JCPenney used to be a staple shopping experience when I was younger...wrapping up last minute Easter Sunday accessories and popped in here to find a fun game and activities to celebrate! The employees all over the store were so friendly and kept asking if we needed help with anything. My girls enjoyed the Easter activities and the prizes they won. Something as simple as small activities for children are so appreciated at least from me. Thank you for reaching out to the community right from your store lobby. We also purchased a few items and were shocked by all the sales they had going. The clearance section didn't disappoint either. The store was also very well organized. I defy you to tell the difference between a JC Penney and a Kohl's. They're both laid out the same. They both have similar markup to markdown merchandise and zero help. One notable difference is that there's Kohl's cash to help ease the pain. JC doesn't even give up a Penney. And when you find a live human that could help, they avoid eye contact. If you do manage to make contact, they give nonsensical answers to straightforward questions, like "What sizes do you stock in men's suits?" and "Why do certain sizes show online as being in store?" I'm done. I love some of their products but shopping in store is not worth it. read more

spent hours finding outfits and getting my family of 5 ready for our annual christmas photo shoot just to get the most inexperienced photographer i've ever met in my life. he only took one picture of each pose instead of taking multiple and letting us choose the best one. He also cut off half my hair in some pictures and my husbands hands in others. the only decent pictures we got showed more of the blue background than they did our faces or bodies. He also gave absolutely no direction, poses or anything. He sat there quiet the entire photo shoot so I literally had to google poses and have my daughter take pictures of what we looked like mid shoot. such a huge waste of time and money. would not recommend going to this jcpenney at all! the one at lake line is much better. they also offered no discount or anything even though they were told how unhappy we were. read more

She adjusted my account giving me the advantage of a better coupon. But the money was not the issue, as much as the professionalism and respect that she gave a customer. This manager has good people skills and is going to go far some day. **** Original review is below: I have always had a god experience with JC Penney's until today. I went to the Round Rock store after being notified about their Labor Day sale. I saw two items for a good price; however there was only one left in inventory. So I go to the store and found the two items and asked a floor person, if I can get a better price. She said, "Yes" if I have the coupon. I asked if I have to order online to get that price and was told "No". I used the instore mode and used the price checker and the coupon popped up on the "Scan List." When I took this to the cashier, I get a different story: She can't honor the coupons because she can only give me 20% off. She told me online prices are different than store prices. I told her I understand that, but I used my app in the store using the JCP-provided to get the price. How can a person online scan a barcode than is on a tag on a physical object? She gave me two options: order it for same-day delivery or order online which will take a week. Since there was only one left in stock neither alternative was viable. If company policy was to create a barcode price checker to be used in-store, then it should reflect in-store prices. While less than five dollars is involved, this is a bait and switch strategy and left me with a bad impression of JC Penney. Their customer service has gone downhill and are not the company which I remember. I contacted their upper management and asked for a price adjustment and was told they cannot do it. read more

I came to the store to look for a new hairdryer. It's a very nice, clean store with very nice quality merchandise. It has ample parking also. It's a department store, so they carry jewelry, clothing for the whole family, make up, household goods, and more. They have a beauty salon inside and they also have a portrait studio. The woman who helped me today was very informative and attentive. Their prices are good. This is a great place to go if you're looking for a gift, school, clothes, or new clothes for yourself. An item I wanted to buy In store was original price, online price was 50% less. I went to see the cashier and asked if they can price match and she told me they do not price match even though it's with JCPenney online. She started to offer credit card for discount but no thank you! I decided to order online and pick up at a different store. Would have saved me a lot of time if the cashier can make it easy. Picked up at a different store in Austin and they told me the store does price match with jcp online. I would avoid this store from now and suggest management train their cashier accordingly instead of aiming on selling credit card product. read more

I'm really glad there are stores like JCPenney. I'm always happy to shop here because of the constant sales and discounts. While it doesn't always have everything I'd like to buy, there are so many things that I'm happy to snatch up at cheap prices. If you like Sailor Moon there are several shirts here. The shoe section is hit or miss if you have a less popular size but on this latest visit I found some cute things. Parking is easy but I wish the hours would go back to what they were before the last few years happened. read more

