Went to the store to shop today. What a disgrace this store is. Who ever the manager is he or she needs to be replaced. The store was a wreck. Almost like shopping at a dollar store. The cloths were a mess, it was very apparent that no one is working in the departments keeping things folded and organized. Clothes on the floor and on the shelves in a pile. Reminded me Salvation Army. The floors were dirty with trash everywhere. The is no pride here for sure. I am a long time customer and it's very sad to see this store in this shape. I will not be back. I picked up items to purchase but when I waited at checkout I said hell no and put the items back. What happened to prompt customer service. I will shop where my money is wanted and appreciated. What a shame. I can see a store the store closing if action isn't taken. Who would wants to shop in a dump like this. read more

Upon entering we were shocked to see just how large this store was. Much bigger then the ones in Vegas. The entire store, I do mean every section was clean,organized, and had someone present to assist you. They had some new brands that I had never heard of before but they were pretty nice. We shopped just before closing. Even though it was late the register person was still friendly and offered us a 20% discount if we used or JC Penney card. Yesterday I went to their jewelry counter to have my watch battery replaced. The staff are courteous and do the job quickly. The charge of $10 was well-worth it. My husband also bought a nice garment bag (suitable for air travel) that was originally priced at $260 -- he got it on sale for $51. Great deal. While the clothes are not a stylish as, say, Macy's or Dillards, they have the basics. The staff is always NICE. That counts for a lot. Unlike the aforementioned dept stores, JC Penny is not snobbish or stuck up (not like the aforementioned have anything to be stuck up about -- they are mediocre at best). read more

The Salon in JCPennys is amazing. My hair stylist Kniles works magic. As a mom of two I tend to neglect my hair, but Kniles always has me blown away. No matter how bad I think it is, she pulls the beauty out! 10/10 would recommend Kniles for any cut or color you need. read more

I am pleased with the new and improved version of this store. Particularly the new home store, it is very bright and open with clean modern surfaces and interesting lighting. All products are well presented. The Employees all seem happy and greet you as you pass bye. Mary in the home store assisted us in our purchase and was very friendly and efficient. Do not buy jewelry here! My mother bought me a nice ring for Christmas. She spent extra on a lifetime warranty. They have refused to size the ring for me. Total bull crap! I went in to buy a diamond ring. They offered it to me for a great deal at $500 about 50% off. I was ready to buy it on the spot but they talked me into waiting a couple days for the preseason sale. So I placed it on hold with all of my information. I called before I went in and was told it was all good. However when I went in to buy it I was told that it had been sold to someone else. I was upset to say the least. The sales associate just said sorry, blamed it on someone else, and offered me a coupon for a free watch battery. This almost seemed like an insult! First let me say that I've been in the Customer Service/Credit business for 50 years. Yes, I'm old..having my own store for many years. The salesperson/cashier, Ashley M., in this store was one of the best I've seen. Not only was she helpful, sweet, kind, patient, and smiley... she was running two registers AT THE SAME TIME! She continued to wait on 3 other customers on a different register while helping us set up a new account. I would hire Ashley in a minute & give her a raise. If I had a complaint it would be about the credit department who kept me on the phone for 20 minutes and asked the SAME questions 4 times. read more

This has always been a store that I have enjoyed ever since I was a kid. My mom liked to shop here when I was little and now I have grown to like to shop here. They are always having sales and the sales people most of the time are very friendly and are always willing to help you find what you need. But because of the many sales the place is usually very busy and people are everywhere. Decent clothes and items for sale all year around. I am not sure where *Patrick was shopping but the lighting was bright and well lit and I didn't see the trailer park people roaming around, as commented. My cousin and I walked into JCPenney's not knowing that we were going to have the most wonderful experience shopping with Ryan (design bar). He was fabulous, made a lot of suggestions and needless to say we ended up walking out with too much to carry! He hand carried all all merchandise out to the pick up area so we could just drive up and pick up our purchases! He was also very funny and we loved laughing with him! Wandered the mall looking for the perfect Christmas gift exchange item and found myself at JCP. Its been a while since my last visit. They have come a long way with all the remodeling, additions, and fresh changes. I noticed Safora moved into the store. Each department was like its own store. They moved the home store from across the street to their second floor. Store was organized, clean and people were helpful without being pushy. Sarah Wells was very helpful sales associate taking the time to help me with items located on a higher shelf. She was friendly and was prompt ringing me up. Nice seeing an original price tag of $167 and reaping the discounted price of $32. Lots of good clearance items to save you money. read more

