We looked at each other as what appeared to be the manager fawned over one woman trying on dresses for a wedding, and the other devoted her attention to their "favorite customer" who had come in after we had. I finally said to the other ignored customer, "I must look like I'm not here to buy clothing." I was looking forward to getting some help putting together a wardrobe, and trying things on after a year of online shopping. It's not that hard to get Halston. The whole store looks new, very bright, organized and clean. We spent a while looking through the vast collection of leather goods. I picked a leather vest for myself. My wife picked a leather belt. My daughter picked a pair of sparkly blue leather boots for herders. The prices were little higher as expected for quality leather items. The associates were very friendly. At the checkout they signed up us for a free rewards account. I received a 15% discount coupon email towards my next purchase. For the first time being at boot barn, we had a wonderful family time shopping here.

(She may be the owner, she certainly acts like it). I walk out now if she's in there. The reason that I will no longer buy my clothes there is that a couple of weeks ago, I bought jeans there for $110. They were a little tight, but the sales lady told me that they looked great and promised me that they would relax with wearing. She told me that this was the size I wanted, no larger, and I bought them, as I thought these folks know their clothes and are very professional. I wore them for about seven very uncomfortable hours, with no sign of stretching! I brought them back, explaining my predicament and unsatisfaction. I had all the tags, sales slips, even the bag, and I was told that they would not take returns on clothes that had been worn. It is their policy, but this policy is unfair if there is a promise of satisfaction on a garment that must be worn to fit properly. So there's a fine catch-22. I feel very unhappy, used, taken advantage of, sad, and I will sadly no longer shop at Clays.

Focusing mostly on women's apparel, this store also has a section for menswear and children's clothing and there is even a pretty large selection of home items. The fabrics are mostly florals, with beautiful colors and designs. They are reminiscent of Laura Ashley or Vera Bradley, but with more bold colors and different designs. If there are people with you who are bored with shopping, they can sit down on the main floor and visit with the birds that live in the store. The clearance center has some good deals and there are often items on sale on the main floor, but the real deals are found in the basement. I've seen items priced as low as $20, and there are usually racks of clothing that are 40% off. Most recently, I found some very pretty items that will be put away for future gift giving. There are comfortable dressing rooms, plenty of parking out front and even if you don't buy anything, the atmosphere of this beautiful store is worth the visit.

The rest of the staff I met once we were inside were super helpful and friendly. The store itself seems a little small, but I think the location and store itself is really nice. The prices seemed the same as other torrids I've been too, the layout of the store was great, and they had so many if not almost all of the standard bra options in store- that alone made my day! If you haven't been inside a Torrid before- they carry women's sizes 10-30, plus size exclusive. I love their bras because I can wear the same size in basically every bra and have it fit. They carry super trendy and comfortable styles with a fit that never disappoints, and if you feel like staying home you can order online and have it shipped for free to the store for pick up. So glad my favorite store is finally in Vermont!