This is for the salon. She cut my bangs too short and blunt. I asked for face framing longer bangs. I did not get them. I didn't say anything because I mean what's done is done. I wasn't going to let her try to fix them because they are already not great. I paid and tipped but I won't be back. I spontaneously decided I needed a trim and I walked right in and was helped. Everyone was nice and Lisa did my cut. I just needed a quick re-layer and she even thinned it out for me. UPDATE-Sephora- I went last night to find some really awesome concealer and Mev assisted me. She immediately greeted me when I walked in AND took her time explaining all of the make up. We found a NARS concealer that worked really well. What makes me change my review to five stars is the fact that I found somebody who was willing to help me and took her time with me. I didn't feel rushed or that she was in a hurry. She provided me samples to take home to try. It's beauty consultants like her that make me love this Sephora location. This JC Penny location was awesome!!!!! I normally don't shop at this location since I live closer to the JC Penny location on Tech Ridge but I think I like this Round Rock location waaaaaay more! The clothes racks were organized & they had GREAT clearance prices 70-80% off!! This location does also have a Sephora in the store but I didn't have enough time to look . I have to say the best thing about this JC Penny location is that even though there were lots of people waiting to check out they had at least 6 checkouts going in the front & they were fast!!! & let me not forget the sales associates were so nice & helpful! Went to JC Pennys on April 1,2022. I decided to buy a mattress. Knowing things were taking a long time to get due to the supply chain chaos going on, I asked how long it would take and was told only 2 weeks. I had the cash to pay for it in full but was convinced to open a Pennys credit card to get some discounts and a promotional purchase of 18 months interest free. I saved about $400, so I did it. I decided to go ahead and make the interest free payments and keep my cash in my savings account. I called the credit card company to ask about the promotional purchase and was told my purchase was not given the promotional option. I opened a credit card that I didn't need (at 24% interest) ONLY because of the discount and promotional 18 month interest free. Also - I am going on 2 months since the purchase an never got the mattress. I cancelled my order and am still waiting for the credit back to my credit card - which I already paid $100 towards AND have an almost $40 interest charge for the month. I had the cash to pay!! Why would I open a credit card to pay 24% interest if I did t think I was getting the promotional purchase ?? I feel Like I was tricked into opening the card. Im guessing the sales person gets some sort of kickback for each credit card they "sell". I will be canceling the card immediately after I get the charge credited back (I've been waiting for that for over a week now) and will never step foot in JC Pennys again. read more

Let's see, how many racks of clothes can we cram into the store at one time? Nope, not enough, let's squeeze some more in there... That's what it felt like whilst walking through the ladies department at this store. I'm not a terribly large person, so when my arms are hitting racks on both sides as I pass through an aisle, that's too narrow. If someone is perusing a rack, you are forced to turn and go a different way to get around them. I can only imagine what this must look like from above, to see the rats in the maze trying to get the cheese (aka ladies hunting for the best deal). The ladies department is right up front by the doors, so you don't have to walk far to start your shopping. Aside from the squished ladies department, the store was great. Your usual JCPenney with sales and decent work clothes. If you want to dress nicely but don't have a ton of money, go to JCPenney. I was a little peeved at the checkout system. I was standing in line for a checkout section that was apparently closed, or so an employee told me. She pointed me in the direction of another checkout section and I stood in line there. Then she came over and asked the people at the back of the line (several people behind me) if they wanted to check out in the original section I was in. That's not good customer service. If you're closed, you're closed. If you're open, take the customers who are next in line and have already been waiting, not those at the end of the line who just showed up. read more

I bought 3 comforters from this store about a month ago. I was surprised when the inside of the comforter melted in the dryer. I've never had that happen before and I've washed plenty of comforters. I held onto it for a few weeks because I wasn't sure if they would take it back. I left the other 2 comforters untouched because I didn't want the same thing to happen again, and I planned on returning the other 2. My friend told me to just try and see if they would take it back. I finally decided to give it a shot so I go to look for my receipt but can't find it. Great... I called the store and they said that if I paid with a credit card, which I did, they should be able to find it in the system, as long as I purchased it at that location. When I went in to return it, I explained that the filling in the comforter melted in the dryer and the sales associate took it back with no problem. She was able to find my purchase in their system since I paid with my credit card and I returned all 3 comforters just like that. I was in and out of there in a matter of minutes. I wish this location had more of a selection of bedding. I was a little disappointed but they had great customer service, so I'm going with 4 stars. read more

SEPHORA- The customer service in the Sephora at JCpenny is awful. No one acknowledges you. No one asks if you need help. They hide behind the counter chit chatting or checking out customers. In every real sephora I have ever been to, there is always someone roaming the floor and asking if you need help to match palettes or give advice on the best products for you. This location happens to be closer to home and easier to get to but due to its awful customer service, I prefer to drive to Georgetown and go to the real Sephora with the best customer service! read more

I give JcPenny 4 stars because of the new 1st and 3rd friday reduced pricing they now have. LOVE IT!! good clothes for $2.00 I am all about that. They also have stuff priced at $4,6,8 and up. I do not shop JcPenny they are too expensive. Even though there ANA jeans are the best fitting jeans (still to high), but now i am a frequent flyer of JcPenny! 1st and 3rd fridays i will have my face in the place at 10 a.m. To get good quality clothes for so cheap is amazing. Customer service is always good staff seem pretty friendly! That don't harrass you alot, they kinda let you just shop! On October 6, 2019 at about 4:15 PM, I took my watch to the Jewelry Section of the University Oaks, Round Rock, TX store, to have the battery replaced and I was told that the lady with white hair would do it. She took my watch and did something and put it down. Then, about 21 minutes later she came to me and told me that she could not open my watch, and told me to take it somewhere else. She could have told me almost immediately that she could not open it instead of having me waiting for nothing. This lady's behavior is totally unacceptable as it shows lack of respect and concern for the customers, and it is a discredit for this store. JC Penny's management should review this case and take proper corrective action. read more

