They found that the problem was due to the lack of a drip edge, which caused the wood to rot over time, and the gutter to fill with water and partially collapse. The screws attaching the eave to the soffit, which had more severely collapsed, fell out due to the rotted wood. Because the needed repairs were more extensive than what initially seemed like a straightforward fix (per the photo I sent them), they recommended I contact a roofer to make the repairs. Rob and his coworker were both very helpful, honest, and a pleasure to work with. They did not charge me for coming out to my house or for the diagnosis. I wouldn't hesitate to contact them again if needed.

He was quick to call me, send me an estimate and it made me believe he knew the mount. We scheduled the install and he showed up alone. During the install: - he installed the new mount upside down on the wall. He had to remove it and remount, leaving two extra holes on the wall that he tried to hide with the wall cover clips that come with the mount - he installed an optional swivel kit without asking, so the TV now swivels only in one direction - removing the old mount created a hole that was patched up poorly - the TV was not mounted level - the handle of the mount was not secured - I had to purchase a separate adapter for the soundbar. He said he'd come back to finish the job when the adapter would come in. Unfortunately, I did not realize the problems with the install before I sent him a payment. I then reached out to ask to patch the extra holes he created on the wall because of the mount flip and to remove the optional swivel plate he installed without asking. I asked if he could do it when he was supposed to come back to finish to install the soundbar. He agreed. The adapter for the soundbar came in and I sent him texts to schedule the install. Like other reviews pointed out, this is when the ghosting started. So I was left with a botched wall patch up, holes on the wall because an incompetent install, a TV that can swivel only in one direction and a soundbar adapter to install. I sent a chargeback for part of the payment on Venmo because of these issues and lack of response on his end. As quick as he was to ghost, he was also quick to call right after the chargeback. He lied about responding to my messages and threatened to beat me up. Do not work with this guy if you expect someone competent and reliable.

We assumed it would take several days for him to complete the work, but he finished everything in one day and at maybe 1/4 the cost we'd expected. One of the original visit jobs was installing a railing on the basement stairwell, and when one of the screws loosened up a few months later, John came back the same day, worked on it for nearly an hour, and did not charge us a penny. YES, no charge at all! Who does that anymore, especially in Boston?!? Fast forward to today, years after we last called John. I asked if he could swing by for a few odd jobs during the next week or two. I described everything via text and included a pic of the house to jog his memory. Just a few hours later as I'm wrapping up work, John sends over pics of everything--FIXED! The invoice, parts included, is 1/3 the cost anyone else would charge. Just three reviews? This guy is Yelp's best kept secret right now. Despite his funny Scottish accent, I really can't say enough good things about John--he is best described as a handyman superhero. He's a reliable, trustworthy guy who works super fast, does great work, and actually has a great sense of humor to go along with his great Scottish accent.
