Run Away - run hard, run fast!…read more Our general contractor chose Holiday Enterprises Heat/Air (HEHA) to design/install new attic ducting w/a new HVAC system when he put an addition on our home in 2014. HEHA didn't tell us about a leak in the evap coil at install, causing the 1st of 3 evap coil replacements. Fine, if the problems ended there, but it was just the start. We've had constant issues/expenses since. This yr we tried another company. Good move. For 6-yrs we've dealt w/leaks, bad air flow/duct design, costs to add refrigerant, high energy bills, and resistance to getting problems fixed. Most, if not all this, was due to HEHA. Not one thing was done right the first time out. In all: - The new addition ductwork had to be redone after their design stopped cooling part of the house - This yr, my new company ID'd problems at 1st glance despite HEHA techs seeing same system each yr (for 6 years) w/out seeing it. A few examples are that HEHA: 1) removed needed parts. The TXV was removed but never reinstalled when evap coil was replaced, so my system wasn't operating the way it should 2) didn't replace other parts during repairs. The filter drier should be replaced if the lines are cut. For us, this means after each of the following repairs: - each (of 3) evap coil replacements, - the cracked drain pan repair, & - the TXV install. No work order cites replacing this part (it removes water and contaminants in the system, especially with the humidity in Florida). They could claim they replaced it, but the paint on the existing part is powdered and sun-faded, so it clearly wasn't done recently when the TXV was finally re-installed either. 3) didn't leak test repairs. I paid a different company to test for leaks right after the recent TXV installation because HEHA billed me for 5 lbs of R410a refrigerant after they installed the TXV. They didn't test to make sure their repair didn't leak, or test to find the leak that caused the 5 lb loss, but it seemed clear we had a leak resulting in the bill I had for the 5lb of refrigerant. I stayed with the new company throughout their entire visit and they found 2 leaks at TXV connections during testing. We are hoping that connection area is also where I lost the 5 lb before the TXV was installed because of all the evap coil replacements. With all the leaks I already had, and all the refrigerant I had to add over the past 6 years (not even counting this 5 lb) this should have been a no brainer, but the tech said he didn't even bring leak testing equipment with him. Wow, good thing I hired another company to check it. I contacted the manufacturer, Bryant, for assistance since my unit is still under warranty. They contacted HEHA several times. HEHA never responded, further deepening my criticism of them for their lack of...everything! HEHA did send courteous techs if we called, but I need professional competence that can't be replaced by courteous techs. And this happened more than once. I had to engage many times to get job done right: - 3 appointments to fix the ducting (two times they looked at the ducting, said they would run numbers and get back to me. They never did). I ended up calling my general contractor to tell him a section of my original house wasn't getting air after the new A/C unit and ducting re-design. He called their service manager who came to the house and found the problem in about 30 seconds with a single look! He sent the techs to fix the design and they got it right on the 3rd visit. - 2 calls to fix the TXV, and I also had to prove to them the TXV was supposed to be part of the system. I am NOT an HVAC specialist, they are supposed to be, so our roles were oddly reversed. I can't diagnose the cause or severity of problems, and I shouldn't have to fight with them to get my questions answered or concerned addressed. The last 2 big repairs should have been dealt with by the service manager or the owner. Instead, they had me work w/their office manager instead of an HVAC specialist, so...instead of getting issues fixed, I had to justify myself to a non-technical office guard-dog who's job was to get me to go away instead of help me. And she kept trying to call the new company inept and blame them instead of checking into the right answer. If they had either responded to Bryant's questions, or tried to make sure my system was properly serviced when any of the problems kept occurring (including leak testing the repair they JUST performed), I would not have written this review, but now I simply want to warn everyone to stay away...unless you enjoy dealing with unending problems, fighting to get the job done right, and spending continuous money on your new, very expensive system throughout its warranty period!

One of the most unprofessional experiences I've had with a company in a long time…read more First of all, be warned, this company uses a mix or AI (robots), international customer service, and local people, to handle their inbound calls. So you never know if you're speaking to someone local, someone over seas, or a robot. I called and scheduled an appointment to have my kitchen sink snaked, using their $93 or free promotion. The tech was supposed to arrive between 1-5 pm. (I later figured out that I was talking to AI, to schedule this). So the following morning, I get a call, from a human in their office, saying no, I need to be home at 11 AM, because the plumber will arrive earlier. So I had to leave my job at 10:45 AM to meet this plumber. By 12:30 he had not arrived, so I called the office. The office informs me, we never said at 11, we said AFTER 11 (this is absolutely NOT what they had said to me). They proceed to inform me that the plumber only has one stop before me, and should arrive early afternoon. By 3:30 pm he STILL had not arrived, and I had missed almost an entire day of work. I called the office again, and got an over-seas customer service person who had no idea what was gong on. This so-called plumber shows up at 5:15 pm! He brings in a hand snake, that looks like a child's preschool toy, and performs one of the most half-assed, half-hearted attempts to clear a drain that I've ever seen. He says he can't clear it without a power auger. (Anyone with half a brain would have brought a power auger with them initially). He says he can do it tomorrow, with a power auger, for $500!! At this point I told him to leave. There was no charge for service since he was unable to clear the drain. BUT, this is a BAIT AND SWITCH sales tactic. Advertise one price and service, and then BAM, hit you with a higher price. This waste of time cost me nearly an entire day of work. I was able to get a different company to come out and clear the drain that same evening. The other company arrived on time, and cleared the drain for only $200, less that half the price that M & S wanted to charge me.

In January I was approached by M&S HVAC and plumbing and offer me a service contract. Which sounded…read morelike a good deal at $10 per month and included two inspections and cleaning per year. Yesterday they came and after a while I was informed my AC capacitor was "out of range" and need to be replaced or it would fail soon. The estimate was $1100. Which was reduced to $750 (which sounded like a good deal). That's until later in the day I check pricing on the internet. Capacitor $60, leak sealant $60, and 4 lbs of freon $100. Labor took less than 30 minutes. So apparently there labor rate is about $1000 per hour. The 1st person I spoke to offered me a $350 credit towards my "membership" (which I declined). His boss call back later and offered nothing and tried to defend the ridiculous charges. I did check with three other quality contractors to compare pricing and the highest was $531. The others were less. Unfortunately the work was done and the bill was paid.

I am writing to formally express my serious concern and disappointment regarding the HVAC system…read moreinstalled at my property by Roosters. At the time of purchase and installation, I was verbally assured that I would be receiving a Tier 1 Carrier HVAC system. Based on that representation, I agreed to proceed and paid the full amount requested. I relied entirely on the verbal description provided, as no written documentation specifying brand or model tier was given to me at the time of sale. It has now come to my attention--while reviewing documentation during tax preparation nearly a year later--that the unit installed is a Bryant system, not a Tier 1 Carrier unit as promised. While I understand that Bryant is manufactured by Carrier, it is widely recognized in the industry as a Tier 2 product line. This is not what was represented to me when I made my purchasing decision. Had I been clearly informed that the installed unit would be Bryant rather than a Tier 1 Carrier system, I would have reconsidered the purchase, negotiated the price accordingly, or explored other contractors. I feel misled and taken advantage of, especially given the significant financial investment involved. This situation has caused me to question the transparency and integrity of the sales process. As a customer, I expect clear, accurate, and documented representations when making major home improvement decisions. Instead, I received only a total amount due and a verbal description that did not match the product ultimately installed.