First of all- it's always wicked hot in that store. They have no wifi so you can't even look up thief website to see if they have more choices on sizes. I went up to the customer service counter and asked if they could look up some pants I wanted , she acted as if I was incompetence and couldn't look it up myself so I said never mind then as she was ringing me up I had a $10 reward coupon and she demanded and said that I have already used it which I have not but that's not the case it's $10 and then I should not of been treated like I was the bad person for saying I didn't use it- I didn't even get a thank you once I was done paying. read more

Took my 14 and 16 year old sons to Meadowood Mall to buy suits for their oldest brother's wedding. Went to Macy's first, and while we're looking through the men's suits and trying on jackets, the lady working in the dept, came up behind us. Rather than ask us if she could help, she asked us to move out of the way so she could get to someone else that came in after us. I told the boys to put everything down, and we went to Penney's. We asked the young lady at the checkout (Maddie) if she could call someone to help us measure them for suits. She said she could help. Not only did she measure the guys, but my youngest didn't fit any men's suits, so she called her manager and said she was taking us downstairs to help us find what we needed. Wow! In addition, she went back upstairs to grab a tie we liked, but forget to bring down with us. I will not be visiting Macy's any longer. But you can believe I will be supporting JCPenney's from now on. Way to go, Maddie! read more

After spending thousands on my wedding rings we have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. We purchased the warranties for all three rings. EVERY SINGLE TIME we have sent them in for maintenance there has been an issue and the staff has some excuse or points blame at someone else. This last time was the ABSOLUTE WORST. We sent my rings in to be resized and soldered together. After having them gone for a month they call me. They are WAYYYY to small. Mind you the rings were suppose to be sized up, not down. Now they have to be sent off again and taken apart and completely redone. Ive had to do everything but pull teeth to get this matter handled. NO ONE calls when they say they will and I have to hunt them down. I am currently waiting for the to finish fixing their mistake. We will never do business with them again. read more

There's not much in JC Penney that sets them apart from other department stores or even other stores not in the mall. They did some consolidation or remodeling and brought the home store from across the street and incorporated it into this one in the mall, which makes sense but the selection is limited. read more

This is for the jcp Fulfillment Center in Reno, NV. I ordered a 24 pc Anchor Hocking storage set, made of ~glass~. This arrived with one of the bowls severely chipped, with a sharp edge. The box was sent just as you would buy it off the shelf. There was no outside cardboard box, no cushioning of any kind. I'm actually very surprised that more bowls weren't damaged. This is for jcp customer service at 800-322-1189. First of all, when a customer calls to complain, it's appropriate to apologize. Then I was told that my options were to send the entire set back for a refund or exchange (likely that I would have received another damaged set, if it was packaged the same way), or I could exchange at the store nearest me, which had none in stock. Neither of these are very appealing options. I "settled" for a refund of 1/24th the purchase price, which was $3.67. I'm still not happy. This was an inconvenience, and I'm still missing a bowl from the set!! I'm glad it wasn't a gift sent to someone else. So, be careful if you're ordering anything breakable! Packaging is not adequate!!! read more

