I am 19 and was with my 18 year old cousin. We went upstairs looking for our parents when a mean associate says, "My manager just called and said you have to leave because you're not 18." First off, we both are 18 and we're looking at dorm supplies. Second of all, if you have to be 18+ to be upstairs, put up a sign. We scheduled the last portrait session of the day (7 PM) to take holiday photos with our dog, intentionally choosing this time to avoid the crowds and minimize distractions from other families. Two days prior, I called to confirm whether it would be a quieter time but received no response. On the day of our appointment, we were running slightly behind. I called to notify them and was informed we needed to arrive no later than 7:15 PM. We arrived promptly at 7:15, only to be told we would have to reschedule. To our frustration, the studio was bustling with families--precisely what we had tried to avoid, as it excites our dog and makes photo sessions challenging. Adding insult to injury, it became apparent they were running behind because the group before us had gone over their time slot--by more than 45 minutes. This disorganization directly impacted us, and I question why the previous group was given such leniency at the expense of our session. After leaving, my husband went back inside to speak with them and returned to say we could proceed with our session. I quickly dressed our dog in his sweater and returned to the studio within minutes. However, we were then told we had taken too long and would need to reschedule. This level of inconsistency and lack of respect for our time was shocking. We drove over an hour for this session, only to have our appointment mishandled at every turn. The lack of coordination and time management on their part not only disrupted our plans but also left us feeling like we were being penalized for their own missteps. Dawn scheduled my appointment and she was there that day. She was very sweet and helpful, but I hope she's more honest with her future clients about wait times. read more

Went on a Thursday to return something. The times online said they opened at nine but they didn't open till 11 AM. There was only one location on the first floor to check out and it had a long line. Thankfully you could walk right up to a separate window for returns. read more

Although they are currently renovating the second level, where we were shopping for shoes for my son, it was still a good shopping experience. The customer service is terrible, not that I had that high of expectations. I bought my husband a watch for Christmas, finally made it over with him to get it sized. The women working the jewelry section were so rude... basically jumped to say, "We can't do that," and another said, "all you need is a flat head screw driver," the five of them just stood their refusing to even look at it or apologize for the fact their policy isn't allowing it. They just can't do any sizing, or touch it... well that's kind of confusing because the lady had to touch the watch when I bought it. But I guess that's okay when you're spending money. I received the worst hair cut I've ever had from this salon, this included the salon manager Dyann fixing it. I use fix loosely as she made it worse. I now have a choppy mess that needs to corrected. The silver lining was the manager Andrew who I spoke with on the phone. He was very helpful, provided excellent customer service, and credited my credit card for the full amount. read more

Products weren't great but weren't bad either. The biggest point of excitement was Diane upstairs who was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I wish I had better credit so I could have signed up for the credit card just to make her happy, haha. But she was very polite with no pressure and handled everyone in a very friendly and efficient manner. Hopefully I won't be back to return more things, but I know that if I do it'll be a positive experience if she's there. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with JCPenney and this location in particular. I LOVE that they have a Sephora. I love the $10 off of $10 coupons I get in the mail. I love the great sale prices you can get on some items (like Vans t-shirts for the Men in my life). I hate the lack of registers and the lines that you often have to face. I REALLY hate having to return something here. Why? Well, here was my last return: I was returning a necklace and bracelet my Mom purchased online as a gift for me. It looked pretty online and cheap in person. Mom said to return it and buy myself something with the funds. I had a receipt. After waiting in line for 15 minutes I was told by the cashier "Ohh, they only return jewelry upstairs". Hmpf. I asked her where upstairs and she didn't know. I headed upstairs and found the appropriate counter. The guy at the counter acted like it was an issue to return the necklace and bracelet. He kept looking at the receipt and looking at the jewelry. He asked me stupid questions like "Where are the other items on the receipt?", "Which bracelet on the receipt is this?" and "Does this have diamonds?". The full packaging was there and for the price it sure as heck did not have diamonds! He even tried to tell me that it was damaged because a little piece of the paper on the packaging was torn. Really? After about 15 minutes he called a manager. The manager looked at him like he was an idiot and said "What is the problem? You have a receipt, return it". He then started FINALLY processing my refund. He asked me to sign the machine and told me it would go back to the credit card that purchased the items AFTER he processed it. What? Ohh well, there goes my gift money. I was just happy my Mom at least had her money back at this point. I then asked him to ring up the items I had picked out to purchase with the money that I didn't get back. That took awhile too. Needless to say, I spent almost an hour with unhelpful (and somewhat rude) employees. Love/Hate. I will be back for Sephora and probably for the stupidly ridiculously good coupons that keep me a customer. read more

