package when picking up a delivered-to-store order, long lines to purchase or return, difficulty locating an open fitting room, and today I was denied a return. I was one day late for their 60-day return policy. OK. The item was clearly unworn, still in the bag with the receipt, and I asked about store credit. Having previously worked in retail, I asked for the manager, who repeated what the saleswoman said, "The system won't let me." What is the point of having a manager if she doesn't have more accessibility than the sales team? I suspect this is a lie. If I had been given store credit or the return, I would have probably spent that amount and more purchasing more of the items I liked. The receipt was obviously for five items, and I wanted to return one. It's bad business. It's just not worth shopping here, and there are plenty of other options online and a few brick-and-motor stores with equal prices, quality, and better service. Good luck, Penney's. read more

Horrible lines caused by under trained employees and a computer system that is pathetically slow and outdated. Four registers at an area, but they are constantly freezing up and needing to be restarted. There's a long pause between items being scanned and them showing up on the screen. The credit card machines are the slowest I've ever experienced without the chip readers. They used to have people checking out on tablets that were much better. People were abandoning purchases the last time I visited as the checkouts were moving too slow. If you get stuck behind someone trying to open a credit card it is at least a 20 minute wait. read more

This review is about J.C. Penney company specifically and not about their sales associates. We recently purchased a lot of drapery for our new home from this location. It is almost an hour drive for us. We previously lived in the Chicago area and had purchased drapery and curtains up North there for the last 30 years through J.C. Penney stores. Always very satisfied, until now. Predominately purchased 84 inch length drapery. Nothing was consistent, everything ran from 82 to 84 1/4 and one panel had a big ink spot on it. Being almost an hour from the store created a big hassle with the back and forth, tho we accepted some to be shipped to us but even those were inconsistent lengths which again brought us back to the store. These flawed drapes are not the fault of the sales associate. She was very helping and accommodating during the purchase process and in the search for matching lengths. Her hands were tied. Covid and issues regarding where the drapes came from were suggested as the problem, but I'm not sure. She did say ours was the worst as far as most of the drapes being irregular. I no longer feel the same about the J.C. Penney company like I did for the last 30 years, certainly not regarding drapery. Looks like they are going out of business, maybe that is best, I don't know, sad. I like shopping brick and mortar, at least when it is good shopping with quality products. read more