Also, you can't expect this Sephora to have absolutely everything. It's smaller. It's inside a department store. Calm down. This review is specifically about the bra department and sales associate named Jo. I went in desperate for a decent fitting. I had already been to Victoria Secret and couldn't find what I needed. The associate, Jo, is the absolute, most fantastic sales associate on earth. She is extremely knowledgeable, very honest, and incredibly nice. She spent almost an hour helping me find the perfect fit. She also listened to me and was extremely personable. I mentioned that my grandma was newly diagnosed with cancer. As I was leaving, she told me that it was going to be okay. A thousand thank-yous would not be enough to express my gratitude and satisfaction with her. A wonderful experience.... read more

Its Penny's. But, I will say this.. of all the Penny's in Austin, I think this one is the best! They've always got great sales on everything in store, sales that aren't just for one day, and all kinds of rewards for purchases. You can usually get good customer service, including the make up department. Dressing rooms can get backed up, but hell, any good sale on a Saturday is going to have a back up, right? lol They don't push you to get their Penny's charge card, but they do offer 15% off for applying. I wish their bra, panties & sleepwear choices was greater. They seem to only carry a few different makers for bras & panties, AND they don't seem to have a large selection for bigger boobs! lol JS.. Its good to know. I don't shop their shoes much, typical department store shoes, same with purses, and jewelry. But, they have an abundance of all of it. Love having a freestanding JC Penney close to home with Sephora! Sadly this store is kind of hit-and -miss for me. They are always out of things (like boxes at Christmas!) and finding help inside the store can be grueling. The Sephora is limited. This review is about the Sephora in the JC Penny, not the store itself (with which I haven't really interacted). I went in to try the Glitter Flip lipstick. First off none of the people working were wearing much makeup, and what they did wear was extremely dated looking. That's not necessarily a problem, but when you're looking for trendy new products it's kind of a red flag. I couldn't remember the name of Ciate, and so described the product to the sales person. She told me they had no such product. I brought up the Sephora page on my phone and she guided me to a small stand behind a pole, and asked what color I wanted. I asked for the dark purple or teal (because teal glitter, squeee!!!) and she rolled her eyes and said "we don't carry THOSE colors and handed me a red instead. Being judgy about your customers' in general, let alone on their choices of products that you sell, not cool. After that neither she nor any other member of staff offered to help me the rest of the time I was there. Not when I was looking for a way to take off the lipstick to try another color, not when I was looking at other displays, not when I considered other products, not at all. They weren't too busy, though because they did have plenty of time to loudly whisper about me, and point and giggle as I tried on the Glitter Flip with an Urban Decay glitter top coat (for the record, it looked awesome and despite them I bought both). Personally, I'm pretty darn confident and don't care about rude and judgy sales associates, but it is not acceptable behavior, and not everyone is as confident as I am. From the looks of reviews on here the store doesn't care and doesn't respond but please consider going anywhere else. Stopped by the Round Rock location ready to buy new appliances but couldn't get anyone to help me. There was one guy working and he was helping a couple, so I stood around for a bit. It seemed like they were going to take awhile so I went out to my car to wait, and sit down and charge my phone. When I saw the couple come out of the store, I went back in. I stood at the counter while the appliance guy was talking to another customer but when he finished talking to that guy he disappeared. So I took a seat on the barstool at the counter. Waited and about 15 minutes passed. Two other associates passed by and asked me if I had been helped, which I told them no. Then the appliance guy comes back out, and walks right past me to another customer that had just walked up and asked if he could help. This incinerated me and I got up and walked out. Seriously angry! Went to them over 3 weeks ago to have my ring repaired for a big event coming up. I told them I needed it done within 3 weeks and they assured me it would only take 2 weeks. I dropped off my ring and waited for over 2 weeks then went to the store to see if it was available. The lady told me it wasn't in but that it would definitely be there by Friday (2 days before said event). I told her that would be fine and waited. Friday came and went so I called the store to see about my ring. They told me it would not be done for another week! This lady (a different one), told me that it could take 2-3 weeks to complete. I told her it had already been over 3 weeks. She said sorry and there was nothing they could do. I asked to speak to a manager and was told they don't know the managers schedule and they weren't there at the time. WARNING: DO NOT leave your jewelry to be repaired if you're on a time constraint. Once we get my ring we will be hard pressed to ever return to this store. Terrible customer service! Update: I kept my composure after being told there was nothing they could do. I was upset but they had fulfilled their end of the deal (very late). I didn't ask for anything but the Spanish lady knew I was upset and made me feel better as well as gave me a discount. They mostly redeemed themselves. I'll give it another try. read more

The portrait studio is one of the worst studios I have been to. The photographs were terribly posed and not pleasing at all. The manager sent us to their portrait studio customer service which was just as rude and useless. We wanted to get a family photo together the photo's were skewed and tilted. The posing were beneficial to those being photographed. Of the 6 adults in the photo none found the pictures to be in good taste. The digital copy is not refundable which wasn't explained at the time of purchase. Nor was their policy present for us to be aware. If you can go somewhere else please do before you over pay for under quality photos. The best the customer service could do is 6 free sheets of picture we did not like. Lastly the customer service rep was extremely rude. read more
