We were looking for a place to eat that was away from the downtown chaos and found JC's Bar and Grill. At first it was hard to believe that we had found a place with a warm, comfortable neighborhood vibe so close to downtown. We ordered at the counter, paid for our meals a found a nice both near the pool tables from which we could watch the lively games of pool. (I would advise not challenging the locals to a game of pool unless you wish to donate to one of their favorite charities.) Our food was delivered to our table by the gentleman working the grill. We walked in with our expectations set, although we weren't expecting frozen fare. Danica was awesome and she made me a drink that could sub for the SoCo and Ginger they had run out of. We (well my hubby since I'm not a sports person) had a great convo about mountain biking. (AITA) I don't go out often but when I do my friends like to start at Jc's and I've never had problems here nice vibes nice workers and good drinks but tonight was awful. I ordered myself a 'White Russian' which for those of you who don't know is 2 parts vodka 1 part kahlua and one part heavy whipping cream. The guy who made my drink needs to be retrained on mixology and customer service, he hands me a "drink" that is a sprinkle of kahlua, maybe a shot of vodka and the rest of the remaining half of the TALL glass was filled with cream. I tried a sip and had no alcohol taste at all just pure cream ( practically a cup of milk). I went back up to the bar and asked if he could remake it properly and he gives me a snarky attitude and says " you asked for a White Russian , this is a White Russian" there was a bit of back and forth ( I was not angry or yelling at all just figured it was a simple mistake) before he literally ripped the glass out of my hand and threw the drink in the sink in a very aggressive manner and shook his head in anger. He ended up making me a new one but it wasn't any better. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, especially because I've had positive experiences here before and genuinely like JC's. That said, this interaction was disappointing. This isn't just about drink proportions--it's about customer service. Mistakes happen, but how they're handled matters. Guests shouldn't feel dismissed or talked down to when raising a reasonable concern. read more

Grimy. Smells like beer or pee. Service is nice and fast. A legit dive. A few pool tables. They have discounted specials for food and drink every day of week. Food is warm and fast pub that is good. It was the rude blonde bartender that earned this review. The blonde female bartender we had on 12/31 was extremely rude and unprofessional. She took our order, brought our drinks, and then completely dropped the ball on our food. We waited while our friends--who ordered after us--received their meals first. When my friend's husband followed up with the buzzer, the bartender was rude and outright denied ever serving us, which was clearly untrue. When I calmly asked if there had been another female server before her, she said no--confirming it was her the whole time. I tried to de-escalate and politely explain that our food order was missing. Instead of taking responsibility or helping, she snapped that "it will be in a to-go order," then turned to my friend and said, "You didn't know the order." That comment was unnecessary, disrespectful, and completely uncalled for. Mistakes happen. He clearly had the food buzzer but she denied there was an order placed until I clarified and showed proof of the charge on my card. Lying, being dismissive, and talking down to customers is a choice. Her attitude made the entire experience uncomfortable and frustrating. If this business continues to support her it's very disappointing because the other bartenders were kind and the food was decent. This is a nice little bar in downtown Bend. It's a great hangout spot for folks who want a drink but also enjoy some table games. We sat at the bar watching the game. The bartender doubled as the cook and host. It was earlier in the day so he was wearing multiple hats. We had dinner reservations so we didn't order any food but the prices seemed very affordable. The drinks were absolutely downright cheap. We ordered multiple drinks and shots that would have been $30+ elsewhere but certainly didn't pay anything close to that. We stumbled upon JCs when looking for burgers at a place that didn't close at 10pm. JCs serves the BEST TASTING BURGER I can remember. It starts as a frozen puck but the holy love that they put into it it makes it. The bun is a tender squishable cloud of golden wheat. American cheese goos over two exellently seasoned and fried burger patties forming something close to Plato's perfect idea of a cheeseburger. We grabbed a few local brews to wash down our bugers and curly fries. JCs has a punk-dive bar asthetic that we love with pool tables, shuffle board and alt sports on the TVs. Staff was nice and hardworking. Definitely recommended on a trip to Bend Oregon. Some early 20-somethings went in before us saying "she said this was a good place for the younger crowd." read more