Never again. For 18 months now, I have been telling people to buy major appliances from Penney's. They have competitive prices and you can look at what you are buying at the store. In fact, I have bought 5 appliances there. I over looked the nightmare of delivery for the first one that I ordered. I bought the maintenance agreements. Now, after 18 months, the handle fell off the freezer (great going Samsung, but that is another review.) I called Penney's to get someone out to fix it. After 90 minutes on the phone with them, being transferred and holding and transferred and holding, and call another number...it turns out that the handle falling off is not covered. I'll buy my appliances somewhere else. read more

I was at the store with my husband and mother in law looking for a bra for my mother in law. We were having much difficulty because her size and fit was really difficult. We approached Linda, for assistance, and it turned out to be the most pleasant experience. She is patient, knowledgeable and we now call her the pit bull of bras. When she's on the job, she doesn't stop until she finds what you need. She's truly amazing. Thanks to Linda in lingerie! Also, Telsie was helpful. There is a Sephora inside this JCPenney location so I don't have to drive over to Tampa for my makeup needs. I had a makeup emergency and was NOT looking forward to driving over to International Mall after work when I remembered there was a Sephora at Tyrone Mall! It's a lot smaller of course than an actual Sephora store, but they had what I was looking for. The people that work here are very friendly and helpful (thanks, Laura!). I'll definitely be back often- I hate driving over 275 after work! read more

I was looking for a low key eye glass place to order glasses. Ts was perfect for me. No high sales pitches and trying to get me to buy more expensive frames. I told the clerk what I needed, she showed me where to look and told me to let her know if I needed anything. There is a very small selection of glasses, but they are reasonably priced. I am a contact wearer, so I just needed a pair for emergency. She showed me to the lower price frames and let me be while trying them on. Once I picked my frame she was very helpful in getting my prescription faxed. I was out of there in 30 minutes with glasses ordered. I would go again. Park at the far side of JCP, near the trail for the easiest access. read more

I will not ever shop at this store again. My father passed away and I needed two suits for my son's. Since I don't know where else to get a suit for an 11 year old I went to Penney's. There was NO staff anywhere in the boys department and NO staff in the young men's department. I measured and fit my older son myself. And then of course they didn't have his size. I ordered the jacket (pre paying of course) and it may or may not be here in time for the services in five days. Now of course I have to make another trip to the mall to pick it up. That process was ridiculously long and annoying. However that particular associate was fairly lovely just slow. After finding bits and pieces that should work in the boys department for my younger son we had to go downstairs with our purchase to the girls junior department to check out since there was no one upstairs. We stood in line for thirty minutes for the ONE cashier who was incredibly rude. All in all the store in messy, lacks proper sizes, is over priced $300 for a suit for a young man (14) from PENNEYS is ridiculous I should've gone elsewhere to spend that money and gotten a nicer suit. I don't mind spending that much just not at a glorified wal-mart. But with the loss of my father I just couldn't think right or I wouldn't have even gone there to begin with. I won't be back. Went in yesterday to Jcpennys with my friend and sister right before they close about 3 minutes before so we quickly walked to the girls athletic clothing section and as my friend is picking out the shorts and shirt she knew she was quickly coming in for to buy we heard the announcement on the intercom telling all the customers that they were now closed and to head to the nearest registers if they had anything to buy and not even a second after that announcement right when we are about to head to the register one of the what I believe is a sales associate named Cindi(short grey hair) told us that "we need to leave because they are closed" without even asking if we were buying anything so I told her that " yes we heard the intercom we are about to head to the register" and she stands and says the same thing again so of course I tell her that we now heard this THREE times thanks to her so instead of buying what my friend needed we leave as she's telling who ever on her mic to "keep her conversation on record". She was extremely rude and obviously not trained well and has horrible customer service. Pretty sure she also targeted us because we look younger than what we really are and she thought we were just kids playing around. I really hope they fix this problem and do something about her. read more

Sales a plenty, choice of brands is always current and available. Staff is friendly and courteous. This store always has associates ready to help, and always greet you with a smile and offer of assistance. The manager of this JC Penney must be doing things right, as other stores employees will just ignore you.
