Lousy bartenders, rude and too slow to be behind the bar. Would not recommend to a friend

The food here is awesome! When we first walked in, we were a bit skeptical due to the overall cleanliness of the tables and some of the characters that seemed to be hanging around. We weren't sure what to expect, but we thought we'd give it a shot. We ordered burgers and oh, my, GOSH! They were presented wonderfully and the flavor blew my taste buds away! My only critique epuld be that the buns were cold. :( Their fish and chip combo was super yummy too! They definitely know how to make a darn tastey Guiness beer batter. :) The staff was fun and friendly and made it a welcoming visit. We had a blast with the giant Jenga blocks. One of my favorite bars in town because of the crowd it pulls and environment. Unfortunately, every time I've been here the bartenders have been pretty unpleasant. Even more concerning is that I've been randomly charged $23-$30 on my card on several separate occasions. My last card statement had a $5 charge for the beer I had purchased and a separate, random $23 charge. I had never ordered or received any receipt for anything close to worth that amount. As I've mentioned, this isn't the first time this has happened. I've had to file charge disputes, and I'm considering filing a fraudulent claim against the establishment should this happen again. Stopped by on a whim for a drink on the way back to McMenamins, then we noticed they had a full sized shuffleboard table in the back! Unfortunately there were a couple of haggard Cougars back there playing the ol' "Slow Play/Stall To Hold The Table Till Our Group Shows Up" game. They were really bitchy, and when their group showed they all just stood around BSing. So I called one of the guys over and asked if they were done, to which he very nicely replied that he would tell the others that THEY were done. So the table was ours and we enjoyed ourselves. We came here with hopes of watching the Beaver game... We were surprised to find that even though the game was just starting, it wasn't on any of their TVs. The Good Wife made the cut, but not the Beaver game, apparently. We asked to turn the game on and were told "I'll have to ask and see if anyone is watching what's already on..." Uhhhh.... Ok. They turned the game on without incident. Then I tried to order the "pizza bagel" appetizer... I was told " let me check... Sometimes we're out of marinara or something." Uhhhh... Ok. Stopped by this local gem on vacation with my boyfriend. I was immediately taken care of by their attentive staff, from the waitress to the chef (who personally came and told us the specials). Came here for a drink and snack Friday night. It wasn't overly crowded, maybe the weather keeping people in? The atmosphere is a little dive bar like. The small side near the bar is cozy, plain and not fancy at all. The other side is a large playroom: pool, shuffleboard, etc. seemed like a great place to hang out with a large group of friends! It was a little cold in there, I had to keep my jacket on, but it was only 7 degrees outside!! I have to say I was impressed with the bartender who made me an upscale muddled lime and cucumber cocktail. And she suggested it!! I did not expect that in this type of environment! We shared a chicken quesadilla that was pretty good and met expectations. Service was awesome. Prices good. I would easily go back! read more

Burgers are the best. Cooked to perfection, juicy and the fry's are crispy and very good. Service was excellent on a busy Saturday night with flashback Cruz in. We will definitely be back for another round of burgers. read more

As a college grad I relish times I can get nostolgic in a college atmosphere. They have a great shuffleboard table, good beers, decent food (chowder or wings are fantastic, don't order shrimp basket), try their house beer "10 Barrel Brewing" it's second to Deschutes in Bend, but you don't have to deal with DB crowds or tourists. JC's is a good local bar that cool outa towners can feel at home. read more

Nice hangout bar that's filled mostly with 20-30 year old locals. Has a nice shuffle board table and pool table. Bar area can get a little cramped, but there's a large area too where you can stand around in or take a seat in one of the booths. Good bar food, and bartenders are quick and friendly. read more

Who Knew? Just had a fantastic dinner at JC's. An unexpectedly great wedge salad and a terrific pasta dish. My daughter had a burger and fries and that was also well prepared. Way better food than D&D or McMenamins. Give it a try some time! read more