You can't possibly come to JC's and not have a good time with all the fun games, great beers and scrumptious bar bites available. It's somewhat divey, but they have a sunny corner spot on the block bringing in strong rays of sunshine to alleviate the typical, dark cave-like ambiance of the typical indoor bar during the day. I've been here a couple times already always in a large group. We come for the games and of course the tasty, refreshing, pitchers of beer. I wish I could find a place in my area that had all these games in the bar: giant jenga, giant connect four, two pool tables, foose ball, pinball and shuffle board. There is one rifle weilding arcade game too if you need to get your video game fix on. We only meant to have a pitcher or two of beer and move on, but we were having such loads of fun rotating around playing games. It inadvertently turned into an all day affair! Staff was friendly and very attentive to us all day long. They made sure we had a full pitcher of water with our pitchers of beer. We started out with chips and salsa- very average but good enough for us. Next we ordered the cajun curry fries which came out piping hot but crispy and very flavorful. These will get the hand to mouth motion going fast! We also enjoyed some quesadillas which were loaded with good stuff, two sauces to dip and very satisfying also. JC's is a must if you're visiting Bend, OR. If you're a local, you'll be glad you came! There is an abundance of fun and games to be had here! read more

Nothing special, but also not bad. To be transparent, I've only come here for drinks once, but I do occasionally come here for lunch because I work in downtown Bend. The food is actually decent and this is one of the cheaper places to eat downtown. It can be difficult to find an affordable place to eat in downtown Bend, so it's nice that JC's offers lunches (including the fountain drink) under $10. Their french fries are exactly the way I like them -- crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. They give you ranch, fry sauce, and ketchup at no additional charge (which is, unfortunately, is becoming a rare thing these days). I've had their cheeseburger and their chicken sandwich, both of which are decent, though be aware that they don't have tomatoes or lettuce (I'm guessing because of the perish-ability). Therefore, be aware that if you don't make any special requests, they will come with onions and dill pickles (the two condiments that they do keep on hand). read more

Live music, shuffleboard, Jenga, pool, and other activities were rampant throughout the bar. We stayed for a few drinks and had excellent service. They have lots of bar games (pool and shuffleboard and I'm sure more if only I had looked around more) and the women's restroom was clean. Since we came for food, it would've been nice to have more table options, but we made it work crowding our food onto one the the high tops against the wall in the bar area. If you don't know the drill here, it can be a bit uncomfy at first. This is a true 'locals spot' and caters more to those who are in the know, not tourists. Zero ambiance, unless "Dive Bar" is an ambiance. Since we were n00bs we had to ask if we just sat ourselves and where we could get menus.... and while we felt like total dorks for not knowing, our waitress was super kind and helpful. Based on that previous review we tried the Cranberry Mules. Pretty darn tasty $8 drink and bonus, it comes in a blue enamel camping mug. Snazzy! Dinner was burgers. JC Lucy and an evil fungus covered thing across the table from me. Wonderful burger, one of my new favorites in Bend. You can tell the chef takes a lot of pride in his cooking. $12 for my cheese-stuffed burger, $11 for the shroom/swiss cheese monstrosity. And here's the real kicker. Bend restaurants, are you paying attention to this BOMBSHELL?? They didn't charge anything extra for sweet potato fries. Mic drop. That's right. Really, I'm not kidding! No upcharge for the different fries. I was blown away and almost felt like we were getting away with French fry murder! Halibut fish sandwich was very very good! Battered with crushed potato chips made it crispy on the outside. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this fish sandwich. The bread was well decorated with tartar sauce, sliced pickles, large tomato slices, and shredded lettuce. The overall flavor and freshness was to my picky standards (LOL). I keep meaning to try this place, it's on my radar and finally last night we made it there. FIrst off, outstanding service. Final answer. The hostess, waitress was great. Quick, friendly, efficient, on point, etc. The chef, Justin came over personally to check in on our meal. Nice guy, chatted us up a bit, all good. We were here for $1 Wednesday wings and they had great flavor, but were a little underdone. My man had the pork wings and they were not warm, maybe lukewarm. Hidden gem of Bend for sure! Had the Cranberry Moscow Mule which was amazing! The food is not the normal "bar food", tasted amazing and presentation was on point. With a table of 4 we split, turkey club, tri-tip sandwich and chicken tres tacos. The sweet potato fries were the best I ever had! Atmosphere was great!