Once someone does help us at the register she was rude. No managers around to tell about poor shopping experience. This is no way to run a business. I actually like shopping here. The clothing they offer has changed quite a bit, but this is the one store I have a better chance in finding something at a reasonable price. I went on Thanksgiving night (I know, I'm one of those) and got a snow globe that they did not advertise! (Back story, I have been collecting these since 2005 and was a little bummed when I heard they did not have them this year). The prices were good and the crowd wasn't that bad. I first tried to shop at the Carson City store....then went to Reno store.....Sad days for Penney's.... I went in to purchase a suit, and they have no one working in Men's suits department....They must have called around 3 times to find someone who knew how to measure and size me, all 4 representatives I spoke with had absolutely NO knowledge of there own mens products....Store is run by a handful of young cashiers, no one has anything but general knowledge of their products. Their reps like the other store seemed unhappy with their jobs as could be deducted from the far less than enthusiastic response to help.... Last suit I bought was 10 yrs ago, and the trained and skilled Mens Dept customer service rep was a PRO....now JCPenney's doesn't seem to care about the customers anymore.....about as much knowledge as a rep at Walmart. JC Penny seems to be the best place to find clothes for my husband. We get everything from business attire to his newest summer wardrobe. They have great prices and constantly have "sales". It's always nice to see that you saved more than you spent even if you know that's probably all it cost to make in the first place. They've really worked hard lately to try and improve the store and I think it works for them. It's easy to find things and the people who work there are always really helpful. They sized my watch for me even though I didn't buy it there. It's definitely worth going in and taking a look. I find things constantly for myself as well. This place is like a smaller version of burlington coat factory or a non-second hand good will. I saw a rack of clothes for $2, which is super cheap! This place is filled with mostly clothes. There are some household goods, home decor, electronics, puzzles, shoes, kitchen wares, and minimal jewelry. They don't really care any nice jewelry, mostly costume jewelry, but even still, there are only 2-3 case-lines to look at. read more

As another review said, I am not a huge fan of JC Penny's. My in laws shop here a lot and send my kids stuff from here because it is the only store in their small town. However this is not a place I want to go unless I have to. My husband bought me a jacket here for Christmas and today I went to return it. I had the receipt and they would only give me a store card because I did not have the original credit card. This is a ridiculous policy. Kohl's, Target, Old Navy and many stores will put it back on the card without having the card as long as you have the receipt. If I have the receipt, I don't think that I should be forced to take a store credit for a store that does not carry anything I want. My husband took the jacket back this afternoon with his credit card and that will be the last time I go to this substandard store. Maybe there is a reason other retail stores including Macy's are starting to rebound while JC Penny's continues to lose revenue. Crappy store, crappy merchandise, crappy policies. read more

Bought my wedding rings from Jcpenny 5 years ago , paid a hell of a lot for them so I got the warranty with them . It's a cluster ring and a diamond has already fallen out twice and both times getting it repaired has taken forever and they screwed it up both times saying I didn't buy it when I did. This last time took over an hour to turn it in to get the diamond replaced in it. The cashier was slower then hell and when a second sales clerked walked up she helped lady behind me before me !!!! Never said sorry or anything!!!! Finally got it turned in , a month later I called and they said they just got it back from repair. So went to pick it up and two clerks this time both helping someone I'm only one waiting after half hour waiting (7 months pregnant and a toddler to keep calm its a very long time) I get to the counter and she gives me my ring and I sign for it , less then a minute to take care of it. I was about to ask price on a mans ring because my husband just lost his but she already took off to help next person so I had to rewait another twenty minutes to get helped by other cashier ( this whole time was "helping/chatting " same " customer ") then they left I walked up to her and she told me another lady who just walked up was before me!!!!!! So I told her never mind and walked away, right as I left she was calling to me never mind she can help me right away, but I'm so done with this place and no help. I just told her I was done with her not helping me ( the whole time she never even said hi to me). Why do I have to wait an hour each time to give them hundreds of dollars for jewelry. I went with a friend to JCP today. She was looking for Women's jeans. She found them, right size etc. It was quick shopping until it came to check out. We inquired as to where the registers were. Were told several in a certain area and we proceeded to that area. There was a cashier in jewelry, one in cosmetics and no one in Customer Service. We waited and waited and no one showed up so I went to jewelry and asked the clerk (Wendy) to please page someone to care for us. After the third request, Wendy came over and checked us out. Took us 10 minutes to find merchandise and 20 minutes to get out of the store ! It's no wonder that there were no more thank 20 or so customers in the store. No service, no shoppers. read more
